Chapter Sixteen: The Young Master Who Loves Golden Dumplings

These tea eggs and golden dumplings were being sold for the first time, and Xichun didn't dare prepare too many. Plus, the prices weren't cheap, so not many people bought them.

"Young master, look at these eggs, they're all black. I've only ever heard of red eggs, I've never seen eggs like this before." A servant was standing nearby, next to a man dressed as a young master.

"It must be some kind of food, Zhunian. Go and buy some to try. If it's good, I'll take some to my parents too." The boy looked at the crowd and sent his servants over.

"Oh, it's a young girl. Are you selling eggs here?" Zhu Nian asked curiously when he saw that the stall was run by a young woman.

"Yes, these are tea eggs. They're made with tea leaves and several seasonings. As you can see, we've already sold quite a few. Many people like them." Seeing his curiosity, Xichun patiently explained.

"And what about this?" Zhu Nian asked, pointing to the golden dumplings on the side.

"This is called Golden Dumpling. It's cooked in this spicy hot pot. There are also vegetables and meat here. When the weather gets cold, a bowl of this will make you feel warm all over."

"Malatang, sounds pretty good. Give me one of everything, let's try it first." Zhu Nian knew that the young master wasn't interested in much else, but he loved food the most, and he knew this smelled good.

"Okay, how many of you are there? Do you want to eat here?" Xi Chun didn't see anyone else.

"There are two of us. Miss, please prepare two bowls for us, and we'll eat here." Zhu Nian saw that the table next to her had been wiped clean, so she made the decision for her young master.

"Okay, then you wait here for a moment, I'll cook it and bring it up right away."

Seeing that she was busy, Zhu Nian ran over and called his young master over.

"Young Master, their dishes look quite good, and they're all very clean. You must be hungry, Young Master. Why don't we eat first and then go back?"

"I knew it, you're making decisions for me again. Alright, I'll take a look first." Fu Changfeng, who was called "Young Master" by the servant, was wearing a cotton coat and was indeed cold and hungry after waiting for a while.

Fu Changfeng led Zhu Nian over and saw that the stall was run by a young girl and an aunt. He rarely saw such a young girl doing business, so he stared at them for a few moments.

"Young master, I've already inquired. That black egg is called a tea egg, and that golden thing next to it that looks like a dumpling is called a golden dumpling. I heard it's filled with meat. I've ordered one of each for you. If you don't like them, you can give me a portion."

Zhu Nian had a good plan; he even had a backup plan in mind if the food didn't taste good.

"So you're the one who wanted to eat it, and you still have the nerve to say it was me." Fu Changfeng could tell what he was thinking just by looking at him like that. Zhu Nian had been by his side since she was a few years old, so the two of them were familiar with each other.

"Hehe, young master, I didn't say that."

Xi Chun quickly brought out the cooked food and said, "Please enjoy your meal. This soup is a bit spicy. If you don't like it, I'll add some clear broth for you."

"Thank you, young lady," Fu Changfeng said in return.

Xi Chun looked at him and found that his temperament was obviously different from others. Perhaps he was from a wealthy family. If he could patronize her stall, he must be generous.

Fu Changfeng had no idea what Xichun was thinking. He was the first to see the golden egg dumpling. The name "Golden Dumpling" was quite fitting. He took a bite, and the minced meat inside combined with the egg skin was indeed delicious.

Zhu Nian was still waiting for him to say it wasn't good so he could have some, but unfortunately, he miscalculated this time.

I watched helplessly as the young master ate a golden dumpling and half a tea egg, leaving only some vegetables and broth.

"Young Master, you can't eat anymore, can you? How about I eat it all for you? Don't you always say that every grain is hard-earned?" Zhu Nian even started to use his literary skills when it came to food.

"Hmm, you eat. Look at you, you've gotten so fat. If I, your young master, stood next to you, people might mistake me for someone else." Fu Changfeng wasn't actually very full, but seeing Zhu Nian's pleading eyes, he shook his head and gave him the rest.

“Girl, how many of these golden dumplings do you have left? I’ll buy them all. And these tea eggs, I’ll buy them all too.” Fu Changfeng stood up and walked to Xichun’s side.

"Really? My golden dumplings and tea eggs aren't cheap." Xi Chun was naturally happy to hear him say that, as she could go home earlier. However, she was worried that the young master might not have that much money, which would be awkward.

"Oh, how much is one?" Although Fu Changfeng was the son of a landlord, he wasn't completely ignorant of the ways of the world, so he still asked about the price.

After hearing the price and the quantity of Xichun newspapers, he did some mental calculations before saying, "I've decided to buy them all. Miss, could you please wrap them all up for me?"

"Okay, then I'll pack them all up for you." Xi Chun thought happily, there aren't many customers as generous as this, so I definitely have to take good care of them.

Fu Changfeng took Zhu Nian home, told him to go to the kitchen and have someone prepare the food, and then went to the main courtyard.

"Changfeng, you went out in this freezing weather, aren't you cold? Your father told you to stay home and study, and look at you, you've wasted another day." Fu Changfeng's mother started scolding him as soon as she saw him come in.

Fu Changfeng was the youngest son in the family, so his mother favored him a little, while the eldest son grew up under the strict discipline of the master and would eventually take over the family business.

Master Fu originally wanted Fu Changfeng to study and take the imperial examination, but who knew that his youngest son would be restless and unruly after going to school. Even though the teacher said that he had some talent for studying, he just didn't want to take the exam.

“Mother, what’s the point of studying and taking the imperial examinations? Those officials still fall into depravity. Anyway, I have Father and my older brother with me now, so I’ll just be a free man from now on. By the way, I’m going to visit Grandpa in Peach Blossom Town today. There’s a stall there that has really good food. You should all try it later.”

When Fu Changfeng heard his mother start nagging about these things again, he simply changed the subject and started talking about the delicious food he had discovered on this trip.

"So you went to your maternal grandfather's. You child, all you think about is food. Let's see which girl will dare to marry you in the future." Hearing that her son had gone to his maternal grandfather's house, her expression softened.

They were terrified that their son would be led astray by others. Everyone in the city is shrewd, and many families have had their sons tricked into gambling, almost losing their entire family fortune.

Although she doted on her youngest son, she was also very clear about important matters concerning the future of her family.

"Mom, don't worry, I'm still young, there's no rush. Besides, you're here for me. You must try the food I brought back, it's really delicious."
