The Flute Demon Incident (VI)
Chi Ce pushed his chair aside and jumped up from his seat. Without the calm demeanor of a Taoist priest, he asked anxiously, "Is the Netherworld Song House related to the Flute Demon?"
The mayor nodded quickly and pushed the little girl behind him over: "It's related. That forest seems to be called the Netherworld Song House." The mayor pushed the little girl and signaled her to speak quickly.
The little girl pointed out: "I ran in to play and heard the sound of a flute and many women singing. I got lost and couldn't find my way back, but an older sister brought me back."
Chi Ce frowned. He had no idea what kind of people were at the Netherworld Song House and didn't know where to start. But someone sent her back, which was very suspicious. He asked, "Sister?"
The little girl said calmly, "A very beautiful sister, like a ball of blue mist, led me out quietly." Suddenly, as if remembering something, the little girl said, "She also told me not to let the flute demon know."
Chu Caiwu lay on the wooden table, took out the bloody gauze from his pocket and put it into the tea bowl.
Suddenly, Chu Caiwu was stared at by all eyes.
Sure enough, it was a familiar feeling again. She just wanted to fill her stomach and drink a mouthful of immortal blood.
Is eating gauze so unconventional?
If Yin Zhuo were there, Chu Caiwu wouldn't have to eat gauze.
The mayor's eyes were filled with lust, and he asked with shame, "Miss, the town...is not welcoming enough."
Then, the villagers came over in a rush and placed all kinds of red and white meat strips and green vegetables in front of Chu Caiwu.
Chu Caiwu turned a blind eye, his eyes only on the cup of gauze dry food. He picked up the immortal blood and took a sip.
She looked around at the villagers. There was sincerity and, more importantly, pity on their faces.
The mayor seemed to have changed his personality. Perhaps, in the final analysis, he found it too difficult to understand why she was eating gauze.
The middle-aged woman said with pity: "Girl, you are the benefactor of our town. No matter how poor the town is, we can't let you eat gauze."
Chu Caiwu was in a daze when an egg was suddenly stuffed into her arms. She placed the egg on the table and said helplessly, "It's not that I don't have anything to eat, I can only eat immortal blood."
"Eating...blood", everyone gasped and talked about it. They had never seen anyone drink blood, it was very creepy.
"Report! Report--" A villager came running from a distance, interrupting the discussion of the crowd. The silence seemed suffocating.
The villager who reported the news rushed into the crowd and said to the mayor: "A very suspicious man has come with a child."
Everyone sighed again. It was just a small matter, and there was no need to be so shocked.
Chu Caiwu pressed the table, quickly stood up, ran to the messenger, and asked, "Where are they?"
The messenger shook his head and warned everyone, "That man is as white as dumpling wrappers and as handsome as a goblin. He doesn't look old enough to have children, so why is he carrying a child?" The messenger demanded, "Are you all waiting to be captured by the goblin?"
Chu Caiwu listened to the description and became more and more delighted. Yin Zhuo is back! The food coupons are back!
The fennel leaves on her head swayed slightly, and she couldn't contain her excitement.
Chi Ce secretly glanced at Chu Caiwu, and a nameless bitterness welled up in his heart. Why had he always been suppressed by Yin Zhuo since he was a child?
The Demon Lord's kindness to Yin Zhuo was something Chi Ce had to fight for on the battlefield. He hated Yin Zhuo for being able to get everything he wanted but could not get so easily.
Chu Caiwu explained to everyone: "That person is my friend, he is not a demon."
"Mom!" A child's voice suddenly sounded from behind the crowd.
Before Chu Caiwu could turn around, Xiaojiu hugged her tightly. She looked up and saw Yin Zhuo walking towards her slowly. He seemed unhappy.
Chu Caiwu hugged Xiaojiu back and asked worriedly, "What took you so long?"
Xiaojiu lowered his head in thought, and was about to speak when he was pulled behind him by Yin Zhuo. Yin Zhuo didn't want to reveal too much. The long delay was naturally due to his physical condition. He didn't want to reveal the conflict between the forces of immortals and demons.
The mayor stepped forward, looked at Yin Zhuo, and asked cautiously, "Who are you?"
Chi Ce answered on behalf of Yin Zhuo, "He is my junior fellow apprentice." Although Chi Ce hated Yin Zhuo, he had to rescue him in order to investigate the flute demon. After all, having a helper would give him a better chance of success.
The mayor flattered Yin Zhuo on the surface: "Hello, Taoist priest." Without waiting for Yin Zhuo to reply, the mayor directly invited Chi Ce to take a seat and continued to discuss the matter of the Netherworld Song House.
Yin Zhuo was left alone and forgotten there.
Chu Caiwu grabbed Yin Zhuo's arm and said, "Come on, let's go and listen to what they are talking about, Blue Mist!"
Yin Zhuo held Chu Caiwu down with his backhand.
Chu Caiwu felt a sense of pressure. Why did he look so unhappy as soon as he came back? It was really a letdown.
Yin Zhuo asked: "Do you know how dangerous it is outside? Why do you want to go alone?"
Danger.
Chu Caiwu was about to retort, but she gradually felt guilty. She had been beaten to a bloody pulp by a man in Dingbei Town, and was nearly strangled to death by Feng Di...
Chu Caiwu replied weakly, "I, I'm afraid of being captured by the immortals."
Yin Zhuo clenched his fists, but then released them: "Next time, if you trust me, you can tell me. It's safer than leaving without any preparation."
Chu Caiwu leaned closer and looked at Yin Zhuo openly. Yin Zhuo looked serious, which was quite cute. After all, Yin Zhuo was so serious because he cared about her.
