The atmosphere fell silent.
After He Yaonian finished washing the dishes, he looked at Mingdai.
"How did Mo Tingchuan trick you into going to that place?"
Mingdai's eyes darkened.
How far can the evil of human nature go?
She believed she had done enough for Qin Weiwei.
Even though the two seemed to be rivals in love on the surface, she never regarded Qin Weiwei as an enemy.
I believe Qin Weiwei is well aware of this as well.
She thought of the glass of water that Qin Weiwei had personally handed her.
Mingdai gave a bitter smile.
"After get off work in the afternoon, Qin Weiwei called and said she had a stomachache."
Mingdai was already quite vigilant.
She also asked Qin Weiwei to find Mo Yumei.
But she was too kind-hearted. Fearing something might happen to Qin Weiwei's child, she sped all the way to Qin Weiwei's house.
"She gave me something to drink."
Mingdai followed He Yaonian back to the bedroom.
She sat on the edge of the bed, her head drooping.
The devastating impact Qin Weiwei had on her made her feel, for a short period of time, that everyone in the world was terrifying.
"But the dosage might not have been very high. I don't know if she deliberately didn't give enough, or if it was just her... Anyway, I woke up halfway through."
Thankfully, I woke up.
Otherwise, Mingdai would have wanted to die by now.
She couldn't accept how Mo Tingchuan treated her.
They could not accept that Mo Tingchuan had succeeded.
"I thought Qin Weiwei wouldn't go so far as to harm me."
Mingdai couldn't help but bite her lip, feeling both physically and mentally tormented.
With tears welling up in her eyes, she asked He Yaonian, "Why?"
Why did she do this to me?
Even though Mingdai knew very well that Qin Weiwei was trying to please Mo Tingchuan, and perhaps Mo Tingchuan was threatening Qin Weiwei again, leaving Qin Weiwei with no choice.
But even if there's no other way, we can't sacrifice her.
"As soon as she said her stomach hurt, I rushed to her house, but she treated me like this."
Mingdai was truly devastated.
"She could have avoided it, she could have had other choices, she could have..."
But Qin Weiwei still chose to hurt her.
So what exactly was the friendliness and concern she showed towards Qin Weiwei?
He Yaonian didn't say anything, but stepped forward and pulled the distraught Mingdai into his arms.
Mingdai bit her lip and sobbed uncontrollably.
“I thought she was different from Mo Tingchuan. I sympathized with her and understood her. I thought…”
Mingdai buried her face in He Yaonian's arms, her hot tears soaking through his pajamas.
He Yaonian stroked Mingdai's hair gently, again and again.
He knew that Mingdai didn't need him to preach to her right now.
Mingdai knew very well why Qin Weiwei chose to hurt her.
Mingdai simply couldn't accept it.
But it's good to vent.
After venting her anger, Qin Weiwei will disappear from Mingdai's world forever.
The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight streamed into the bedroom, Mingdai opened her eyes.
Her eyes were sore and stuck together, and she tried to open them again and again before she could open them completely.
Mingdai lay still.
She stared lazily at the few rays of light filtering through the heavy curtains; she was alone in the bedroom.
Perhaps because she had cried for too long last night, Mingdai was unusually calm at this moment.
She got out of bed and forcefully pulled open the curtains.
Sunlight streamed in, showering Mingdai's face.
Mingdai closed her eyes and enjoyed the warm sunshine.
She stood there for a while, letting yesterday's nightmare completely disappear in the sunlight, before leaving the bedroom refreshed.
There was no one in the living room.
There was some noise coming from the kitchen.
Mingdai raised her voice.
"Third Uncle."
He Yaonian's voice was muffled by the kitchen door, tinged with amusement.
"woke up?"
Mingdai walked over and stuck her head into the doorway.
Are you making breakfast?
He Yaonian was wearing a black shirt, and his wok-flipping movements looked very skilled.
"It'll be ready soon."
He glanced at Mingdai briefly.
Mingdai was still wearing her pajamas, her face bare, her eyes swollen like walnuts, yet she was all smiles, carefree and oblivious.
He Yaonian felt sorry for her, but he didn't show it on his face.
"Go wash up, breakfast is coming soon."
"good."
Mingdai nodded vigorously, her voice loud and clear.
They also made demands.
"I want to drink milk, hot."
He Yaonian smiled.
"Okay, I'll arrange it for you."
"Thank you, Third Uncle."
Mingdai turned and went back to her room, her steps light and quick.
He Yaonian stared at her back for a while before turning back to continue stirring the wok.
Breakfast is a fusion of Chinese and Western options, including sandwiches, steamed buns and fried dough sticks, milk and soy milk.
"Did you make the steamed buns too?"
Mingdai picked up a steamed bun that looked delicious.
I put it in my mouth and tasted it.
Wow! It's delicious.
After washing up, Mingdai put on light makeup.
He Yaonian found a complete set of unopened skincare and makeup products, a wide variety, along with many different styles of clothing for the season.
Mingdai tried them on, and they were all her size.
He Yaonian's thoughtfulness was always shown through his actions, and he rarely spoke of it.
"I ordered it."
He Yaonian watched Mingdai eat happily.
"Then we'll order some more tomorrow."
Mingdai's mouth was full of steamed buns, and she shook her head to indicate that she didn't need any.
The He family's breakfast was already delicious enough.
He Yaonian pushed the hot milk she wanted to her side.
I also poured her a cup of hot soy milk.
"Eat slowly, be careful not to choke."
Mingdai nodded and swallowed the bun.
"Thank you, Third Uncle."
