Chapter 7 Don't be so ambitious, your third uncle doesn't think much of you.

The dining room fell silent for a moment.

Mingdai was also stunned.

She looked up.

Wow!

Why is it He Yaonian?

He's busy right now.

He immediately stood up, stood properly to the side, and mumbled softly.

"Third Uncle."

She was just pretending; she won't actually fall. She's afraid of getting hurt.

He Yaonian's tie was missing, two buttons on his shirt were undone, and his sleeves were rolled up to reveal his strong forearms. He didn't speak, but the expression on his handsome face was indescribably sharp.

He silently surveyed the people at the table.

Feeling guilty, He Yaoyuan stood up and coughed as he tried to smooth things over.

"Butler, quickly set out the bowls and chopsticks."

Everyone else was as quiet as a chicken.

Without He Yaonian's instructions, the steward dared not step forward.

The atmosphere froze.

He Yaonian's gaze swept over the bottles of strong liquor on the table, and he stared at He Yaoyuan indifferently.

“Brother, except for holidays, no strong liquor is allowed on the He family’s dining table. I know you may have forgotten, but I suggest you remember this from now on.”

His words, neither too harsh nor too mild, were already a great deal of face-saving for He Yaoyuan.

He Yaoyuan was still embarrassed. He laughed exaggeratedly, "Yes, yes, yes, look at my memory, I was so happy today that I forgot."

He Yaonian narrowed his deep eyes slightly as he surveyed the younger generation who stood ramrod straight.

The young masters and ladies of the He family all lowered their heads.

Questions regarding He Yaonian's death.

"Have you all forgotten too? Hmm?"

No one uttered a sound; they were all silent, trembling with fear.

There's no way around it. He Yaonian is the only one who can handle the entire He family. Although the others each have their own strengths, none of them would dare to shoulder the heavy responsibility if the He family were handed over to them. They just can't manage it. That's the key point.

"Third Uncle, we know we were wrong, and we will never do it again."

He Xingqiong withstood the pressure and forced a smile to rescue her brothers and sisters. They just wanted to see what other tricks the Mo family could pull, but they never expected to shoot themselves in the foot.

He Xingqiong cleverly shifted the firepower again.

"Third Uncle, we didn't drink a single drop of alcohol."

"Yes, Uncle, we really didn't drink it. They insisted on toasting us with that wine."

"Mo Tingchuan, it's fine if you can't offer the toast, but why did you bring your wife, who has a cold, out?"

"Wow, I'm really impressed by your family. That's baijiu (Chinese liquor), and your sister poured a full glass without even blinking. Why didn't she drink it herself!"

"If Uncle San hadn't come down and caught Mingdai, would you still be accusing the He family of intentionally hurting people?"

The young masters and ladies aren't fools; they're very perceptive!

The atmosphere became tense.

The Mo family of three all wore expressions of utter embarrassment.

Mo Yumei, in particular, had wine all over her face and some spilled on her clothes, and was so embarrassed that she just wanted to get away from this shameful farce as soon as possible.

"It's my fault. I just wanted to introduce Mingdai to everyone, but I didn't expect her to have a cold. Luckily, she didn't drink any wine."

Because He Yaoyuan protects his wife and children, the young masters and ladies will still give him some face.

Sure enough, everyone fell silent.

He Yaoyuan looked at He Yaonian.

"Let me take them to tidy up first. You've been busy all day, so hurry up and have some food."

He Yaonian didn't say anything.

He Yaoyuan quickly called Mo Tingchuan and Mo Qingying to help Mo Yumei leave, seemingly having completely forgotten about Ming Dai.

Mingdai wasn't angry, anyway, the Mo family of three had completely lost face today.

"Hey you, what's wrong? What are you standing there for? Aren't you going to eat?"

He Xingqiong stole a glance at He Yaonian, who had returned to the main seat. The butler was personally serving He Yaonian food, and He Yaonian was eating attentively.

She quickly ran over and pulled Mingdai back to her seat.

Mingdai felt an indescribable mix of emotions.

Strangers still showed some kindness, but those she considered family members were ruthlessly trampling on and bullying her.

After dinner, Mingdai had just gone upstairs when Mo Tingchuan grabbed her wrist and dragged her out of the villa.

The manor was full of secluded corners, and Mingdai was thrown against a vine-covered wall.

"You did this on purpose today, didn't you?"

"I've never seen you cough before, so why are you coughing so incessantly now?"

Mingdai's body, weakened by years of illness, was not as strong as others. Mo Tingchuan slammed her against the wall with great force, and she could not maintain her balance. She tried to brace herself with her wrists, but her cheeks inevitably hit the flower wall.

The sting was so sharp that Mingdai closed her eyes in pain.

"Stop pretending!"

Mo Tingchuan was annoyed by her fragility, and Qin Weiwei had already told him that Dai knew that being delicate and weak was the only way to arouse a man's pity, which was why she had used this tactic in front of Mo Tingchuan many times.

Mo Tingchuan pulled Mingdai back again, his large hand gripping her collar tightly.

"Are you deliberately getting revenge on me?"

Whenever Mo Tingchuan thought of the naked mockery and contempt the He family had shown him, his mother's tears of shame and pain, and his sister's soft sobs of grievance and sadness, he felt an urge to snap Mingdai's neck.

"I'm really not feeling well."

Mingdai was breathing rapidly, and her face was an unnaturally pale white.

"Mo Tingchuan, do you really think I caused this situation today? If you and your son hadn't returned to the He family, if you and your son hadn't tried to please the He family, would the He family have gone out of their way to make things difficult for you?"

Mingdai felt extremely uncomfortable as her collar was being grabbed.

"Let me go first."

Seeing that Mingdai seemed to be having trouble breathing, Mo Tingchuan frowned and let go of her hand in disgust.

It was already dark, and the evening breeze was rather cool.

Mingdai covered her chest and coughed softly twice.

Mo Tingchuan glanced at her.

Remembering He Yaoyuan's instructions, she swallowed her resentment.
