Chapter 1 Open and aboveboard infidelity

A sudden cold snap in spring froze most of the apricot blossoms to death.

Mingdai's marriage, which was already on its last legs, also came to a complete end.

Mo Tingchuan sat opposite her, impeccably dressed, with an arrogant expression, speaking as if he were issuing a perfectly ordinary notice.

“Weiwei is very well-behaved and won’t threaten your position. After the baby in her belly is born, she will be adopted by you. I know you are weak and not suitable for pregnancy, so you might as well not suffer this hardship.”

As Mingdai's husband, Mo Tingchuan has not been home for two months.

Their union stemmed from an ordinary business gala, and by sheer coincidence, Mingdai fell in love at first sight.

When Mingdai married into the Mo family, the Mo family was in dire straits, and the only company they relied on for survival was on the verge of bankruptcy.

To save the Mo family from dire straits, the Ming family signed a betting agreement and worked tirelessly until today. The Mo family has finally turned its fortunes around and expanded its scale several times over.

The Ming family originally thought that couples who have gone through hardships together are even more precious, but they forgot the ancient saying of their ancestors: "It is easy to share hardship, but difficult to share wealth."

Now that Mo Tingchuan is riding high and enjoying a prestigious position, he can no longer tolerate the immense kindness shown to him by the Ming family.

He disliked Mingdai to begin with, and now he finds it utterly annoying to even glance at her.

If it weren't for the inseparable interests of the two families, he really wouldn't want to continue feigning friendship with Ming Dai.

An oppressive atmosphere permeated the living room.

Mingdai had been suffering from a cold for half a month, and this morning she developed a high fever. She originally planned to go to the hospital, but was stopped by Mo Tingchuan, who suddenly returned home.

Mingdai opened her dry eyes and coldly sized up Mo Tingchuan, who was dressed in a suit and tie, opposite her.

This man was born with a handsome appearance, and was refined and gentle, but upon seeing him today, I only felt that he was hypocritical and ugly.

"So the real reason you haven't slept together for the past three years of our marriage isn't because you're worried about my health, but because you've been having an affair with another woman, right?"

She felt guilty and remorseful, thinking that she was the one who had wronged him.

But it turns out that he already had a beautiful woman in his arms, and now they're even going to have a child together.

"Isn't it a fact that you're in poor health? When you married into the Ming family, they gave you countless warnings, as if you were some fragile piece of glass. Do you think I would dare to touch you?"

When this matter was brought up, Mo Tingchuan was even more self-righteous.

“Mingdai, don’t say I’m sorry to you. Think about it carefully. In the three years of our marriage, you haven’t even been able to fulfill the most basic obligations of a wife. Don’t you feel ashamed?”

Mingdai silently curled her cold fingers. Her health was not good, but it was not so bad that she couldn't even have sex with her husband.

Mo Tingchuan was simply trying to use this to morally blackmail her.

"If you don't like me, just say so. Why beat around the bush?"

Mingdai scoffed.

"So what do you mean now? You want me to pretend nothing happened and treat your child with your mistress as my own?"

The story of the farmer and the snake never expected to happen to her.

Although not long after the marriage she discovered that Mo Tingchuan did not like her as much as he seemed to.

But she thought that no matter what, they would spend their whole lives together, and that in time, he would eventually open his heart to her.

Now his heart is open, but it's open to other women.

"She's not a mistress!"

Mo Tingchuan denied it with great dissatisfaction, and looked Mingdai up and down with a sullen face.

Looking at Mingdai's listless and frail appearance, he felt an indescribable disgust.

"To be honest, you can't compare to Weiwei in any way. She's understanding and considerate. She's devoted to me and understands my difficulties. But what about you? You're not even willing to go into the kitchen to make me a soup. And you're supposed to be my wife."

Mingdai's eyelids twitched, and her face turned deathly pale.

Mo Tingchuan became even more outrageous.

"You can't compare to a woman as good as her even with one finger."

Mingdai's eyes went black, she laughed in anger, and couldn't help but retaliate.

"Of course, I really can't compare to a good woman like her who knows how to be a mistress and accepts it."

She clenched her fists.

"Since she's so wonderful, let's get a divorce and you can marry her."

I thought about it.

“However, our marriage involves a lot of interests, and it will take some time to sort things out. But that’s okay. I will find a lawyer as soon as possible, and I will leave the rest to the lawyer.”

She didn't want to see Mo Tingchuan again.

She never imagined that this marriage would end this way.

Mingdai felt suffocated and got up to leave.

"Do you think you can just get a divorce whenever you want? Weiwei promised to give you a child, what more could you want?"

Mingdai, who had just stood up, was pushed back down by Mo Tingchuan.

I wasn't feeling well when I was pushed, and the noise was so loud that my head started buzzing.

Mingdai took several deep breaths to barely suppress the gastrointestinal discomfort caused by the dizziness.

When she looked up, her almond-shaped eyes were filled with anger.

"Mo Tingchuan, you cheated on me first, and I can't pretend nothing happened. If you want to keep the red flag flying at home while having colorful flags flying outside, then your pipe dream is destined to fail."

"I only want Weiwei, and I won't let anyone else know she exists. To the outside world, you will always be my wife, Mo Tingchuan's wife. From now on, you just need to focus on raising the child and enjoying life. You should be content!"

Mo Tingchuan privately believed that Mingdai had feelings for him and was reluctant to give up their three-year marriage.

More importantly, the interests of the Ming and Mo families are intertwined, and it is not as simple as a matter of breaking up if either side wants to withdraw.

Furthermore, Dai has always been intelligent and would never do something so harmful to others and herself.

Mingdai was speechless.
