Qin Yu carried Xia Lan home, and Xia Lan immediately jumped down from Qin Yu's arms as if nothing had happened.
"Your acting out the illness is already incredibly skillful." Qin Yu chuckled and playfully pinched Xia Lan's nose, and Xia Lan smiled smugly.
"I had a feeling they wouldn't say anything nice, and I didn't want to waste my time with them," Xia Lan said with a light snort.
"Shitou, is Xia Xia alright...?" Aunt Liu rushed back anxiously and called out.
Xia Lan slowly walked out and smiled at Aunt Liu. "Aunt Liu, I'm fine. I was just overwhelmed by the smell in the car."
"You silly girl, you're so weak! You still need to keep taking that medicine..." Aunt Liu saw Xia Lan's pale face and made up her mind to make her continue taking the Chinese medicine.
This girl is too weak; she gets carsick even when riding in a car.
"By the way, did you get your marriage certificate?" But Aunt Liu was more concerned about whether the two of them had managed to get their marriage certificate when they went to the county town.
Qin Yu came out and showed her the marriage certificate. "I got it."
"Not bad, not bad." Aunt Liu nodded with satisfaction and clapped Xia Lan's hand happily.
"You have no idea, the whole village is buzzing about it today. The news that you two are going to get your marriage certificate has spread throughout the village." Aunt Liu winked at Xia Lan.
Do you know how many young men came to the village today?
"...How much?" Xia Lan was taken aback.
“Eight young men, all kinds of them.” Aunt Liu held up eight fingers, and Qin Yu’s face immediately darkened.
Where are they?
"Knowing you were going to get your marriage certificate, how could I not leave?" Aunt Liu said smugly, hands on her hips. She was the one who told you to leave!
"Now you two are truly husband and wife. Live a good life together from now on," Aunt Liu said earnestly, looking at Qin Yu and Xia Lan.
"Thank you, Aunt Liu. Oh, right, I bought some wedding candy. Aunt Liu, wait for me a moment." Xia Lan ran back to her room, ready to grab a handful of wedding candy for Aunt Liu.
After Xia Lan returned to her room, Aunt Liu immediately pulled Qin Yu aside and asked, "How did it go?"
"What?" Qin Yu looked at Aunt Liu in confusion. What was she asking?
"Oh dear! You're such a dense boy. Tell me, what do you think of Xia Lan? Do you like her?" Aunt Liu asked earnestly.
"We're already married, how could I not like it?" Qin Yu pointed to the marriage certificate in his hand.
They're married now, of course he likes her!
Why would I marry someone I don't like?
"That's good, that's good." Aunt Liu was finally relieved. "You have no idea how I felt. If I hadn't seen these eight young men today, I wouldn't have known that so many people were thinking about Xia Lan!"
"I just found out myself." Qin Yu narrowed his eyes dangerously.
He wants to steal his wife; he's asking for trouble.
"Alright, from now on, protect your wife well and don't listen to those gossipy women, especially that Hu family!" Aunt Liu said seriously.
"She has always wanted you to marry her daughter. Now that you have married Xia Lan, she is always going against Xia Lan and saying hurtful things."
"What did she say?" Xia Lan came out and overheard Aunt Liu's words, asking curiously.
Aunt Liu didn't realize that the voice asking the question was a woman's and assumed it was Qin Yu asking, so she answered casually.
"Oh dear, it's all because Xia spent so much money, but she can't recover her health and won't be able to have a son in the future..."
"Anything else?"
"And another thing is, she's so pretty and beautiful, she definitely can't endure hardship, she'll probably run off with another man in the future..."
"Anything else?"
"The rest is just... uh..." Aunt Liu finally realized something was wrong, and when she turned around, she saw Xia Lan's resentful and angry face.
"Xia..." Aunt Liu smiled awkwardly, "You heard everything."
"Aunt Liu, what does Aunt Hu's daughter look like?" Xia Lan squinted her eyes, feeling it was necessary to meet the Hu family!
They really think she's easy to bully, spreading nonsense and ruining her reputation every day.
"She's definitely not as good as you," Aunt Liu said confidently. "She's dark-skinned and strong, and she's been on several dates, but none of them have been a good match."
"And she still dares to say that about me..." Xia Lan narrowed her eyes dangerously.
"That's just jealousy!" Aunt Liu patted Xia Lan on the shoulder. "Don't take it to heart, everything she said sounds like a lie."
“Aunt Liu, if you keep talking, even the dead can sound alive! We can’t let her say things like that…” Xia Lan said earnestly.
The initial public opinion was based on these seemingly false statements; after hearing them repeatedly, people naturally remembered them.
Qin Yu ruffled Xia Lan's hair. "Leave it to me."
"What are you going to do?" Xia Lan looked up at Qin Yu curiously, but Qin Yu said indifferently, "I'm going to beat up her son."
"..." Aunt Liu and Xia Lan rolled their eyes at him speechlessly.
"It's a woman's war, men should stand aside!" Xia Lan patted Qin Yu and took Aunt Liu's hand.
"Auntie, come on, you, follow me, we're going to the village to hand out wedding candy to everyone." Xia Lan pulled Aunt Liu ahead, beckoning Qin Yu to follow.
Xia Lan was about to go out when she saw five burly men walking over. One of them was carrying half a pig, and the others were carrying dried chickens, ducks, and other things.
"Brother Qin!" The fifth brother grinned at Qin Yu.
Aunt Liu froze the moment she saw these people.
Qin Yu noticed the meat on Lao Wu's back and immediately asked, "Where did you get the pork?"
"Hey, you're really lucky today. Just two villages away, your pig got into trouble and fell into the river and drowned, so I just asked you for half a pig." Old Wu grinned.
Aunt Liu's eyes widened. "Who would buy me half a door?! Did you steal it?!"
As soon as Aunt Liu said that, Lao Wu's face immediately darkened. He looked at Aunt Liu with a gloomy expression, and Xia Lan could feel that Aunt Liu was trembling with fear.
"How did you know? Did you happen to see me steal it?" The fifth brother narrowed his eyes, revealing his fierce nature.
"No, no, I didn't see anything." Aunt Liu immediately broke free from Xia Lan's hand and ran home.
"Tsk." The fifth brother scoffed disdainfully, while Xia Lan looked at him curiously.
Seeing that Xia Lan wasn't scared at all and was looking at him with curiosity, Lao Wu felt embarrassed by Xia Lan's stare.
"These are my five best brothers from childhood to adulthood," Qin Yu introduced to Xia Lan.
"This is the second son, Wang Tiezhu," Qin Yu introduced, pointing to the second son who was holding two dried chickens.
Xia Lan looked at the tall, imposing man in front of her, who was as tall as Qin Yu. He had dark skin and looked honest and steady, as if he had experienced a lot of hardships, making him look older than Qin Yu.
"Hello..." Xia Lan smiled slightly at Wang Tiezhu, but struggled with what to call him.
Is she going to call Qin Yu "Second Brother" too? That seems rather impolite.
Should I call him "Second Brother"? We've only just met; it seems we haven't gotten that intimate yet.
The second brother was also curious about what Xia Lan would call him. All of them stared at Xia Lan, anticipating her answer.
Xia Lan thought for a moment, then chuckled and called out, "Second Brother Wang."
