Shen Taimin then realized that all of this was a charade staged by Xie Xiaodong and the second brother.
It was all to lower his guard. That Xie Xiaodong really knows how to pretend; he's a perfect actor.
They fooled both themselves and the old lady, making them believe that Xie Xiaodong was on their side.
He kept saying he wanted to cooperate with me and even sincerely helped me steal the second brother's secret documents. I actually believed him at the time. Who would have thought that he was actually someone the second brother had deliberately placed by my side?
He excitedly took the fake document to the ancestral hall, only to fall into their trap.
I blame myself for being so stupid to believe Xie Xiaodong and the old lady.
"Brother, now you understand the friendship between Xiaodong and me, right? We are such good friends. Just as you said, how could I let him betray me for a mere vice president position? If it weren't for Xiaodong, I probably wouldn't be able to stand in front of you as the victor today."
"Xiao Dong is my best friend. He has never had any ulterior motives towards me. If it weren't for his cooperation from the inside, I wouldn't have been able to beat you so easily."
No matter how much Shim Tae-min struggled, he couldn't escape once he was pinned down.
He felt like a joke, that he had been completely fooled by someone like Xie Xiaodong.
He accepted being tricked by the second brother, after all, the second brother was his long-time nemesis whom he had never known before. But he was still upset that he had been defeated by Xie Xiaodong.
He had lost everything. He couldn't even go back to the Shen family. His wife and daughters had chosen to distance themselves from him, and the old lady had given up on him.
He couldn't stay in Jiangcheng any longer. His complete defeat was all because of Xie Xiaodong. He deliberately sent over that fake document, and both the old lady and he were deceived by him.
Xie Xiaodong, Shen Taimin now feels an urge to kill this traitor with his own hands whenever he thinks of those three words.
He gritted his teeth, his eyes blazing with fury.
Shen Huai'an wanted to laugh when he saw him like this. This was exactly the result he wanted. As long as he said something to Shen Taimin to provoke him, his hatred would be directed at Xie Xiaodong.
Shen Taimin is a master at shifting blame. He never reflects on his own reasons, but instead attributes his current predicament entirely to Xie Xiaodong's betrayal.
He knew his older brother's personality all too well.
With his hands on his cane, Shen Huai'an said in a sarcastic tone, "Big brother, it's all thanks to you. Xiao Dong is awake now. Once he's a little better, he'll go to the police station to report you for faking a car accident and hiring someone to kill him. Xiao Dong has evidence against you. Big brother, look at yourself now. You'll be spending the rest of your life in jail soon."
Shen Taimin's eyes widened, filled with anger. That Xie Xiaodong really knew how to bite back, actually thinking of exposing him. Shen Taimin truly regretted not having someone kill that bastard directly.
Shen Huai'an continued calmly, "Xiao Dong will still be the group's vice president. Some feelings you can't buy. Don't you think about how many years of friendship we've had? Xiao Dong only came back to help him. You really underestimate the friendship between Xiao Dong and me."
Friendship, how ridiculous! Shen Huai'an and Xie Xiaodong probably don't even know what friendship is after all these years.
But these words sounded extremely harsh to Shen Taimin. Xie Xiaodong really was a loyal and devoted friend of Shen Huai'an.
Even sacrificing himself to save Shen Huai'an, Shen Taimin thought of how his second brother had collapsed and was in unbearable pain in the hospital because of Xie Xiaodong's accident, and a terrible idea came to his mind.
If that bastard dies, no one will expose me, and I can continue to live a good life. As long as I'm alive, I can always rebuild.
As long as he is safe, he has a chance to take back everything he has lost.
The second brother cares so much about that bastard, their relationship is so deep, if Xie Xiaodong dies, the second brother will never have a good life.
He knew what kind of person the second brother was; he always invested genuine feelings in those he valued.
Xie Xiaodong is dead, and the second son will be consumed by guilt; he will suffer forever.
If he's not feeling well, he shouldn't expect to have a good time either.
At worst, he could flee Jiangcheng, leave this place, or find another country. In any case, he would never let Shen Huai have an easy time.
