Xia Lan took care of Du Wenqing in the hospital for a few days. The day after he came out of the emergency room, Du Juan and Zhang Qiu came. Du Wenqing asked Xia Lan to leave, and it is unknown what he said to Du Juan and Zhang Qiu inside.
Xia Lan only knew that Du Juan didn't show up again for the next few days...
Only Zhang Qiu would come to see Du Wenqing once a day, and then leave in a hurry.
Xia Lan glanced at Du Wenqing.
Du Wenqing was reading the newspaper when he noticed Xia Lan glancing at him furtively.
He sighed, put the newspaper down, and folded it neatly.
"Speak! What do you want to ask me?"
Du Wenqing looked at Xia Lan, signaling her to speak quickly if she had something to say.
"I don't have any questions?"
Xia Lan shook her head.
“I told her that the fact that she can still live in that house is already a result of my intervention. If she doesn’t appreciate it and keeps making trouble, then she should go and stay with her husband.”
Du Wenqing spoke up.
“I was being rather harsh. Whether she listened or not, things have already turned out this way, and I can’t help her anymore.”
After this incident, Du Wenqing no longer had any expectations of her.
She is his daughter, nothing more.
He wouldn't give her more, and she wouldn't get any more either.
If she behaves herself, he won't bother with her, and he'll naturally leave her a sum of money after he passes away.
But if she still doesn't behave, then she won't get a single word.
Xia Lan heard Du Wenqing's words and saw his indifferent expression.
"One sentence was all it took to make her never want to appear in front of you again."
Du Wenqing's lips curled into a smile.
"Finally, I can relax."
"I should have made things clear to her a long time ago. I'm so frustrated."
Du Wenqing recalled his previous frustrations; the pent-up anger in his chest had no outlet, and it was truly unbearable.
"Thank goodness, the sun is finally shining!"
Xia Lan chuckled softly.
"This is the first time I've ever seen someone who's happy even after a falling out with their children!"
"That depends on what kind of children they are. I'd rather not have those kinds of lousy kids. Their brains are full of shit and they can't think straight."
Du Wenqing looked disgusted. How could someone as intelligent as him have a daughter whose mind is filled with nothing but love and romance?
I just can't understand it.
Xia Lan shrugged; being love-struck is the same everywhere.
After three days in the hospital, Du Wenqing insisted on being discharged.
After examination, the doctors found no other problems, but the heart issue required medication.
"What medicine do you need? I'm perfectly fine!"
Du Wenqing looked resistant, feeling that his heart only felt better for a short while and that he was already fine now.
No need to take medicine anymore.
The doctor sighed as he looked at Du Wenqing, who refused to take his medicine.
What medicine should I take?
Just as the doctor was wondering what to do, Xia Lan returned with a clean lunchbox.
Du Wenqing paused, then quickly replied.
"It's nothing. The doctor said I can be discharged and just need to take two pills every day."
The doctor paused, raised an eyebrow at Du Wenqing, who hadn't been this cooperative just now.
Suddenly remembering something, the doctor glanced at Xia Lan and a smirk appeared on his lips.
"Comrade Xia Lan, let me tell you about Old Du's condition and the things he should pay attention to after being discharged from the hospital."
The doctor ignored Du Wenqing and spoke directly to Xia Lan.
Du Wenqing glared at the doctor secretly.
Xia Lan glanced at Du Wenqing and smiled at the doctor.
"You said it, I'll remember it."
"After being discharged from the hospital, he cannot stop taking the medication. His heart has already developed problems, and maintaining his condition with medication is the best approach now."
"But Old Du doesn't seem very cooperative..."
Upon hearing the doctor's words, Du Wenqing coughed heavily twice.
"Nonsense, when did I ever refuse to cooperate!"
Du Wenqing glared fiercely at the doctor.
This person actually filed a false accusation.
"Yes, he will cooperate."
Xia Lan nodded to the doctor.
The doctor turned around and smiled at Du Wenqing. Du Wenqing gritted his teeth inwardly, but could only obediently nod because of Xia Lan.
Du Wenqing was able to be discharged from the hospital, and Xia Lan helped him into the car to go home.
Back in Du Wenqing's courtyard, Xia Lan saw the figure standing there and was stunned.
"Brother Yu?"
Looking at Qin Yu's retreating figure, Xia Lan blinked, unsure of what to say.
"Um."
Hearing Xia Lan's voice, Qin Yu turned around and opened his arms to her.
Xia Lan glanced at Qin Yu, then helped Du Wenqing slowly walk to the courtyard and sit down.
"Why are you back so soon?"
Du Wenqing felt a pang of guilt when he saw Qin Yu.
Why didn't you tell me what was wrong?
Qin Yu's face darkened as he looked at Du Wenqing.
Why don't you go to the hospital if you're feeling unwell?
Qin Yu had already learned from the two of them about Du Wenqing's 'disobedience' during this period, and he originally intended to put aside his work and come back.
After hearing that Xia Lan had taken care of Du Wenqing, he made all the necessary arrangements before taking the train back.
"Alright, there's no point in pursuing this further. It's good that no one is hurt!"
Seeing Du Wenqing's guilty look in front of Qin Yu, Xia Lan spoke up for him.
Upon hearing Xia Lan's words, Du Wenqing looked up at Qin Yu. Seeing that he was no longer speaking, he gave Xia Lan a grateful smile.
"Brother Yu, have you arranged everything?"
Xia Lan poured Qin Yu a cup of tea, and Qin Yu nodded.
"I told you, wherever you are, I'll be there!"
As long as Xia Lan is in the capital, how can he stay there?
Everything is going smoothly now. He has delegated authority to his second brother and the others, and he only needs to grasp the overall direction.
