Mingdai shook her head.
She doesn't drink.
“You can’t drink it,” He Yaonian said.
He seemed to have just remembered.
After thinking for a moment, I asked, "What would you like to drink?"
Mingdai shook her head, "I won't drink anything."
"Didn't you go downstairs to get a drink of water?"
He Yaonian downed the obviously strong liquor in his glass in one gulp, his sharp gaze fixed on Mingdai.
"You knew I was in the living room?"
Mingdai was startled. "I don't know."
He Yaonian moved closer to her, and Mingdai involuntarily stepped back.
"Third Uncle, I...I really don't know..."
Do you know what time it is?
He Yaonian stopped moving and just stared at Mingdai from a distance.
The smell of alcohol assaulted Mingdai's nostrils; it was dangerous, menacing, restrained, and offensive.
Mingdai read something in He Yaonian's eyes that made her very uneasy.
"Know."
Mingdai avoided He Yaonian's gaze.
"I was a little thirsty, I didn't expect you to still be awake."
She said this and jumped up, wanting to run to the kitchen.
"Mingdai".
He Yaonian grabbed Mingdai's hand.
The first time I lost control and became reckless.
Mingdai's mind went blank for a second, like a firecracker exploding.
She reacted quickly and forcefully pulled her hand back.
"Third Uncle, would you like some water too?"
Damn it, my heart is beating so fast! She's sweating.
This is walking on ice floes; this is a shameless act that violates human ethics and has no moral bottom line.
Mingdai would never allow herself to be in such a dangerous situation.
"I'll go pour it for you."
Mingdai ran away, rushing into the kitchen like the wind.
She drank two glasses of ice water in one go until her throat and lungs felt completely cold.
She peeked outside furtively; the living room lights were still on, but the sofa blocked her view, so she didn't know how He Yaonian would react.
Who cares about their reaction?
Mingdai poured out the ice water and took it out.
He Yaonian had already sat down again, and half a cup of wine had been added to his glass.
"Third Uncle, here's some water."
Mingdai didn't get too close, and nimbly put down the water like a rabbit.
"I'm not fully awake yet, I'm going upstairs first."
She pretended to be sleepy and rubbed her head, then went upstairs without waiting for He Yaonian's consent.
Once back in the room, he slumped onto the bed.
The soft mattress shook her limp body up and down.
The hand that He Yaonian had gripped felt stiff and paralyzed, as if it had been broken.
Mingdai let out a few incoherent cries, then turned over and pulled a pillow over her face.
I then slept well, didn't dream, and almost missed my train.
Rushing to the company, Mingdai clocked in at the last second and walked into the secretariat with a heavy heart.
Someone, seeing her arrive late, made a sarcastic remark, neither too harsh nor too mild.
"If you can't get up, then don't come. It's just a matter of a word."
Mingdai didn't bother to argue, smiled and greeted her other colleagues, then rubbed her face to start her busy day.
The assistant general manager assigned quite a lot of work; this morning, he even took Mingdai to meet two clients.
Mingdai will have to get used to the ups and downs of negotiations in the future, and the assistant is the best teacher at this stage.
Mingdai had lunch with clients and drank a few glasses of wine with them; she was in good spirits.
I realized I haven't been taking my medicine much lately. Although my body hasn't given me any bad signals, based on my years of experience, I'm afraid of the calm before the storm.
I went to the hospital as soon as I got off work in the afternoon.
The traditional Chinese medicine doctor took her pulse and then conducted a thorough examination, including observation, listening, questioning, and palpation, before severely criticizing her for drinking alcohol.
Mingdai wanted to ask about the erotic dreams she had had these past two days, but in the end she was too embarrassed to ask.
I went to see a Western doctor again.
They were all old acquaintances, so Mingdai couldn't bring herself to ask.
Fortunately, there are no major health problems.
Carrying bags of medicine, Lin Yang called as she planned to return to her apartment for a few days.
"Mo Tingchuan has returned to China."
Upon hearing this, Mingdai thought, "They probably won't find out about the house being sold anytime soon, will they?"
"Let's see how long Mo Qingying can keep this a secret."
"Anyway, it has nothing to do with us."
Mingdai laughed heartlessly, "It was all arranged by his sister."
Lin Yang laughed heartily and told Ming Dai.
"The three million will be in your account in a couple of days. Mo Tingchuan has no doubt about the source; it's a legitimate business."
"Let's split it in half. You've helped me a lot this time."
"No need. Liu Mei owes me a lot, and I'll get the rest back from her."
As Lin Yang spoke, he remembered something else.
"Did Liu Mei tell you that her jewelry exhibition is on Tuesday night?"
"It probably won't be in time. She'll definitely make me go. She still wants to take advantage of me."
"I've already taken care of everything that I'm responsible for arranging. As for the rest, Mr. He will handle it."
Other?
Lin Yang said, "Liu Mei has been entrenched for so many years, and her strength should not be underestimated. Only Mr. He's intervention can ensure that nothing goes wrong; otherwise, we will all be in deep danger."
Mingdai glanced at the medicines piled up in the passenger seat, thought for a moment, and then turned around and headed towards the He family villa.
She didn't care about Liu Mei's evil deeds; she just wanted to get back the five million that Mo Qingying had given away.
It's all her money, it should rightfully go back into her pocket.
I wanted to talk to He Yaonian about Liu Mei, but he didn't come back that night.
The next morning, Mingdai drank a full bowl of medicine before going to work, and it was so bitter that she frowned.
The housekeeper handed her a piece of candied fruit.
"Good medicine tastes bitter, Miss Ming will surely recover soon."
Mingdai went to the company with the housekeeper's best wishes.
I had barely sat down at my desk when Qin Weiwei called.
Mingdai guessed what had happened.
Qin Weiwei spoke in a very low voice.
