Chapter 31: Don't expect anything good to come of it.

Mo Yumei seemed stumped by the question, and shook her head as if she knew nothing.

"How would I know?"

Mingdai sneered, "Then what are you doing here now?"

Mo Yumei's expression immediately turned sad.

She sighed and wiped away her tears sadly.

"You may not know, but after you disappeared yesterday, Qingying was terrified. She knew she had made a terrible mistake, and she was filled with remorse. She wanted to turn herself in, but she was afraid of going to jail. Later..."

Mo Yumei glanced at Mingdai with a pained expression.

Mingdai remained expressionless, watching the spectacle with amusement.

Mo Yumei's pained expression froze on her face. Her lips trembled as she thought about how Mingdai was cold and selfish.

He covered his face with both hands, overwhelmed with grief.

"Qingying decided to atone for her sins with her death and drank a lot of sleeping pills."

The large living room was deserted, presumably because Mo Yumei had given instructions to the housekeeper beforehand.

This was also to make it easier for her to perform.

"Oh, so is he dead or not?"

Mingdai wasn't in a hurry to go to the hospital to find her mother. She sat down, picked up the teapot, poured herself a cup, and slowly drank it to soothe her throat.

Mo Yumei was taken aback by Mingdai's words.

She looked up at Mingdai in disbelief.

"What did you say?"

Mingdai smiled faintly, her heart unmoved.

"Whether she paid with her life or committed suicide out of guilt, you know better than I do, but it doesn't matter anymore. She's made such a fuss because she wants me to let her off the hook and not pursue the matter any further."

Finally, it touched Mo Yumei's heart.

Mo Yumei's eyes were red and she was holding back tears. Her voice was muffled and filled with helplessness and resignation.

“Mingdai, you know Qingying doesn’t have the guts to harm you, nor does she have such a vicious heart. She has already paid the price for her actions. As her mother, I’m begging you on her behalf to let this end.”

They say they want something, but they don't take any real action. They just repeat the same things over and over, and they're not sincere.

Furthermore, given how much mistreatment Dai has endured, even if they can't get a divorce, she won't let that mother and her children have an easy time.

Mingdai also feigned sadness.

“I never expected her to treat me like that. We used to be so close, but I don’t know when it started, she stopped being close to me and instead spent all her time with her best friend Qin Weiwei, like sisters.”

Mo Yumei was startled.

This was the first time Mingdai had mentioned Qin Weiwei in front of Mo Yumei since Mo Tingchuan confessed to her.

It's impossible for Mo Yumei not to panic.

Infidelity during marriage is never a good thing. Her son, Mo Tingchuan, was in the prime of his career and had had enough of Ming Dai's arrogant attitude as a benefactor. It just so happened that Qin Weiwei was pregnant. Fortunately, the interests of the Ming and Mo families were intertwined, so even if Ming Dai made a fuss, she didn't dare to go too far.

I thought that after I got to the He family, Mingdai would be willing to turn a blind eye and become the young mistress of the He family, but who would have thought that Mingdai would look down on me in the slightest.

If I had known better than to let my son be honest with Mingdai, and if I had secretly kept Qin Weiwei, Mingdai would never have known, and all this trouble wouldn't have happened today.

Seeing Mo Yumei's ever-changing expression, Mingdai had no intention of letting her off the hook.

"That Qin Weiwei should live in the Mo family villa, right? When we met on the street last time, you were so worried that she might get hurt. She's really precious, after all, she's pregnant with your Mo family's child. If it were me, I would also treat her like a precious gem."

Mo Yumei stared at Mingdai in astonishment.

Mingdai raised her eyebrows, her smile not reaching her eyes.

"You can't possibly think that my silence means I've accepted Qin Weiwei, can you?"

Mo Yumei's lips trembled; she couldn't refute it, for that was indeed what she thought.

Qin Weiwei's family background is not good enough for her son, but she is fertile. As long as she stays obediently by her son's side, he can treat her like his own daughter.

But Ming and Dai are different; even if they eventually part ways, they must separate in a dignified and harmonious manner.

Mingdai's heart was like an ice cube in the cold winter.

Mo Tingchuan's infidelity was one thing, but his mother and sister not only didn't say a word of protest for Mingdai, they also thought Mo Tingchuan was right and supported him without hesitation.

Three years of sincere feelings, truly wasted.

Mingdai put down her teacup, stood up, smoothed out a slight wrinkle in her skirt, and looked down at Mo Yumei with disdain.

Her small mouth looked like it had been coated with deadly poison.

"You mistresses are so proud of each other, taking pride in destroying other people's families. You feel smug when you tear other people's relationships apart, thinking you are the most amazing people in the world."

“But I am different from you. I would never do such a despicable thing as you, let alone help the wicked.”

They wanted her to endure the humiliation and accept Qin Weiwei.

They don't even know their own limitations.

Sitting on the sofa, Mo Yumei trembled with humiliation.

She looked up at Mingdai angrily, her eyes turning red with rage.

“Mingdai, as a daughter-in-law, it’s one thing if you don’t understand your husband or your sister-in-law, but now you dare to talk to your mother-in-law like that.”

Mo Yumei wanted to stand up and educate Mingdai.

Mingdai is no longer the obedient daughter-in-law she used to be.

For the past three years, she has made concessions again and again for the sake of family harmony, which has made Mo Yumei think that she is a very authoritative mother-in-law.

"Aren't you a mistress? Didn't you break up someone else's family?"

Mo Yumei pressed her hands to her chest, gasping for breath, as if she were about to die.

Mingdai found it funny.

I feel much better now.

I think of my mother, who was still in the hospital, completely oblivious to everything else and focused solely on taking care of Mo Tingchuan.

"Oh, by the way, your son bumped his head on an ashtray yesterday and is in the hospital getting an IV drip. My mom is with him. You'd better go and relieve my mom as soon as possible."

Mo Yumei stared in disbelief, as if she had heard something out of the blue.

She suffered a myocardial infarction due to these successive misfortunes.

"What did you say?"

How could her son do that?

Mingdai smiled radiantly.

"If my mom finds out anything, I guarantee no one will have a good time."

It doesn't matter if she can't get a divorce for the time being, but she can kill anyone who makes her unhappy.

Mo Yumei paused for a moment, then grabbed her bag and ran out.

Mingdai was in a good mood and decided to go find breakfast.

"Third Uncle."

Suddenly, He Xingjian's voice came from upstairs.

Mingdai's steps, which were just turning to head towards the kitchen, suddenly froze.

She mechanically turned her head as if she had seen a ghost.

He Yaonian, who hadn't gone to work for some reason, finally came downstairs at this moment.

He walked with a calm expression, adjusting his watch as he went. His tailored suit was understated yet luxurious, and his long legs quickly brought him to the living room.

Mingdai stared in disbelief.

Did He Yaonian not hear anything just now?

"morning."

After going downstairs, He Yaonian walked straight to the restaurant, in the same direction as Mingdai.

He stopped in front of her, his gaze deep and his handsome face captivating. A faint scent of masculine cologne wafted into Mingdai's nose, making her heart race.

Mingdai nodded several times, looking rather silly, "Good morning."

"Shall we go get breakfast?"

He Yaonian asked.

Mingdai nodded. "Mm."

"Then together."

Mingdai had no reason to refuse.

"good."

Did he hear that?
