Chapter 73: Encountering Senior Fang Xun Again

After making breakfast, He Sui sat down opposite Cong Nian.

He held his head up and yawned.

He had only slept for less than four hours and was very sleepy.

"Why don't you go back and continue sleeping?"

Cong Nian bit her chopsticks and looked at the bruise under his eye.

Did he play games all night again last night?

"What about you?"

He Sui opened his eyes slightly and looked at her.

"I should go out with He He to do homework later."

Although the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday is three days long, the homework is still very heavy.

"Okay, I'll go back and catch up on my sleep."

I felt relieved when I heard that she was going out with Yu Xinghe.

After Cong Nian finished breakfast, he sent a message to Yu Xinghe.

【Will you go to Xunwei Bookstore to do your homework later?】

Because of her noise this morning, it's already past ten o'clock.

Yu Xinghe almost never sleeps in. She has always been so self-disciplined that it's scary.

At this point...she should have gone out for a morning run and come back to have dinner.

Sure enough, within two minutes, Yu Xinghe replied "OK".

After washing the dishes, Cong Nian went upstairs to pack her schoolbag.

I put the homework and books I was going to take into my bag, and caught a glimpse of the Snow White figurine on the table.

He Sui secretly gave this to her after they came back from the amusement park yesterday evening.

Cong Nian felt warm in her heart and thought of what He Sui had said to her in the morning.

Is he praising her?

Thinking of this, the smile on his face grew even wider.

I went out with my bag on my back. The sky was gloomy, with a few clouds floating in the air that looked like they were dyed with black ink.

Cong Nian glanced at the weather forecast.

It will rain today.

So she went back to her room and put her newly bought umbrella into her bag.

Then he went out.

There was a "ding-ling" sound, and Cong Nian pushed the door open and walked in.

I arrived early today and there was no one else in the store except the owner.

The record player played gentle piano music.

After ordering a cup of hot milk, Cong Nian sat by the window.

When the gray cat saw her, he walked out of the cat bed nearby and stretched out his body on the ground.

Then he jumped onto her desk and rubbed against her hand.

Cong Nian touched its little head, and it lay down on its belly.

Yu Xinghe hadn't arrived yet, so he sent her a message saying that he had just left.

Picking up the gray cat, Cong Nian walked towards the bookshelf beside him.

There are a few new books on the bookshelf that have not yet been opened.

On the top floor, there is a book called "The School Bully Brother's Little Milk Bag is Super Sweet".

She had never seen it before, so she felt curious and reached out to take it.

However, my height is a disadvantage. Even if I stand on tiptoe and stretch my arms as far as possible, I can only touch the edge of the book.

The gray cat dozed in her arms, its two little paws resting on her left breast.

Suddenly, the gray cat meowed and looked at the person behind it with its big round brown eyes.

A white hand with distinct joints and rounded nails.

With a gentle pinch of the edge of the book between her index finger and thumb, the book was pulled out and brought to her.

"Is this the one?"

A clear and melodious voice sounded from behind her.

"Thanks."

Cong Nian took the book and turned around with a smile on his face.

Thinking of thanking the person who helped her get the book.

However, the moment she saw the person behind her, she was stunned.

"Fang, Senior Fang Xun."

Yes, the person who came was Fang Xun.

He came to return a book.

"Student Cong Nian."

Fang Xun curled his lips, and when he smiled, there was a faint line of bags under his eyes.

He didn't expect to meet her here.

Cong Nian blinked.

No wonder so many girls in school are so crazy about him.

That smile is more beautiful than the flowers in spring, the scorching sun in summer, the fallen leaves in autumn and the snow in winter.

"Why are you here?"

Cong Nian looked behind him, but Senior Sister Nan Qiao was not there.

It seems he came alone.

"I'm here to return the book."

Fang Xun raised his hand, still smiling, and shook the two books in his hand.

One blue and one red.

Looking at the cover of the book, it looks like foreign literature.

"Have you read this book too?"

"Which one?"

Fang Xun raised his eyebrows and stared at her fair little face.

"There were sixpences all over the floor, but he looked up and saw the moon."

(Note: The Moon and Sixpence, a novel by British novelist Somerset Maugham, is a common source material for high school essays.)

There was a moving light in her eyes, like a small whirlpool.

Constantly attracting people to the center of the vortex.

When talking about the contents of the book, his eyes would look up and a faint smile would appear on the corners of his mouth.

At this moment, Fang Xun admitted that he was a little surprised by her.

"Have you seen..."

Cong Nian was holding the sleeping cat, while Fang Xun was sitting on a high chair next to her.

It started raining outside the window at some point, and the raindrops slid down the window, leaving behind streaks of water.

The two maintained a polite distance between them and talked freely about the books they had read.

Then they discovered, surprisingly, that the types of things they had seen were highly overlapping.

People always talk more when they meet someone who shares the same interests as them.

I don’t know if it was because of the rain, but after a quarter of an hour, Yu Xinghe still hadn’t arrived.

With Cong Nian's recommendation, Fang Xun borrowed several more books of the same type.

When I waved goodbye, I realized it started raining.

Raindrops fell along the high eaves, and a few drops were blown by the wind and fell on his head, wetting a small piece of hair.

"You can use mine."

Cong Nian took out an umbrella from her bag and generously lent it to him.
