Before Ming Dai could react, He Yaonian finished speaking and his slender fingers danced skillfully across the black and white piano keys with graceful movements and a charming face.
He was playing a light and cheerful tune with a pleasant melody that easily immersed people in joy and made them forget their troubles and worries.
Mingdai stood there stunned for a moment before suddenly realizing that He Yaonian had played this cheerful tune to cheer her up because he saw that she was in low spirits.
He's always so thoughtful.
Mingdai slowly walked over and, under He Yaonian's gaze, gently sat down beside him.
She placed her left hand on the piano keys.
He Yaonian stopped what he was doing, and Mingdai looked at him.
He Yaonian understood, withdrew his left hand, pressed the piano key with his right hand, and Mingdai followed suit.
The piece is short, lasting only two or three minutes.
The two worked together for the first time, and their collaboration was seamless.
As the last syllable fell, Mingdai's lips curled into a smile.
In this world, apart from her parents, very few people care about her joys and sorrows anymore.
Not to mention deliberately trying to make her happy.
The food was served, and it looked, smelled, and tasted delicious.
He Yaonian served food to Mingdai without chatting, focusing solely on getting her to eat.
Mingdai was flattered and didn't take He Yaonian's thoughtfulness and attentiveness for granted.
She thought that perhaps her previous depression was too obvious, so He Yaonian kindly wanted to make her feel better.
After the two finished eating, the ground was already bubbly, and the rain fell like a curtain, making the whole world damp and hazy.
He Yaonian took Mingdai back to the He family villa.
On the road, the rain pounded against the car roof, deafeningly loud.
The noise was not conducive to conversation, and the two remained silent, yet there was no awkwardness.
Upon arriving at the villa, He Yaonian got out of the car first.
He opened an umbrella and came to pick up Mingdai.
The wind blew, making Mingdai's hair disheveled. Heavy rain flew onto her face, blurring her vision. Mingdai blinked and didn't notice the puddle at her feet.
Before Mingdai could even gasp, her body felt light again, and her feet landed back on the ground.
She stared blankly at He Yaonian, whose expression remained unchanged.
Just now, did He Yaonian put his arm around her waist and pick her up?
She turned her head to look at the spot where she had just gotten off the bus.
The puddle wasn't big, but it would wet her shoes and might even splash onto her calves.
Be careful.
He Yaonian reminded her in a low voice.
Finally, feeling that it was dark and the road was slippery, he reached out and took her wrist.
"Let's go."
Mingdai was unable to break free.
She didn't know why either.
By the time she realized what was happening, the two of them had already gone up the steps.
He Yaonian only let go of her hand the moment he stepped through the door.
The butler came out to greet them.
"Third Master is back."
The butler took the umbrella from He Yaonian's hand.
They discovered Mingdai behind He Yaonian.
"Miss Ming is back too."
Mingdai awkwardly hid her wrist, which He Yaonian had just held, behind her body, her heart pounding louder than the heavy rain outside.
Mingdai felt her ears and face turn completely red.
He forced himself to greet the housekeeper before hurriedly entering the house.
Fortunately, no one was in the living room, and He Yaonian had already gone upstairs.
Mingdai picked up the teapot on the coffee table and poured herself a glass of water. The warm tea was just right to quench her thirst.
He drank it all in one gulp, and his rapid heartbeat hadn't calmed down yet.
Mingdai silently sat down, holding onto the sofa armrest.
A person was lost in thought for a long time until the phone rang.
It was Qin Weiwei calling.
Mingdai gently patted her slightly flushed cheeks and answered the phone.
"I'm fine now."
Qin Weiwei came to let everyone know she was safe.
“I woke up and didn’t see you. They said you were gone,” she explained.
"Yes, it's good that you're alright."
Mingdai's heart clenched at the thought of Qin Weiwei's reckless actions.
"You're taking too much of a risk."
In other words, the steps are not high; otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"How can you know if something is still worthwhile if you don't take the risk?"
Qin Weiwei's tone was bitter, "Do you think I'm funny?"
She laughed at herself, "Isn't it pathetic?"
Mingdai remained silent.
Qin Weiwei's voice was weak and tinged with confusion.
“But when we were together, he doted on me and loved me so much, as if only I could give him true happiness.”
Mingdai didn't want to say anything.
Qin Weiwei gave another sorrowful smile.
"I can't give up so easily."
Mingdai hung up the phone.
Qin Weiwei remained obstinate, or perhaps she no longer cared about Mo Tingchuan's feelings for her; she only cared about getting what she wanted.
In the study, He Yaoyuan sat opposite the sofa.
He Yaonian leaned back on the sofa, closing his eyes to rest.
He Yaoyuan silently sized up his brother, whose features were even more handsome than when he was a boy.
Time has always seemed to be the hand of an artist on He Yaonian. From his youthful brilliance to his current maturity and composure, he has only become more and more unpredictable and enigmatic. All his ruthlessness and coldness are hidden beneath his gentlemanly demeanor.
Despite being older than He Yaoyuan, He Yaoyuan was still afraid of his much younger brother.
He Yaonian's eyelids twitched slightly, his breathing gentle.
"How long does Big Brother plan to watch?"
He Yaoyuan suddenly came to his senses.
He coughed lightly, feeling a little awkward, before explaining his purpose.
"Things have changed a bit. Mingdai pushed Qin Weiwei down the steps today. Fortunately, both the adults and children are unharmed, but it seems that Mingdai doesn't intend to divorce Tingchuan."
He Yaoyuan frowned with worry.
"I think Mingdai most likely wants to cause Qin Weiwei to miscarry, and then find a way to completely separate Qin Weiwei and Tingchuan, so that she and Tingchuan will have no more worries."
He Yaonian remained silent, as if he were completely asleep.
He Yaoyuan knew he was perfectly lucid.
