Mingdai suddenly became mute.
She needed to be certain about something she had never dared to be certain about before.
But she didn't want to give He Yaonian time to prepare.
"Mingdai?"
When Mingdai fell silent, He Yaonian realized something was wrong.
Where are you? I'll come pick you up.
Mingdai took a deep breath. "I'm going back to the villa later. When are you coming back?"
"At most half an hour."
At that moment, He Yaonian's assistant said on the other end of the line, "Chairman, it's almost time. We need to leave."
The sound was somewhat distant, but Mingdai still heard it.
"Do you have social engagements?"
Mingdai didn't want to disrupt He Yaonian's work plans because of some personal matters.

Mingdai hung up the phone immediately.
He Yaonian called again.

Mingdai was helpless.
After giving the address, he stood there and waited for He Yaonian.
He Yaonian arrived in less than twenty minutes.
He told Mingdai, "I've already declined several social engagements, and I can't decline any more."
Mingdai was quite embarrassed, "I..."
"Come with me."
He Yaonian reached out and grasped Mingdai's hand.
With the driver and assistant both present, Mingdai was so frightened that she hurriedly tried to shrink back.
He Yaonian gripped it tightly for a moment and then let go.
Mingdai's heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of her throat.
She blushed and glared at He Yaonian.
He Yaonian said casually, "It won't be too late. There's a lounge over there. Wait for me there."
The conversations at the social gatherings were still about work, and some of them involved private matters, so it wasn't appropriate for Mingdai to be present.
Mingdai calmed herself down.
"I'll go back to the villa first. Pull me over and put me down."
