Chapter 72 Buying Land

Grandma Ye stood up: "It's getting late, everyone go about your business, I need to go make some spicy soup too."

He turned back to look at Ye Caiping and said, "Caiping, you should take a rest."

“Okay, I happen to have something to do and need to go out.” Ye Caiping wasn’t worried about Grandma Ye getting tired.

If one of the Ye brothers were to deliver goods, it wouldn't just be loading and unloading and accompanying the vehicle.

When she was at home, she would fetch water, pour water, cook soup, and help out, so she could manage on her own.

"Jinhua, let's go make some clothes!" Du Shi couldn't wait to see the fabric.

Ye Jinhua was also eager to try, and the mother and daughter rushed out in a flurry.

Ms. Wei was preoccupied, but the thought of the cloth roused her, and she pulled Yinhua along to follow behind Ms. Du and her daughter.

Everyone left the main room. Ye Caiping stood up, about to leave, but found Ye Jin'er sitting there motionless with a pale face.

"What's wrong?" Ye Caiping walked over. "Did you hurt your foot?"

Ye Jin'er lowered her head guiltily: "I didn't feel any pain when I went to the market in the morning, but after eating and sitting for a long time... it started to hurt a little."

"I told you not to go, but you insisted on going." Ye Caiping sighed softly, feeling a little sorry for her. "Let's go back to our room first."

Ye Caiping helped her up, and Ye Huan'er came over to help her up as well.

Back in the room, Ye Caiping had her take off her shoes and socks, and then unwrapped the ointment that Dr. Zhao had applied the day before. Ye Caiping couldn't help but gasp when she saw a large lump on her ankle.

She has one more transaction opportunity in the system, which she can use to buy some plasters.

But neither the material of the plaster nor the bottle were available in this era, and it was not convenient to take them out.

"Huan'er, go and invite Doctor Zhao over."

"Um."

Huan'er ran out quickly, and soon after, Doctor Zhao arrived.

After examining the ankle, which was swollen with a large lump, Dr. Zhao began to ramble on:

"Did you run around? Why can't this little girl stay still! It's nothing serious, it's just that the three-day rest period has turned into seven days. You're not allowed to run around anymore."

He then took out the ointment he had prepared earlier, applied it to the swelling, and wrapped it with layers of cloth.

"Change the dressing once a day. I'll come again tomorrow at noon."

"Okay, thank you, doctor."

Ye Caiping paid for the medicine, and then Dr. Zhao left.

Ye Jin'er looked dejected: "I'm sorry, Mother, I shouldn't have been so willful..."

Ye Caiping sat down next to her: "There's nothing to apologize for, it's alright."

It was a trivial matter, and there was no need to blame or scold him excessively.

It's in little girls' nature to want to go shopping and buy clothes. It's okay for them to be a little willful sometimes.

Ye Jin'er pouted and buried her head in Ye Caiping's arms.

Ye Caiping sighed and smiled, and could only stroke her hair.

After calming her daughter down, Ye Caiping began packing her things.

She took out the lake-blue cotton cloth she had picked out that morning. The cloth shop had already cut it into four pieces, each 10 feet long.

Ye Caiping put four pieces of cloth into the basket, then added forty eggs, covered it with a coarse cloth, and that was it.

Ye Huan'er sat to one side, resting her chin on her hand as she watched.

Ye Jin'er leaned back on the bed: "Where is Mother going?"

“Last time I went to Lijia Village to pick you up, it was all thanks to the help of your village head grandfather and your second maternal grandfather that things went so smoothly.”

"I've been so busy since then that I haven't had a chance to thank them. I remembered them today when I was buying fabric, so I'll go check on them. Let's go, Huan'er."

Ye Caiping went out with her basket, and Ye Huan'er skipped and hopped behind her.

Originally, Jin'er was also supposed to be taken along, but since her leg was injured, only Huan'er was taken with her.

We arrived at Uncle Ye's house.

Uncle Ye was smoking a hookah at the door, and Ye Caiping couldn't help but find it amusing to look at him like that.

Just like her father, they both love to sit by the door and smoke. No wonder they're brothers.

"Cai Ping is here." Uncle Ye put down his water pipe.

"Where are my second aunt and the children?" Ye Caiping asked as she walked in.

As soon as she finished speaking, Aunt Ye came out of the main room: "I'm here, come in and sit down."

Ye Caiping entered the house and took out a folded 10-foot piece of cloth: "Last time I was divorced, you came to Lijia Village to stand up for me. Later, when I woke up, you came with me to Lijia Village to pick up people. I haven't thanked you yet. I've been so busy lately that I only managed to find some time now."

As he spoke, he counted out ten more eggs and placed them on the table.

Uncle Ye waved his hand: "It's nothing. Relatives should help each other. If you have to thank us for this, we won't dare to help you again in the future."

Ye Caiping laughed and said, "It's not that I've become distant from you, it's just that I haven't been able to show my respect to you since I came back. This morning when I went to town to buy cloth, I bought an extra portion."

Having said that, Uncle Ye couldn't refuse, and said with a smile, "You're very kind."

Ye Caiping chatted with them for a few minutes, then left with Ye Huan'er.

Aunt Ye touched the cloth and was slightly surprised: "Old man, this is cotton cloth!" She had thought it was dyed coarse cloth.

Uncle Ye touched the cloth and smiled even more happily: "Weren't you worried about making clothes for Wuquan these past few days? This cloth will come in handy."

"Yes. This cotton fabric is very presentable! When we go to propose marriage in a few days, we'll have Wuquan wear it."

After leaving Uncle Ye's house, we arrived at Ye Zhuzi's house.

Zhu Zi's wife took the cloth and eggs, smiling so broadly her eyes disappeared.

Next were the Tie Niu family and the village head's family.

Upon arriving at Zhao Tieniu's house, Ye Caiping put down her things and then inquired about the teacher.

When Tie Niu's wife learned that she wanted to find a tutor for Ye Xuan, she was very impressed.

"I only have a vague understanding of studying, so why don't you just ask that kid who went into the mountains? By the way, he has a day off tomorrow, so I'll have him come to your house. You can ask him whatever you want."
