After telling Xia Lan some things to be careful about, Xia Lan and Sister-in-law Caihua looked at the old lady who was receiving an IV drip.
"Sister-in-law, this..."
“Since we’ve already saved her, let’s see it through to the end. Sister Caihua, you stay here and watch over her for a while, I’m going to her house to check on her.”
Xia Lan said to Sister-in-law Caihua.
"Should I go?"
Sister-in-law Caihua looked at Xia Lan, who shook her head.
"I'll go!"
Xia Lan patted Sister-in-law Caihua on the shoulder, then turned and left the ward.
Before leaving the hospital and returning to the old lady's house, Xia Lan carefully pushed open the door.
The old house had a distinct sense of history, but the old lady had decorated it warmly, as if it were filled with memories. Xia Lan looked around but didn't see anyone, and her heart skipped a beat with fear.
The old lady hasn't eaten all day, so what about her husband...?
Xia Lan quickened her pace, opening each room, but saw no one.
In the last room, Xia Lan pushed open the door and saw a bed, and it seemed that someone was on the bed.
Xia Lan slowly stepped forward and saw an old man lying on the bed, seemingly not breathing.
Xia Lan pursed her lips, mustered her courage, and reached out to the old man, though she could still feel a slight breeze.
There was still a breath.
With this realization, Xia Lan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at him like that, she thought he had already ascended to heaven!
It's kind of scary.
I reached out and touched the old man's face to make sure he was still warm.
Even though Xia Lan was so close, the old man didn't react at all.
"Old man?"
Xia Lan gently nudged him, and the old man seemed to be startled by her, slowly opening his eyes.
When the old man saw that it was not his wife but a stranger named Xia Lan, a look of worry flashed in his eyes.
