When Qin Yu first came to the army, he was young, and the veterans liked to teach new recruits the rules, but he stubbornly refused to listen.
He suffered a lot.
Lu Wu saw him, took him in, and took care of him.
Every time Qin Yu got injured, Lu Wu would curse him out, but then he would take good care of him.
For Qin Yu, Lu Wu was like a father figure.
It filled many gaps in his life and taught him many lessons.
When he was transferred to civilian work, he didn't dare tell Lu Wu because he was afraid that Lu Wu would be disappointed in him.
Xia Lan listened as Qin Yu recounted their past relationship, how he and Lu Wu were like teacher, father, and friend.
"You didn't tell him when you transferred to civilian work. He must have been very sad..."
Xia Lan looked at Qin Yu, who was slightly taken aback and pursed his lips.
"He probably doesn't have the guts. I'm afraid he'll be disappointed in me!"
Qin Yu looked up at the sky, remembering how he looked back then, a sight he desperately didn't want Lu Wu to see.
"What nonsense are you spouting, you brat!"
Lu Wu appeared behind Qin Yu without him noticing and slapped him hard on the head.
Xia Lan smiled at Lu Wu.
"Uncle Wu."
"Hey! Here, here's a red envelope from Uncle Wu! Take it!"
Upon hearing Xia Lan's words, Lu Wu happily took out the red envelope he had prepared. There was no red paper in the army, so he had to tear up the couplets to wrap it.
Xia Lan accepted it with a smile without any hesitation.
"Thank you, Uncle Wu."
Xia Lan's "you're welcome" made Lu Wu's smile deepen.
"What incredible luck you have to marry such a wonderful wife."
Lu Wu patted Qin Yu on the shoulder; he really liked Xia Lan.
"Isn't that just pure luck?"
Qin Yu smiled, his eyes filled with love as he looked at Xia Lan.
"If I hadn't heard your name on the way, I would have thought I was hallucinating! What are you doing in this military unit?"
Lu Wu looked at Qin Yu, who glanced at Xia Lan and then told Lu Wu about Zhao Pandi.
"What? How can there be such a despicable village? This is clearly feudal thinking! Who says that women can only be married and have children?"
Lu Wu's face turned red with anger after hearing this.
"They're killing people! They're absolutely inhuman!"
"Slow down! Have you forgotten that you can't stand being bullied? You still have such a temper!"
Qin Yu patted Lu Wu on the back and coaxed him.
"Hmph! I've been on the battlefield and fought the Japanese devils, why would I be afraid of this little panting?"
Lu Wu disagreed and turned his head away arrogantly.
Watching Qin Yu and Lu Wu bickering while Qin Yu kept patting Lu Wu's back to calm him down, Xia Lan smiled gently.
This is a pair of sworn enemies, father and son.
"The most infuriating thing is you! I even risked my dignity back then, and you just leave like that! Don't I have any pride?"
After Lu Wu finished speaking, he continued hitting Qin Yu.
Qin Yu let Lu Wu hit him and laughed.
“You’re wrong about that! If I didn’t come home, how would I have found you such a good daughter-in-law?”
Qin Yu's words made Lu Wu pause instantly.
"Uncle Wu, come home with your son. I'll take care of you from now on!"
Qin Yu looked at Lu Wu and said seriously.
The fact that they met again this time proves that they are still connected and can continue their 'father-son' relationship.
He won't leave him alone anymore.
"Nonsense! You have a father."
Lu Wu turned away and secretly wiped away his tears.
"What's wrong with that? It doesn't say you can't acknowledge a father! Right?"
Qin Yu looked at Lu Wu's back and said dismissively.
“You’ve looked after his son for so many years, so it’s perfectly reasonable for me to call you Dad.”
Qin Yu smiled.
"Get lost! What nonsense are you talking about?"
Lu Wu smiled and smiled... then his eyes reddened again.
"Honey, what do you think? How about we bring Dad home?"
Qin Yu turned to look at Xia Lan.
His eyes were pleading.
Xia Lan smiled.
“You’ve already called us Dad! Of course we have to take you home.”
"Did you hear that, Uncle Wu? Your daughter-in-law said it! You have to come home with me this time, no matter what!"
Qin Yu gave Lu Wu no room to refuse.
"You little brat, you're such a fool! You even dragged Lanlan into your nonsense!"
Lu Wu glared at Qin Yu, tears welling in his eyes.
"I've prepared rooms for you. Stay here tonight! I've already spoken to your friends; put it on my tab."
Lu Wu said to Qin Yu and Xia Lan.
"Thank you, Dad."
Xia Lan smiled at Lu Wu.
"Eh."
Lu Wu was taken aback after finishing his reply, and looked at Xia Lan with amusement.
"Looks like your wife is just as mischievous as you! Laughing at this old man."
Helpless, Lu Wu turned and left.
"I'll go get you some food, just wait."
Qin Yu and Xia Lan exchanged a glance and smiled knowingly.
Lu Wu, walking with his hands behind his back on the way to the cafeteria, was all smiles.
"You brat."
"Greetings, Commander."
Several patrolling soldiers saluted Lu Wu.
"Oh, go ahead! Go and rest when you've finished your patrol."
Lu Wu smiled, waved, and walked past them.
The soldiers were stunned when they saw Lu Wu's smiling face.
"Did you just see that? The division commander smiled."
"I saw it... I thought I was seeing things! Is it going to rain blood?"
"He actually told us to go rest after the patrol? Is this really our unit's notoriously strict division commander?"
"..."
Those who saw Lu Wu smiling that day almost doubted their own eyes.
Lu Wu didn't care what others said; he was already very happy to have met Qin Yu.
