Chapter 106 Going Home

Shen Zhiting slowly walked over. She had been watching from the sidelines for a while. Ever since Xie Xiaodong appeared, her second uncle had been chatting with Xie Xiaodong and had completely ignored Lin Wanxing.

When the maid saw Shen Zhiting approaching, she tactfully left.

Shen Zhiting leaned over and said gloatingly, "They used to play together a lot and were very good friends. I even met Xie Xiaodong when I was a kid. He's a really likable person. Lin Wanxing, you'd better keep an eye on my second uncle."

“Even your great-grandmother speaks highly of him, which shows how popular he is. My second uncle is also on good terms with him. You are just a new bride, while he has been friends for many years. So you have to be careful, or you'll regret it.”

Although Shen Zhiting's words were a bit harsh, they weren't unreasonable, and Lin Wanxing knew that she was reminding her.

"I trust my second brother. This kind of thing can't be avoided just by being careful. It's okay, I've always trusted my second brother."

Although Lin Wanxing didn't particularly like Xie Xiaodong, he was, after all, her second brother's good friend, and she couldn't very well stop the two of them from seeing each other.

He didn't have that much power himself, but Shen Zhiting's reminder made him feel a little uncomfortable.

The person even the old lady praised must be extraordinary.

Lin Wanxing sighed. He was a little unhappy today; he had never been so worried before.

Shen Zhiting found Lin Wanxing's expression quite interesting. She thought that even though Lin Wanxing was so shrewd, she was still bothered by trivial matters.

"Thank you for that matter, Shen Wen." Shen Zhiting's thanks were sincere; she knew Shen Wen must have gotten something out of Lin Wanxing to keep quiet.

Lin Wanxing didn't answer her but stared intently at the two people talking on the sofa. They were really leaving her there, ignoring her completely.

Lin Wanxing grew angrier the more she thought about it, her face scrunched up in a frown, clearly her unhappiness had turned into anger.

"Why are these two talking for so long?!"

Shen Zhiting smiled as she looked at the two people chatting. They hadn't seen each other for many years, so they must have a lot to talk about.

"Why don't you hurry up and go find your second uncle? Look, he was so eager to chat with him as soon as he appeared. And with your great-grandmother's recommendation, he's going to work for the company. You know, he's with your second uncle every day, and the two of them are always together. Who knows, maybe some unexpected sparks will fly between them?"

Shen Zhiting didn't just want to remind Lin Wanxing; she was mainly just looking for a good show and didn't mind making things worse.

It's not entirely uninteresting that Lin Wanxing is so worried.

Lin Wanxing looked up and glared at her, then hurriedly walked over.

He strode over angrily, his eyes wide with fury, and shouted at Shen Huai'an, "Second Brother, I want to go home!"

Shen Huai'an was still chatting earnestly with Xie Xiaodong when he heard Lin Wanxing's voice and immediately looked up. "Not playing anymore?"

Lin Wanxing frowned: "I'm tired of playing. I want to go home now."

His thoughts were already written all over his face. Shen Huai'an grabbed Lin Wanxing and slowly stood up. "Xiao Dong, I'll go home first. Let's talk another day."

Seeing him stand up, Xie Xiaodong immediately stood up as well. He reached out to help Shen Huai'an, but Lin Wanxing stopped him first, saying, "I'll help Second Brother."

Seeing how worried Xingxing was about him, Shen Huai'an couldn't help but smile. "Let's go home now."

Xie Xiaodong stood there watching their departing figures, realizing that many things had changed.

The old lady knelt in Ci'an Hall chanting Buddhist scriptures. She held prayer beads in her hands and kept muttering to herself. The Buddha statue in front of her shone with golden light under the candlelight.

The Ci'an Hall was filled with the fragrance of incense and a faint scent of sandalwood.

The old housekeeper slowly walked over, and the old lady, kneeling on the prayer mat, slowly opened her eyes.

"The second brother and the others left?"

The old butler bowed slightly and replied, "The second young master has already left."

"He didn't chat with Xiao Dong for a little longer?" the old lady asked, somewhat surprised.

"After exchanging a few words, the young master of the Lin family told him to go home, so the second young master left."

The old lady frowned and turned around. She raised her arm and the old housekeeper quickly stepped forward to help her up. The old lady looked puzzled: "The second son actually listened to that fool and obediently went home."

"People say that fools are lucky, and this fool from the Lin family is really lucky. Even someone like the second son listens to him. So the rumors outside may not be true."

"The most important thing between husband and wife is trust. Xiao Dong is a clever kid, and the second son has a deep relationship with him. We'll just have to wait and see."

"Someone has to stop the second son."

The old lady had lived in this house her whole life, and she couldn't see through anyone. Although Xie Xiaodong was a well-behaved and lovable child, he was also quite cunning. Placing him next to the second son would keep him busy enough.

The old lady looked at the Buddha statue and said earnestly, "No matter who becomes the head of the family in the future, I will always be a respected old lady. Actually, I don't need to worry about these things, but I really don't want the second son to take over the family business."

The old butler never understood why the old lady didn't want the second young master to become the head of the family. He said, "With the second young master's abilities, he is the most suitable candidate."

"Ability?" The old lady smiled. "The second son may be capable, but he's heartless."

“He’s used to wearing a mask of hypocrisy, so it’s not his true self. I’m just afraid that if he becomes the head of the family in the future, it will be difficult for the eldest and third branches of the family. Not only that, what will happen to my family?”

“I’m an old man, I won’t live much longer, but what about the people under me? Don’t be fooled by the fact that the second brother seems kind and generous on the surface, he’s ruthless at heart. Everyone knows how he injured his leg.”

"Once you step out of this door, everyone will know that the Shen family is embroiled in internal strife."

"It's perfect that Xiaodong came to my birthday party today. He's such a filial son, he's so thoughtful and he still cares about me, his grandma. How could I not help him?"

The old lady really likes Xie Xiaodong. Having such a person by her son's side makes her feel much more at ease.

Previously, Xiao Dong was a child who knew how to be grateful; he would appreciate the kindness shown to him.

The Shen Group wasn't so easy to get into; staying by Shen Huai'an's side was just a matter of her saying a word.

The old butler hadn't expected there to be so many twists and turns. He said, "Madam, you've thought of everything so thoroughly."

The old lady walked out of Ci'an Hall step by step. Looking at the flowers in the courtyard, she sighed that so many years had passed in the blink of an eye. Her second son's legs had recovered so well. At first, she thought he would never be able to stand up and would have to spend his days in a wheelchair.

Unexpectedly, the second son not only stood up, but everything was also developing in a positive direction. As for Shim Tae-min, he really was a hopeless case.

I had truly wasted my efforts, and in the end, the second brother still managed to find an opportunity to return to the group.
