Chapter 1: Transmigrating to the 1970s, Heaven Sends a Man

When Xia Lan opened her eyes, she felt as if she were being held down by a ghost, unable to move and without any strength.

A man with a full beard came into view. Xia Lan stared at the man's eyes hidden in his beard, and the dazzling light made her pause in surprise.

He was only thirty centimeters away from her; she could even feel his breath on her face.

Xia Lan asked weakly, "Who are you?"

Seeing Xia Lan finally open her eyes and wake up, the man's eyes flashed with surprise, and his deep voice sounded, "You're awake? Are you feeling better?"

“You jumped into the river, and I rescued you. I originally wanted to take you home, but your uncle said that since I had already touched you, you were mine now, and he wouldn't let you go home. But don't worry, I won't force you. I won't stop you if you want to leave, but... in other people's eyes, you're already mine, and you can't go home. Why don't you stay? I'll take responsibility for you!” The sincerity in the man's eyes didn't seem like a joke.

Xia Lan clutched her head, unfamiliar images flashing through her mind, her pained expression worrying the man. "What's wrong?"

"My head... hurts so much!" Xia Lan felt as if her head had been stabbed hard with needles, the pain was so intense it was maddening.

"I'll take you to the clinic!" The man immediately picked Xia Lan up and rushed out of the room.

Xia Lan then saw what the house she had just been in looked like. This was the first time she had ever seen a house made entirely of yellow earth. Wasn't that a specialty from the old days in TV dramas?

Not knowing what had happened to her or how she ended up there, Xia Lan leaned weakly against the man, feeling his strong and powerful arms, each step he took steady and powerful.

The man led Xia Lan to a dilapidated house, where a man in a white coat approached. "What, it's you again? Didn't I tell you, she's fine, just a little feverish. She's already taken medicine and the fever has gone down, hasn't it? She just needs to go home and get some rest for a few days."

The doctor's attitude wasn't good. The man pursed his lips and said in a deep voice, "She said her head hurts terribly!"

"Headache? That shouldn't be the case." The doctor frowned, looking at Xia Lan in the man's arms. "Where does your head hurt?"

"My whole head is throbbing, and I can't remember anything..." Xia Lan replied weakly, leaning against the man's chest.

"I can't help you with this either. Why don't you take her to the hospital in town?" the doctor said to the man.

Clearly, he lacked the necessary skills and was unable to handle the problem.

The man picked up Xia Lan and prepared to head into the city. Xia Lan tugged at his clothes, and the man looked down. "What is it?"

"Don't go to the city, let's go back! I feel much better, maybe I'll feel better after another nap," Xia Lan said softly to the man. The man frowned, seemingly considering the credibility of Xia Lan's words.

In the end, the man carried Xia Lan back to the earthen house, encountering many people along the way.

"Stone, where did you take your wife?" an aunt asked.

“She has a headache, I’ll take her to the clinic,” Xia Lan heard the man reply.

"You must have spent a lot of money to marry this wife, but how come she's so sickly? She's always complaining of aches and pains and running to the clinic. What family can afford to have a sick wife like that?" The aunt's words were full of disdain, showing her disdain for Xia Lan.

"This is my wife," the man said earnestly. "It's only natural for a man to take care of his wife."

Hearing this, Xia Lan felt a bit more favorably toward the man.

The man gently placed Xia Lan back on the bed and then turned and left.

As Xia Lan lay in bed, the memories in her mind were gradually absorbed and integrated by her body. After reviewing the memories, even with her good temper, Xia Lan couldn't help but utter a famous quote.

"Grass."

She was a modern woman of the 20th century. She had finally established her own company, and everything was on track. She had also saved some assets and was preparing to enjoy life. However, a drunk driver crashed into her car, causing her to die in a car accident. As a result, her soul traveled to the 1970s and entered the body of this poor orphan girl, becoming her.

Her life ended just as it began, and so did the owner of that body.

She originally had a happy family. Her father, Xia Liang, was a well-known carpenter in the village. The three of them lived in the village. Her father's hard work brought them a good life. However, their good fortune did not last long. When her father was logging in Zhishan, he encountered a giant tiger. By the time the village chief and his men found him, two-thirds of his body had already been eaten.

Xia Lan's mother was devastated by this and fell ill. She died soon after, leaving Xia Lan, an orphan, as the once happy Xia family.

Xia Lan's life should have been good, but her greedy uncle took advantage of her being an orphan and wanted to take care of her, so he moved into her house and occupied it. Then, under the guise of being her uncle, he married her off to her current husband, Qin Yu.

On her wedding day, Xia Lan learned that she was going to marry a stranger. The gentle Xia Lan rebelled for the first time, but was threatened by her uncle. In despair, she chose to end her life by jumping into the river in the dead of winter. Her soul entered her body as the original owner's life dissipated, and she became Xia Lan.

Even though the water surface wasn't frozen in the dead of winter, the temperature was still unbearable for most people.

Fortunately, Qin Yu was just about to sneak a peek at his fiancée when he happened to see Xia Lan jump into the river. Qin Yu rescued Xia Lan, but her uncle didn't care about her life or death. He said that he had already married her off to Qin Yu, so she was Qin Yu's woman and refused to let her go home. So Qin Yu took Xia Lan home.

For two days while she had a fever, Qin Yu carried her to the clinic several times and took care of her all night without daring to leave, which pulled her back from the brink of death.

My fever just broke today.

Xia Lan trembled with anger after receiving this unfamiliar memory.

Xia Lan's uncle took advantage of her ignorance of the law. Xia Lan's father, Xia Liang, and her younger brother, Xia Ming, had separated many years ago, and the two families had written a letter of severance back then. However, Xia Lan was unaware of this and did not remember that such a letter existed.

Xia Liang has no other children besides Xia Lan, so everything in the Xia family should belong to Xia Lan.

When Qin Yu brought the cooked porridge into the room, he saw Xia Lan's angry face. "What's wrong? I know you're not happy about our marriage..."

Qin Yu thought Xia Lan had finally come to her senses and was unwilling to marry him, and was about to speak when Xia Lan suddenly turned her head and looked him up and down. "Can you tell me about your family situation?"
