"How could you do this! You just abandon such a good family like that! You just leave like that, there's no law! There's no justice..."
Watching the old woman throw a tantrum, Sudan took a deep breath, utterly speechless at her behavior.
"Sister-in-law, come home with us right now! Stop acting up! You can do whatever you want, just come home with us!"
"We can talk this over, little brother, I'm begging you, okay?"
"Look at how our mother is. If you don't care about my brother, you should at least care about my mother, right?"
The men then stepped in to add fuel to the fire, making it seem as if the Sultan would commit a grave crime if he didn't go with them.
"Young wife! Listen to your brother-in-law! Hurry up and go home with them!"
"That's right! Things are already like this, don't cause any more trouble for everyone, okay?"
That's enough, stop being so dramatic!
"You're not bad-looking at all! How can you be such an ingrate?"
"..."
People around them started speaking up for the mother and son, convinced that Sultan was their runaway wife.
The Sultan looked at them with a truly constipated expression.
These people are really something, giving advice without even knowing the situation!
Sultan rolled his eyes at everyone.
"Train conductor, I need to call the police! Someone here is trying to traffic women!"
Sudan shouted directly.
"Sister-in-law!"
The man was startled, and his face turned fierce.
"You must come home with us today!"
The man pulled the old woman up, and the two of them grabbed Sudan's hands and tried to drag her out.
"Let go! Help! I really don't know them! They're human traffickers..."
Sudan couldn't break free from the two men and was about to be pulled off the train when a male train conductor rushed out, kicked the man aside, and shielded Sudan behind him.
"What do you intend to do to Comrade Su Fan?"
Bai Xiao stared coldly at the mother and son in front of him.
"Comrade, you've misunderstood! This is my eldest daughter-in-law. She just had a fight with my son and wanted to run away from home! We want to bring her home..."
The old woman shrugged her shoulders again, feigning pitifulness, trying to persuade Bai Xiao not to meddle.
"Yes, yes! Train conductor, we all heard that!"
People around them stood up and spoke up for the mother and son.
The mother and son exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with smugness.
"What did you hear? What do you know that you're just making a fuss about?"
Bai Xiao was so angry that his face turned red when he heard that these foolish people were actually helping the mother and son.
"This is Comrade Sudan from Beijing University, who is preparing to go home for summer vacation. I personally saw her off! She's unmarried! You believed what these two people said?"
Bai Xiao coldly cursed at these people.
"You know nothing and yet you're helping these two people of unknown origin to get Comrade Sultan arrested?"
How can you be so lacking in judgment?
Bai Xiao's words stunned everyone who had just helped the mother and son.
Unexpectedly, the train conductor knew Sudan, and the mother and son immediately panicked and tried to get off the train.
"Close the door! These two are human traffickers!"
Bai Xiao gave the order, and the train attendant at the door immediately closed the door.
The mother and son were trapped in the passageway.
"We've mistaken you for someone else!"
The two realized they had messed up and quickly changed their story, saying they didn't know the Sultan.
"You two despicable human traffickers! My lifelong integrity has been ruined by you! And I was just cursing this young comrade, I really..."
The old man who had just spoken up for them got so angry that he kicked both of them. He thought Sultan was the kind of unfilial and wicked woman.
It turned out he was misled.
This is an utter disgrace.
"Kill them!"
Those who had been called out were all furious and vented their anger on the mother and son.
A group of people beat the two of them until they screamed in pain.
Bai Xiao, fearing they might kill someone, stopped them from causing the farce.
"Thank you, Comrade Bai Xiao."
Bai Xiao took Sudan back to her sleeper berth and comforted her.
Sudan became increasingly frightened as he thought about it, and couldn't help but shed tears.
When Bai Xiao saw Sudan crying, the man who had just been calmly dealing with the two human traffickers panicked instantly.
"You...you...you don't cry! I'll protect you! Don't worry, I'll stay here with you!"
Bai Xiao quickly took a handkerchief and wiped away Sudan's tears.
The Sultan, instead of being comforted, cried even harder.
"If it weren't for you, I... I don't know what I would have done..."
Sudan cried uncontrollably, and Bai Xiao carefully embraced her, letting her lean against him and cry to her heart's content.
"Cry...cry! Just cry it all out..."
Bai Xiao stayed with Sudan until she calmed down, and only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.
"I...I got your clothes all wet."
When Sudan came to her senses, she found that Bai Xiao's clothes were soaked with her tears.
Her face flushed red, she was at a loss for what to do.
"It's okay, as long as you're comfortable! I have other clothes, I'll go change in a bit!"
"But you, are you feeling better?"
Bai Xiao laughed, looking at Sudan, whose face was flushed.
The Sultan, recalling his embarrassing moment, was too ashamed to face anyone.
"I...I'm fine."
Sudan felt so embarrassed that she wanted to bury herself somewhere; she had just been crying so hard in Bai Xiao's arms...
How embarrassing.
"I'm...I'm sorry..."
"Why are you apologizing to me? It wasn't your fault!"
