Chapter 264 Xia Lan and the Army

Hearing Xia Lan's whisper, Xiao Yuqin's eyes lit up, and she looked at Xia Lan with surprise.

Xia Lan nodded affirmatively.

"Brother Yu is just shy and doesn't know how to get along with you guys. Besides, he's not the kind of person who likes to talk. He's rather introverted and calm."

Xia Lan explained on Qin Yu's behalf.

“I know, his personality is exactly like his father’s.”

Xiao Yuqin patted Xia Lan's hand and said happily.

Xiao Yuqin took the handbag beside her and took out a jade-green bracelet from it, placing it in Xia Lan's hand.

"Keep this safe! It's a family heirloom of the Qin family. I put it away because of the special circumstances before. Now that Qin Yu has gotten married, it should be passed on to you."

Xia Lan looked at the dazzling emerald green and gasped.

"Mom, I can't accept this. It's too expensive."

Xia Lan dared not bring it back to school!

If it gets lost, she can't afford to pay for it back.

"I need to get back to school! What if I get lost..."

Xia Lan resolutely refused.

"The school? That's really not a good place. Mom will keep this for you for now and give it to you later!"

Seeing that Xia Lan had said that, Xiao Yuqin put the envelope away and then took out another red envelope, placing it in Xia Lan's hand.

"You can refuse the bracelet, but you absolutely must accept this! It's a gift from him and his father to you!"

Xia Lan looked at the red envelope in her hand; she really couldn't refuse it.

After all, this means that Xiao Yuqin and Qin Jun value her.

Xia Lan glanced at Qin Yu, just as Qin Yu was looking at her.

Xia Lan gestured with her eyes to the red seal in her hand, asking Qin Yu a question.

Qin Yu nodded slightly.

Seeing that Qin Yu agreed, Xia Lan accepted it.

"Then... I'll accept it, thank you, Mom."

"Hey!"

Xiao Yuqin smiled happily.

"How about I take Mom to the department store this weekend?"

Xiao Yuqin pulled Xia Lan and invited her.

"Of course."

Xia Lan replied with a smile.

"What a good child! Thank you for staying by Qin Yu's side all this time, and thank you for helping me and Qin Jun recognize Qin Yu. If it weren't for you getting us out of that predicament, we wouldn't have had the chance to meet Qin Yu!"

Xiao Yuqin was truly grateful to Xia Lan; if Xia Lan hadn't discovered them and spoken up first...

She and Qin Jun are probably still lingering at the door, not daring to come in and disturb Qin Yu.

Firstly, they were afraid of offending Qin Yu, and secondly, they simply didn't have the courage.

Qin Jun was even more afraid than Qin Yu, fearing that Qin Yu would hate them, because he had been searching for his son for so many years without success.

They weren't there for their son when he needed them most. He has suffered so much. Even if he doesn't acknowledge them, they won't blame him.

Therefore, Xia Lan, acting as a bridge, played a very important role, providing them with a way to approach Qin Yu and allowing them to meet with him calmly.

She and Qin Jun considered many possibilities, but none of them turned out well.

Xia Lan helped them overcome their biggest obstacle.

"Just like you said, I also hope that Brother Yu will have no regrets in the future and will not regret the decision he made today!"

Xia Lan winked at Xiao Yuqin.

"So I'm still helping Qin Yu, you're thanking the wrong person."

Xiao Yuqin looked at the playful Xia Lan and smiled as she ruffled her hair.

"Why do you like to rub my head just like Brother Yu?"

Xia Lan watched as she naturally reached out and ruffled her hair. The gesture was very similar to Qin Yu's; both of them liked to rub their hair with a slight pressure from their fingertips.

"Really? What else does he have?" Xiao Yuqin was delighted. It really was her subconscious action just now. She didn't expect it to be the same as Qin Yu's.

Xia Lan smiled and told Xiao Yuqin about some of Qin Yu's hobbies that she knew.

The image of her son became clearer and clearer in Xiao Yuqin's mind.

"He's just like his dad! Just as stubborn, just as right!"

As Xiao Yuqin smiled, her eyes welled up with tears.

How much of their son's life they missed! These should have been the best times of their lives as parents.

They regretfully did not get to witness their son's growth.

Xia Lan watched as Xiao Yuqin wiped away her tears and quietly stayed by her side.

Qin Jun and Qin Yu noticed Xiao Yuqin and Xia Lan's movements. Although they were sitting facing each other, their eyes kept looking in the direction of Xia Lan and the others.

Qin Jun noticed that Xiao Yuqin was crying, so he stood up abruptly and walked to her side.

Xia Lan stood up and gave him her seat. Qin Jun gently held Xiao Yuqin in his arms, leaned down and softly coaxed her. Xiao Yuqin gradually calmed down in his arms.

Xia Lan returned to Qin Yu's side, and Qin Yu reached out and took Xia Lan's hand.

Xia Lan smiled in response.

"Excuse me, I was rude!"

Qin Jun comforted Xiao Yuqin, and the two got up and came to Qin Yu. Xiao Yuqin's eyes were red, and she said shyly.

"Then we'll head back now!"

Qin Jun nodded to Qin Yu and Xia Lan.

"See you tomorrow."

Qin Yu looked at Xiao Yuqin, who was reluctant to part, and gave her a smile.

Xiao Yuqin was delighted to see Qin Yu smile at her.

After Qin Jun and Xiao Yuqin left, Xia Lan turned around and looked at Qin Yu curiously.

"What did you two just talk about?"

Xia Lan mimicked the way Qin Yu and Qin Jun had just looked at each other and asked.

"……nothing."

Qin Yu turned his head away, somewhat embarrassed.

"He just... asked me if I wanted to go back to the army. He's my father, and he'll make arrangements for me."

Qin Yu answered softly.

Xia Lan was taken aback. Qin Jun wanted Qin Yu to return to the army.
