Mingdai didn't really want to go back to the He family villa.
For no apparent reason, he instinctively wanted to escape He Yaonian.
"Let's just forget about it. Anyway, Mo Tingchuan won't bother me anytime soon, and I'll have some peace and quiet here."
He Xingqiong wouldn't listen to Mingdai's polite refusal at all.
"Is the He family not peaceful? Or has the He family done something to upset you?"
This is truly an undeserved disaster.
Mingdai quickly denied it, "That's not true, don't talk nonsense."
She patiently explained, "I feel really bad for my third uncle, so I'll embarrass him. I'll stay here instead."
"Didn't you go to see your third uncle before? Didn't you explain it to him?"
Mingdai was impressed by He Xingqiong's persistent questioning.
She went to the refrigerator to take out the medicinal diet she had put in earlier to check it, and her mother kept reminding her to remember to drink it.
The aroma of herbs mingled with the fragrance of meat, spreading through the air and making people feel refreshed.
Mingdai was used to the smell and had long since adapted to it.
But He Xingqiong felt a little uncomfortable. She craned her neck to take a look and asked, "What is this?"
"Medicinal cuisine".
After thinking for a moment, Mingdai explained, "It's for recuperating."
"oh."
He Xingqiong didn't press for where the thing came from, and the topic returned to what it was before.
She guessed that Mingdai hadn't explained things clearly to her third uncle, which was why she didn't want to go back.
“This isn’t your fault. Besides, misunderstandings need to be cleared up as soon as possible. Come back with me now, and I’ll talk to Uncle San.”
He Xingqiong put the lid on the medicinal food and held it in one hand, while pulling Mingdai with the other.
"Come on, I'm worried about you staying here alone because of your health. We didn't know each other before, but now you have the whole He family backing you up, so don't refuse anymore, let's go."
Mingdai couldn't persuade He Xingqiong otherwise.
Besides, we've already gone this far, it would be too pretentious to refuse now.
The two rode in He Xingqiong's car back to the He family villa.
Thinking no one was in the living room, I entered and saw He Yaonian sitting on the sofa reading a book.
The main lights in the living room were off, but the small lights around the coffee table provided a warm and bright glow.
He Yaonian was still wearing the same suit he had worn during the day, except he wasn't wearing the jacket; his gold-threaded black silk shirt was incredibly expensive.
"Third Uncle."
He Xingqiong immediately became ladylike and quiet, and obediently walked up to He Yaonian.
To seek justice for Mingdai.
"Don't blame Mingdai. She was also knocked unconscious and taken away by Mo Tingchuan. Look at Mo Qingying, she committed suicide today out of fear of punishment. She's a typical case of threatening suicide. Mingdai is also helpless. It's difficult for her no matter what she does."
Ming Dai, standing behind He Xingqiong, kept her head down and remained silent.
She wondered if He Yaonian would think she was making a fuss. Regardless of whether it was difficult for her, the fact remained that she had lied to him.
"Third Uncle, Mingdai was quite frightened today. Mo Tingchuan was about to hit her. If Mingdai hadn't reacted quickly and grabbed an ashtray to smash it, I bet Mingdai would be the one lying in the hospital right now."
He Xingqiong would say anything to protect Mingdai.
Anyway, Mo Tingchuan isn't a good person, so what's the difference between spreading rumors about him and what he actually does?
Although Mingdai, with her head down, supported He Xingqiong's statement, she was also afraid that He Yaonian would not believe her, and that the two of them might get a severe scolding from He Yaonian.
Mingdai silently tugged at He Xingqiong.
Stop talking.
He Yaonian took a long time to turn a page on the sofa.
His gaze was fixed on the pages of the book. The overhead light made it impossible to see his exact expression. His silk shirt was luxurious and elegant, so much so that even a glance at him felt offensive.
He Yaonian looked up, his gaze fixed on Mingdai.
"He hit you?"
The gaze fell on Mingdai, heavy and unsettling.
He shook his head, coming to his senses.
"No, no."
"Of course you have. What can't you say in front of your third uncle?"
He Xingqiong really wanted to knock Ming Dai's head. If she didn't exaggerate the facts to soften Uncle's heart at this time, when would she ever get the chance?
"My third uncle told me everything; it was Mo Tingchuan who was going to hit me..."
"I'm asking her."
He Yaonian interrupted He Xingqiong, "Let her speak for herself."
He Xingqiong immediately winked at Mingdai.
Mingdai was so moved that she had no way to repay him, so she could only nod in agreement.
"Yes, he does have that tendency."
Mo Tingchuan knocking her unconscious was also a form of beating, and her neck is still very sore.
Fearing He Yaonian wouldn't believe her, Mingdai silently turned around, brushed aside her long hair, and showed He Yaonian her bruised and swollen nape.
"Third Uncle, you saw that, didn't you!"
He Xingqiong was so angry at the shocking marks that she almost jumped up.
"You should kick that mistress and her family out! This is absolutely outrageous! How could he lay a hand on his own wife? Mo Tingchuan is a beast!"
He Xingqiong was shouting and yelling, wanting to touch the wound on Mingdai's neck, but afraid of hurting Mingdai. She was so angry that she felt like she was about to burst into flames.
He Yaonian's expression wasn't much better; his gaze was fixed on the back of Mingdai's neck.
He knew that the area was originally as delicate as white jade.
Mingdai couldn't see it herself, but she felt pain and guessed there must be a mark. She just wanted to use this to make He Yaonian understand that she hadn't lied to him.
"Has it been dealt with?"
He Yaonian couldn't sit still any longer and stood up to ask Mingdai, "Have you gone to the hospital yet?"
The man's tall figure approached, blocking most of the bright light.
Mingdai obediently turned to face He Yaonian, her long hair gently draped over her shoulder, unaware of her own charm.
"No."
It wasn't very noticeable during the day, probably because I was too busy with other things to pay attention to it.
