Chapter 19 Are all the sales clerks in department stores this arrogant?

"I'll take two, one six-inch and one two-inch," Xia Lan said after thinking for a moment. "The larger one will have a frame, and the smaller one will go in my wallet."

"Okay, come pick it up in seven days." The photographer nodded and looked at Xia Lan and Qin Yu.

"I have green military uniforms available here. Would you like to change into them?" The photographer pointed to the green military uniforms hanging on the side. These are the most popular clothes right now, and almost everyone who comes to take wedding photos likes to wear them.

Xia Lan looked at Qin Yu, who chuckled. "Do you want to wear it?"

"I want to see you in your military uniform." Xia Lan nodded expectantly, and Qin Yu naturally chose to fulfill his wife's wish, walking to the cabinet and putting on the long-unseen military uniform.

Clothes make the man, and when Qin Yu put on his military uniform, he looked like a completely different person.

Qin Yu's muscles still retained their memory. The moment he put on the military uniform, he subconsciously straightened his back, becoming upright and dignified. His eyes shone with light, his eyebrows were sharp, and his upward-pointing eyebrows resembled swords. His whole being exuded a dignified and righteous aura.

It was as if his whole body was glowing, making Xia Lan's heart pound.

It's just that... the beard on his face is a bit of an eyesore.

Xia Lan also changed into a women's military uniform, then took her braids apart and re-tied them into fishtail braids, adjusting the tightness of the braids.

Qin Yu looked at Xia Lan, who was braiding his hair. Her big eyes were bright and clear, and her fair skin had a pinkish tinge. Wearing a military uniform added a touch of heroism to her cuteness, but also a hint of playfulness.

Two different styles, yet they added to Xia Lan's beauty.

Her beautiful and playful face exuded an uncompromising aura, making it difficult for Qin Yu to look away.

"Please sit down in front of that red cloth, and then look this way." The photographer gestured for the two to sit on the chairs in front of the red cloth, and looked at Qin Yu and Xia Lan sitting together, their eyes filled with sweetness as they looked at each other.

“You two are such a perfect match,” the photographer said with a smile. “I’ve photographed quite a few couples, but you two are the first couple I’ve ever seen who I feel are such a perfect match at first glance.”

Newlyweds who have obtained their marriage certificate will choose to take a wedding photo if they can afford it. However, those who can afford it are often attracted to each other's qualities, and the two of them will lack that feeling when they are together.

"Thank you." Xia Lan smiled slightly, tilting her head slightly towards Qin Yu, who also tilted his head in Xia Lan's direction.

"Okay, listen to my command, three, two, one... Congratulations on your marriage!" the photographer said to the couple.

Upon hearing the photographer's words, Xia Lan and Qin Yu's eyes lit up, and they instinctively smiled.

The photographer's eyes lit up, and the sweet smiles of the two were forever captured in this photo.

"Is it done?" Xia Lan watched as the photographer crawled into the black cloth, then a flash of white light appeared, and white smoke rose from somewhere.

"It's all done. Come pick up the photos in seven days." The photographer nodded, emerged from the black cloth, and said to the two of them.

After Xia Lan and Qin Yu took off their green military uniforms and left the photo studio, Qin Yu took Xia Lan for a stroll around the county town.

Xia Lan looked at the bustling street, where people in work clothes came and went, and the bicycles, pedicabs, and buses that belonged to this era...

I was deeply moved by the simplicity and honesty of this era.

"Where are we going?" Xia Lan asked Qin Yu, who was leading the way, with curiosity.

"I'll take you to the department store in the county town to buy clothes," Qin Yu replied without turning his head.

“I have clothes to wear,” Xia Lan said quickly after a moment of surprise.

"No, today is our wedding day. Don't worry about money, I can afford it," Qin Yu said firmly, pulling Xia Lan into the department store and heading straight for the clothing counter.

The clothes in the department store were displayed behind the counters. Qin Yu said to Xia Lan, "Take a look, which one do you like?"

The sales clerk at the counter was knitting, and after glancing at the clothes Qin Yu and Xia Lan were wearing, she lowered her head and continued knitting, thinking that Qin Yu and Xia Lan couldn't possibly afford the clothes here.

"If you want to buy clothes, go to the supply and marketing cooperative across the street. The clothes here aren't cheap," the sales clerk said casually, her tone carrying a hint of disdain.

A fleeting glint of coldness crossed Qin Yu's eyes.

"Could you please take that red dress down? I need a medium size." Xia Lan pursed her lips, her expression turning cold.

"This is the latest arrival, an eight-panel dress with a wavy collar. It's the only one of its kind in the county. Once the size is sold out, it's gone. It's twelve yuan." The sales clerk glanced up at Xia Lan.

The look in his eyes was practically a direct message that Xia Lan couldn't afford it and that she should stop bothering her.

Xia Lan took out twenty yuan from her pocket and slammed it heavily on the counter. The loud noise was particularly noticeable in the department store, startling many people.

"What? Do you look down on me because I'm wearing old clothes?" Xia Lan held the money between two fingers and waved it at the sales clerk, speaking calmly.

"Excuse me, sir, I'll get it for you right away." Sensing Xia Lan's hostility, the sales clerk immediately put on a professional fake smile and took the clothes down for Xia Lan.

Just as Xia Lan's hand was about to touch the dress, the sales clerk suddenly spoke up again. "Don't touch it if you're not buying it! You'll have to pay for it if you break it."

Qin Yu's expression changed, and he was about to take a step forward when Xia Lan stopped him and said with a light smile to the sales clerk, "Please wrap this up for me."

"You want it?" The sales clerk's eyes lit up, and her smile became much friendlier.

"Yes." Xia Lan smiled slightly.

"I'll wrap it up for you right away." The sales clerk immediately took the clothes down and prepared to wrap them up for Xia Lan.

"How did you get my clothes dirty? I don't want the ones you've dirtied anymore, give me a new one," Xia Lan said to the sales clerk with a smile.

The salesperson's smile instantly froze.

"Are you deliberately causing trouble?" The sales clerk felt like Xia Lan had played a trick on her, and her face changed.

"How did I cause trouble? I just wanted to buy clothes. It's not like I don't have money or I don't want to buy anything. What kind of attitude is this? Is this the kind of service you get in department stores these days? It's so disappointing!" Xia Lan looked like she had been frightened by the sales clerk, her face pale and trembling.

"Brother Yu, let's go! Department stores like this are just for city people, they look down on us..." Xia Lan said sadly, leaning against Qin Yu with her eyes downcast.

People who came to the department store noticed what was happening to Xia Lan, and someone notified the store manager.

The leader happened to overhear Xia Lan's words when he arrived. Seeing the indignant expressions on the faces of the surrounding guests after hearing Xia Lan's words, he felt a chill in his heart.

This is bad; we can't let things continue like this.

Nowadays, sales clerks have an arrogant sense of superiority. The job of a sales clerk is glamorous, and everyone fawns over them. They are flattered every day, which inevitably spoils them and makes them develop bad tempers.
