Chapter 39 Is Uncle feeling unwell somewhere?

In the quiet corridor, only Mingdai's low sobs could be heard for a moment.

She didn't want to lose her composure in front of He Yaonian. She knew it would look terrible, but she couldn't stop the waves of suppressed pain and resentment welling up in her throat.

This is the consequence of her reckless courage.

While Mingdai was immersed in her grief and unable to extricate herself, He Yaonian quietly left for a minute or two.

When Mingdai realized that her hand had been gently pulled away and something warm had been placed in her palm, she looked over with teary eyes.

It's a cup of milk tea from a Chinese-style brand with an elegant logo; a straw has already been inserted into the cup.

She really likes this milk tea and has previously expressed her love for it on social media.

Mingdai unconsciously looked up again.

He Yaonian's unbelievably handsome face was looking down at her, his deep black eyes as vast as the ocean, capable of drawing a person in at a glance.

"I heard this tastes really good, you should try it."

He tried to stop her from crying in this very direct way.

Mingdai froze, tears still clinging to her eyelashes, her pale face looking fragile and pitiful.

Her petite figure, dressed in a formal gown, was wrapped in He Yaonian's black coat. She held the milk tea blankly in both hands, her eyes red, looking as docile as a harmless little animal.

Mingdai felt a sense of unreality, as if she were being especially cherished. She held the milk tea up to her eyes and examined it carefully, forgetting to cry.

He mumbled softly in a somewhat hoarse voice.

"Thank you, Third Uncle."

Although she should avoid drinking these things normally, as she needs to consume the healthiest nutrition, people can't live like machines, rigidly following the rules.

It's been a long time since I last had this milk tea.

Mingdai cherishes life, but also hopes to enjoy it.

She took a sip, biting the straw gently.

The milk tea has a rich, sweet flavor, just like I remember.

For some inexplicable reason, I suddenly wanted to ask He Yaonian.

"How did Uncle know this milk tea was so good? Who told you?"

He doesn't seem like the type to drink milk tea.

In real life, the men she meets almost never drink milk tea.

Mingdai had completely stopped crying. Sipping her milk tea, she silently wiped away her tears and looked at He Yaonian somewhat embarrassed. She had just asked impulsively and didn't know where all those questions came from.

It felt like they were invading my privacy; it was very inappropriate.

"I'm sorry, I..."

"That's what Xingqiong said."

He Yaonian showed no displeasure at being offended.

He turned and sat down next to Mingdai. The faint, cool scent of his perfume wafted into Mingdai's nose, like snow in the deep mountains, or like the distant and mysterious scent of pine.

“Xingqiong is usually very interested in these things.”

He Yaonian glanced at Ming Dai, his gaze sweeping over her lips as she bit her straw.

Mingdai's lips have a healthy, rosy color, enhanced by lipstick. Normally, due to her health condition, they appear slightly pale.

"Is it good?"

He Yaonian asked.

Mingdai swallowed the milk tea, the fragrance lingering on her lips and teeth.

She nodded. "It tastes good."

Seeing He Yaonian staring intently at her, she couldn't help but ask, "Would you like some too?"

He Yaonian remained silent.

His throat bobbed almost imperceptibly.

Mingdai didn't see it, so she was about to get up.

"I'll go buy it for you."

He Yaonian just bought it for her, so now she's going to buy it for him. It's a give-and-take situation, so they're even.

"Need not."

He Yaonian reached out and grabbed Mingdai's wrist.

Mingdai looked down blankly, watching the man's large hand completely grasp her slender wrist.

He didn't use much force, but Mingdai felt a burning sensation where he was being gripped.

He Yaonian withdrew his hand subtly.

At this moment, Sister Le came out of the ward.

Mingdai snapped out of her daze and stood up to look at Sister Le.

How is Xiangxiang?

Sister Le looked like she had just escaped a disaster.

"She slept soundly and there are no major problems."

Mingdai breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good."

Sister Le glanced behind Mingdai.

He Yaonian also stood up at some point. He was tall, handsome, and had a calm and extraordinary demeanor, standing out from the crowd wherever he went.

Sister Le glanced at He Yaonian and was shocked. Who is this? He's so handsome.

He glanced back at Mingdai silently. Mingdai was still wearing He Yaonian's coat, which was ankle-length and quite warm.

"Who is this?" Sister Le really didn't recognize He Yaonian.

It's really a difference in social circles. At most, Sister Le and Ming Dai are from relatively wealthy business families, but He Yaonian comes from a genuine aristocratic family.

Otherwise, why would Mo Tingchuan have been so shameless as to accept ridicule and humiliation in order to return to the He family at all costs?

Mingdai glanced back, wanting to tell Sister Le that this was her third uncle.

But He Yao Nian is still so young, only a few years older than her, it wouldn't be an exaggeration for her to call him brother.

"He is...my friend."

The best explanation is that friends are the best, and it's also easier for people to accept.

Le Jie wasn't a very curious person, and since Ming Dai said she was a friend, she didn't ask any more questions.

Turning to the topic of tonight's events.

"I'm sorry you had to go through this today. Go back and rest first, and we'll talk about what happens next tomorrow."

Sister Le patted Mingdai's arm apologetically.

"I really didn't expect it to turn out like this; you almost suffered an injustice."

Mingdai shook her head.

"Sister Le, I have to thank you for trusting me from beginning to end, otherwise I might have really had to suffer in silence."

"With our relationship, how could I not trust you?"

Sister Le chuckled and gently nudged Mingdai again.
