Chapter 35 A person with an upright character has nothing to fear.

Mingdai felt fine; her stomach felt warm after taking the Chinese medicine, and she slept well all night.

The following evening, a wealthy woman in the circle was having a birthday party. Mingdai, who was on good terms with her, also had to go and celebrate.

Mingdai arrived relatively early. Since the wealthy woman had many close friends, she greeted them and then found a corner to sit down casually, planning to leave after cutting the cake.

The rich lady's son was very naughty and kicked a small soccer ball to Mingdai's feet.

Mingdai smiled and kicked the ball back to him.

The child thought Mingdai was playing with him, so he went up and grabbed Mingdai's hand.

"Auntie, shall we go out and play?"

It's not very convenient here; there are people everywhere, and it wouldn't be good if I accidentally kicked someone.

Mingdai figured she had nothing else to do, so playing with the kids wouldn't hurt.

She said goodbye to the wealthy woman before she left.

We found an open space outside, with few people and plenty of room, so we could perform freely.

The child was at the noisy and playful age, and Mingdai deliberately coaxed him, making him cry out and have a great time.

After playing for a while, it got dark, and the rich lady was busy greeting relatives and friends, so she didn't pay attention to her son.

The child also liked Mingdai and clung to her side.

Even after the cake was cut, the child kept asking to eat the piece that Mingdai was holding.

Mingdai didn't mind; she couldn't eat too many sweets at night, as it would put a strain on her stomach.

Seeing that the child liked it, I simply gave it all to him.

The atmosphere was lively and relaxed, but Mingdai wasn't in a good mood. She took a few sips of champagne and decided to leave.

But at that moment, a cry of alarm came from the crowd, followed by chaos and confusion.

It wasn't until the rich woman's husband carried the child towards the door that Mingdai learned from others that the child seemed to have an allergic reaction.

Who gave her the chocolate?

The wealthy woman stood in the crowd, panicking and shouting, "My son can't eat chocolate! I warned everyone before!"

Mingdai knew that her child was allergic to chocolate, as the wealthy woman had also frequently complained about this when she interacted with her before.

Now that this mess has happened, the birthday celebration is ruined. There were supposed to be more activities planned, but we had no choice but to call it off.

But right now, the most important thing is the child's health.

“I saw that she gave it to me.”

A little girl of about seven or eight years old pointed at Mingdai from the crowd.

The chaotic scene suddenly fell silent.

Mingdai didn't speak; she stared at the little girl, scrutinizing her.

She searched her memory repeatedly, confirming that she did not recognize the child.

"Children don't lie, is it really you?"

Some people looked at Mingdai with suspicion and uncertainty.

Mingdai is well-liked in the circle, and everyone likes her.

"I don't think so, Mingdai. You should know best that Sister Le's son can't eat chocolate. You've known Sister Le for so long, you can't be that careless, right?"

Some people defended Mingdai, arguing that it couldn't possibly be Mingdai.

Mingdai also shook her head in denial, "It wasn't me. I don't have the habit of bringing chocolates when I go out."

She asked the little girl who had already shrunk behind her mother.

"You said I gave it to you, but where did you see it? Kid, are you sure you're not mistaken?"

"I didn't see it wrong."

The little girl insisted, "You clearly took it out of your bag. You gave it to him when you were playing soccer with Xiangxiang."

The crowd gasped in disbelief.

No one had any reason to believe that the little girl would lie, but everyone had seen Mingdai playing football with the little boy.

"I had long heard that Miss Ming disliked children, and seeing her today confirms it."

The little girl's mother looked at Mingdai with a very pointed gaze.

"Ms. Ming, you and your husband have been married for three years, right? Everyone says you two are a loving couple, but why haven't you had a child yet after three years?"

This woman...

Mingdai looked strangely familiar; she felt like she had seen her somewhere before.

"Yeah, if the couple has such a good relationship, how come they haven't had a child in three years?"

"I've heard from others that she really doesn't like children and takes every opportunity to bully them. She's really heartless."

The women, all of whom were unfamiliar to Mingdai, sang in unison.

Aside from the little girl's mother, who looked somewhat familiar, Mingdai had absolutely no recollection of the others.

The crowd at the scene was abuzz with discussion.

Mingdai realized she had been tricked.

She just couldn't understand why these people were plotting against her.

She shouldn't have had any bad dealings with these people, right?

Why aren't you saying anything? But usually, not saying anything means you agree.

“Mingdai, since you’ve done it, don’t be afraid to admit it. Otherwise, if they find chocolate in your bag later, it will be too late for you to confess.”

Several women were aggressive.

The others, assessing the situation, simply stared at Mingdai with complicated expressions.

"Little girl."

Mingdai remained calm and waved to the little girl.

She smiled and asked, "You said I took the chocolate out of my bag and gave it to Xiangxiang, so do you know what color the chocolate was? What kind of packaging it had? Was it a big piece or a small piece? Or do you recognize the brand?"

The little girl seemed stumped by the question, and she secretly looked up at her mother.

Annoyance flashed across the woman's face.

She stopped her daughter from yelling at Mingdai.

"How would my daughter know all these questions? The light outside isn't very good, so how could she see so clearly?"

"Mingdai, why don't you just empty the contents of your bag and let everyone see? They'll know immediately if there's any chocolate in it."

"Yeah! There's no point in saying all this. Just take everything out of the bag and it'll be clear."

Several women, looking menacing, were certain that Mingdai had chocolate in her bag.

Mingdai had placed this small bag on the garden fence when she was playing football with the little boy.

Now that things have escalated like this, there probably really was chocolate in the bag.

The wealthy woman approached Mingdai step by step, her face filled with sorrow.

She looked at Mingdai in disbelief.

“Mingdai, we’ve known each other for so long, I don’t believe you would harm my son.”

Mingdai smiled bitterly, "Sister Le, you know very well what kind of person I am. Besides, we have no grudge against each other, so why would I harm a child?"

"That's because you hate children. The reason you patiently played football with Xiangxiang before was to find an opportunity to give him chocolate."

The little girl's mother was filled with righteous indignation.

"You know very well that a child like Xiangxiang is simply unable to resist the temptation of chocolate, so you did this on purpose."

The two women with her nodded in agreement.

"That's so vicious. I never thought you were this kind of person."

Mingdai didn't argue with them, but looked at the rich lady.

"Sister Le, let's check the surveillance footage."

"Hey, don't pretend anymore. If they really find out, you'll be in trouble."

"This is intentional assault, the police will arrest you."

Mingdai is upright and has nothing to fear from a crooked shadow.

"Sister Le, I have no reason to admit to something I didn't do. Check the surveillance footage."
