Chapter 261: Dodder Becomes a Popular Person (14)

Wen Yao's already expressionless face became even colder.

Without saying a word, he grabbed Banshu's wrist and pulled her out forcefully.

"Let her go."

Shang Ting glanced at him coldly, "Mr. Wen, it's better not to make such an awkward scene."

Wen Yao lowered his eyes to look at the girl beside him, but his whole body froze when he saw her misty almond eyes.

He almost powerlessly loosened his grip on her.

I moved my lips, but found that no sound came out.

Like a mute.

This sudden change made him feel like he was falling into an ice cellar and his whole body was cold.

"Don't cry, okay?" He looked a little confused. "Did I make you sad again?"

Shang Ting stood in front of the girl coldly, not even a trace of a smile on his lips. His thick eyebrows and eyes were full of cruelty and ruthlessness. "Are you fucking sick? What do you think of her? People like you should stay as far away from her as possible."

The farther away from her, the better... eh?

Wen Yao was not reconciled at all.

It was obvious that before Shang Ting appeared, the person the girl relied on the most was him.

He tried every possible means to get rid of that annoying Xie Chen, but...it was still not enough.

"Wen Yao. You weren't like this before." The girl looked at him with red eyes, "What's wrong with you?"

Wen Yao curled his lips without any emotion.

He disguised himself too well.

He thought.

So much so that she had this illusion——

He is a good man.

End of the year.

It snowed heavily.

The same year Xie Chen left.

The dry branches could not bear the weight of the snow and broke with a snap. The strong wind blew away the snow and covered the branches again.

Thanks to the mutated zombies supplying the booth for research, his stalled experiment finally made some progress.

Even the military district sent people down to check the experimental results.

Pan Shu was holding a hot water bottle, her furry head tucked into her fur hat, the lower half of her face tightly wrapped in a scarf, revealing only a pair of clear almond-shaped eyes with distinct black and white.

Fang Han sat next to her.

"Why is Professor Shang so busy today? Normally he would be out taking you to the cafeteria for lunch by this time."

A single snowflake landed on the girl's long eyelashes. She blinked slowly. "He told me yesterday that he seemed to be reporting to his superiors about...work or something."

"This winter is colder than in previous years. Many people will die again..." Fang Han sighed.

Banshu looked far away through the snow curtain and did not respond to Fang Han's words.

She tapped her knees absentmindedly with her fingertips.

"Northern Military Region... That person seems to be from the Northern Military Region..."

"What did you say?" Fang Han didn't hear what she was mumbling clearly. She frowned, "Oh, by the way, I heard that a zombie wave is coming. Ye Jun and his men are still building the wall!"

Fang Han stared at Ban Shu's beautiful and charming face with worry.

I had a bad feeling in my heart.

She shook her head and thought, forget it, she decided not to think about all these trivial things. Not to mention that Mr. Wen and Professor Shang treated Shushu like the apple of their eye, even the two of them felt distressed when Shushu frowned. What's more, even she would try her best to protect Shushu.

"Shushu."

A gentle and clear voice sounded.

Ban Shu held her hat with one hand and raised her eyes slowly. There was a trace of fatigue in the man's eyes. He opened his arms and raised his eyebrows at Pan Shu.

The girl was wearing a lot of clothes and bumped into the man's arms like a pink ball.

Shang Ting caught her with a smile.

He smiled politely and gently at Fang Han.

Fang Han waved his hand, jumped down the stairs and said jokingly, "Alright, alright, I won't bother you two anymore. Shushu has been waiting for you for a long time!"

After Fang Han walked away, Shang Ting released the girl from his arms, took her hand and squeezed it, "Come on, I'll take you to eat something delicious."

"I'm not going to eat."

Shang Ting was stunned. He asked softly, "What's wrong? Aren't you hungry?"

"You look so tired..." The girl said with a distressed look at his gorgeous features, "You still want to accompany me, Shang Ting? I don't like this at all."

Shang Ting sighed helplessly.

He pressed his big hand on her hat and rubbed it gently. "I never considered you a burden to me. Don't think about it."

Shang Ting suddenly stopped.

Pan Shu also noticed something. She raised her eyes and saw Wen Yao leaning against the peeling white wall with his neck drooping. He held a lit cigarette between his fingertips, and his brows were half-drooped.

He glanced at Banshu.

Without saying anything, he turned and left.

In fact, Wen Yao had thought of countless ways to imprison Pan Shu and leave him alone in her world.

But as soon as I thought of her bright eyes, there was only dead silence and coldness.

He gave up.

never mind.

As long as she is happy.

Shang Ting subconsciously observed Banshu's expression, but saw her blinking slowly.

He suddenly felt anxious.

No one knew better than him that everything he had now was the result of deception. He deceived the ignorant girl and instilled in her an education in the name of love.

Make her mistakenly think that she likes him.

But Shang Ting knew that she didn't like him.

Never liked it.

He was like a thief who was anxiously carrying a priceless treasure.

He was afraid that the treasure would be lost to him one day.

"Professor Shang? What is this...?"

A white-haired old man leaning on a cane met Shang Ting head-on. Behind the old man were a dozen students in white coats. More than a dozen pairs of curious and gossipy eyes fell on Pan Shu.

Shang Ting smiled and nodded, "Shushu, this is Professor Li, the master sent by the Northern Military Region to assist me with my experiments."

"Hello, Professor Li." The girl greeted him obediently.

She paused, then continued, "Is the professor from the Northern Military Region? Does the professor know someone named Xie Chen?"

"Thank you?"

Professor Li's expression changed.

Pan Shu saw his reaction and her heart sank slightly. What happened to Xie Chen...

"I remember now. I'm getting old and confused," Professor Li laughed. "Xie Chen was the little boy who was transferred to our Northern Military Region for treatment five years ago, right? He's doing fine! But... what's your relationship with that boy?"

Pan Shu forced a smile and said, "He is my brother."

At this time, Wen Yao put out the cigarette butt in his hand, walked over, glanced at Professor Li, and then looked at Pan Shu, "I have something to talk to you about."

"About Xie Chen." He added lightly.

The girl's originally sweet smile faded slightly.

Her beautiful face exudes a cold coolness.

Wen Yao chuckled softly.

It seems unsurprising.

Shang Ting vaguely realized that the man named Xie Chen was very important to Pan Shu.

So he just silently looked at the girl's back as she left with another man, his eyes gloomy.

Professor Li scratched his beard awkwardly. "Um... Professor Shang, I have something else to do, so I won't bother you anymore..."

There was no one around.

Ban Shu narrowed her eyes and asked, "What happened to Xie Chen?"

"Not pretending anymore?"