Taking advantage of Yin Zhuo's unpreparedness, Chu Caiwu placed both hands on the corners of Yin Zhuo's mouth and gestured upwards, with the corners of his mouth raised. Chu Caiwu tilted her head and said, "Smile!"
Chu Caiwu couldn't help but poke Yin Zhuo's face. It was tenderer than an egg and the feeling was unforgettable.
Yin Zhuoying's fair and smooth face flushed red. He stepped back, broke away from Chu Caiwu, and said, "Respect yourself."
Chu Caiwu's body was swaying, and he kept chattering: "I just want to make you happy!"
Yin Zhuo's face turned even redder and he changed the subject: "Let's go and listen to Lan Wu."
Chu Caiwu jumped up, grabbed Yin Zhuo's wrist, and wanted to take him to the mayor and Chi Ce.
Xiaojiu stumbled after him and said, "Wait for me."
Chu Caiwu turned around, she almost forgot about Xiaojiu. She glanced at Xiaojiu and Yin Zhuo, and suddenly found that they were still wearing summer clothes.
Chu Caiwu suddenly stopped and said to Yin Zhuo, "Let's not go to listen to Lan Wu yet. I've prepared a coat for you. Put it on before you go."
Chu Caiwu was thankful that she remembered that Yin Zhuo was her big food coupon, and she absolutely could not let him freeze to death in Dingbei Town.
Yin Zhuo was stunned: "You specially prepared a coat for me?"
Chu Caiwu hurried to get the jacket and said casually, "It's not that special."
Xiaojiu blinked her watery eyes, full of anticipation: "Mommy, mommy, do I have a coat too?"
Chu Caiwu picked up the jacket and held it in his hand: "Hey, well, I forgot..."
Yin Zhuo hesitated: "Are you afraid of being hungry? If you are, I will cut you a few times."
Chu Caiwu swallowed his saliva. It had been a long time since he had eaten fresh immortal blood. He hesitated and said, "Uh... I want to eat it."
Yin Zhuo transformed the void into a blade, and just as it scratched the skin, it was blocked by Chu Caiwu.
Chu Caiwu protested, "Don't cut me! It's so cold, and you're not even wearing a coat. You can't handle it!"
Yin Zhuo didn't dare to look at Chu Caiwu, and then looked at Xiaojiu. Yin Zhuo said: "Actually, there's no need to prepare a coat for me. Give the coat to Xiaojiu."
Chu Caiwu said firmly: "This is just for you, put it on quickly, I will prepare it for Xiaojiu later."
Yin Zhuo asked himself quietly: "Just for me?"
While Yin Zhuo was not paying attention, Chu Caiwu lifted Yin Zhuo's arm and put the jacket on him.
Xiaojiu asked doubtfully, "Will mother be cold wearing only a green silk skirt?"
Chu Caiwu shook her head. Her true form was fennel, which could dispel cold, so of course she was not afraid of the cold.
Chu Caiwu was satisfied at the moment. Yin Zhuo's food coupons would not be frozen. She pulled Yin Zhuo and skipped through the crowd. She saw Chi Ce and the mayor talking, but there were no empty seats there.
The mayor sat firmly on the chair, showing no intention of giving up his seat. He asked politely, "Master, would you like to sit down?"
Yin Zhuo said: "Thank you very much, but it's not necessary."
Chu Caiwu thought about it and looked at her food coupons. If Yin Zhuo stood for a long time, he would definitely get tired, and if he was tired, it would hurt his body, and she would not be able to eat good quality immortal blood.
Chu Caiwu walked through the crowd and moved an empty chair from the courtyard. The crowd retreated to the sides. She moved the chair next to Yin Zhuo and said, "You're tired of standing. Come and sit down."
Chu Caiwu pushed Yin Zhuo and forced him to sit down.
The cheers of the surrounding villagers grew louder, and envious glances were cast over.
Chi Ce was helpless and said, "Everyone, be quiet. The most important thing now is the flute demon." Chi Ce waved to Chu Caiwu and said, "After sunset today, you and I will go to the Netherworld Song House to investigate."
The mayor interrupted, "What about this Taoist priest?"
Chi Ce vetoed it and said, "This time she will be the bait. With me protecting her, she will be safe."
Chu Caiwu pulled Yin Zhuo and said aggrievedly, "I don't want to be bait. I'm scared."
Chi Ce used his magic power to secretly transmit a message to Yin Zhuo: "The flute demon is involved in the missing persons of the demon clan. Do you want to stop it? If Chu Caiwu doesn't go and can't catch the flute demon, I wonder how you will explain it to the Demon Lord."
Yin Zhuo didn't reply to Chi Ce's message, and said to Chu Caiwu: "Don't be afraid, I will go with you."
The mayor hesitated. He looked at Yin Zhuo. He didn't look like a Taoist priest. He was handsome but frail, and seemed like a hindrance. The mayor asked doubtfully, "Wouldn't it be too much trouble for two Taoist priests to go?"
Chi Ce pretended to be sincere and said, "My junior brother, your cultivation is indeed not very good, and it would be a great trouble for you to go."
The surrounding villagers started to make noises: "That's right, that Taoist priest is still the most reliable."
Chu Caiwu felt very uncomfortable listening to the many doubts around her. These people only judged others by appearances. They had called her a witch before, and now they were asking her to be bait.
Now, they don’t know Yin Zhuo at all, but they veto him.
Chu Caiwu really couldn't stand it anymore. No one could bully Yin Zhuo, so why should they bully her food coupons?
Chu Caiwu cleared his cough and made a loud bet: "I can go to the Netherworld Song House and serve as bait for you." Chu Caiwu pointed at Yin Zhuo: "But I have to take him with me, and after I come back, none of you are allowed to say that he is unreliable!"
