“I called, but Fang Li answered.”
Mingdai wanted to pull her hand back.
He Yaonian was stunned for a moment, then felt guilty instantly.
"I'm sorry I didn't receive it, and Fang Li didn't tell me either."
Hearing him say that, Mingdai felt that she had made a mountain out of a molehill.
"She probably forgot."
She smiled to herself, trying to reassure herself, "It's nothing, I just wanted to ask how my second uncle is doing."
He Yaonian, however, was very serious about explaining it clearly.
“The day Fang Li came, I happened to be outside and my phone was on the coffee table in the living room. There was no one else in the living room at the time, so I guess that’s when Fang Li answered the phone.”
He Yaonian frowned. "She deleted the call logs; I didn't see them."
His explanation immediately dispelled Mingdai's wild thoughts.
She had assumed that Fang Li and He Yaonian had some private time together, since a cell phone is a personal item, and especially someone of He Yaonian's status would not easily let his phone fall into the hands of others.
He Yaonian pulled Mingdai out the door.
"Let's get in the car first, and talk as we go."
Mingdai then remembered that she should tell the assistant.
“I came with the assistant general manager, I need to let him know.”
"Make a phone call in the car."
He Yaonian drives a four-seater sports car in a low-key yet luxurious dark purple.
He shoved Mingdai into the passenger seat.
After getting into the car, He Yaonian stared at her face for a few more seconds.
I should have called you sooner.
When they separated, they were still in a cold war.
Of course, it was a one-sided cold war by He Yaonian.
Mingdai asked, "How did you know I was on a business trip?"
He Yaonian started the car.
"miss you."
Mingdai's pupils contracted.
