"Young master, are you inside?"
The maid knocked on the door from outside, which startled Lin Wanxing so much that he quickly put the cookies back in their place. He clapped his hands and hurried to open the door.
The maid came in and brought Lin Wanxing a glass of hot milk.
There seemed to be something off about the butler; his gaze always made Lin Wanxing feel uneasy, something just felt off.
"Young Master Lin, are you hungry?" the maid asked Lin Wanxing considerately.
Lin Wanxing held the milk, thought about it seriously, and then nodded.
"It will be mealtime soon. Do you have any dietary restrictions?"
Lin Wanxing thought for a moment, and it seemed that he didn't have any dietary restrictions.
He shook his head, indicating that he had no dietary restrictions.
Li Jiyan smiled and said respectfully, "Then please wait a moment, Young Master Lin. I will immediately instruct the kitchen, and I believe we will be able to eat soon."
"I want to eat a small cake, I want to eat cake, do you have any cake?"
A hint of impatience flashed across Li Jiyan's eyes, but he concealed it well, making it almost impossible for anyone to detect his emotions.
But Lin Wanxing quickly noticed the impatience in his eyes. He had seen this look many times in the Chen family. His aunt and sister often showed this impatience when facing him.
The maid looked at him with the exact same gaze as his aunt, but he was better at hiding it.
Sure enough, the maid's answer the next second confirmed Lin Wanxing's thoughts.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Lin, it's mealtime, and the kitchen doesn't prepare cakes."
It wasn't that Li Jiyan wasn't prepared, but rather that he didn't need to waste his time on a fool.
He also heard what Shen Er said and knew that Shen Er had brought back this fool out of desperation.
