"Very good." Ning Nanxue said in a tone of approval, "Secretary Chen, I have seen your value."
"From now on, you will continue to be responsible for the affairs of the Fu Group. I believe you will not let me down."
Secretary Chen was even more excited when he heard this, and quickly said, "Please rest assured, President Ning, I will definitely not let you down!"
Ning Nanxue looked at Secretary Chen, her lips slightly raised, and a hint of deep meaning flashed in her eyes.
Secretary Chen's loyalty and ability made her more confident about the next plan.
Manager Song, as anxious as he was, hurried into Ning Nanxue's office.
"Nanxue!" He ignored the usual etiquette, and there was obvious anxiety in his tone.
Ning Nanxue raised her head, a little surprised, put down the documents in her hand and looked at the person who came.
"Xiao Li? Why are you here?"
Her tone sounded calm, and there was even a faint smile on her face, as if nothing had happened.
Manager Song looked at her pretending to be calm, and his heart tightened: "I heard from the assistant that you and Jiang Tingchen..."
He paused, as if weighing his words, but ultimately chose to be direct, "Did you two have some unpleasantness?"
Ning Nanxue's smile faded a little, but she still maintained a calm appearance.
"I guess so." She answered casually, as if she was just talking about an insignificant matter. "But it's nothing. It's a good time for me to concentrate on work."
She pointed to the pile of documents and added meaningfully, "Now that the Fu Group is under my control, there are many things to deal with."
Manager Song looked at her pretending to be relaxed and felt even more pity for her.
He knew that the more Ning Nanxue acted like this, the more it showed that she was under tremendous pressure and pain.
He didn't ask about the relationship anymore, but just walked to her side silently, his tone a little gentler.
"No matter how busy you are at work, you must take care of your health." His eyes fell on Ning Nanxue's slightly haggard face, his eyes full of worry. "You don't look well, did you not get enough rest?"
Ning Nanxue avoided his gaze and picked up the coffee cup on the table, but didn't drink it. She just rubbed the rim of the cup: "It's okay, it's just that I've been busy lately."
The office fell silent for a moment, with only the faint sound of shuffling papers.
Manager Song stood quietly by the side without saying anything, just silently accompanying her, giving her support and comfort with silent actions.
After a long while, Manager Song finally broke the silence again, his tone carrying a hint of worry and testing, "Fu Chen is now... completely defeated, right?"
Ning Nanxue raised her head, a cold look flashing in her eyes, "Yes, he can barely protect himself right now, how can he have the energy to care about anything else?"
Manager Song nodded, but his brows furrowed slightly. "What about Xu Zhiru? What are you going to do with her?"
His tone became more serious as he reminded her, "Those people in the Fu family are not easy to deal with, especially Xu Zhiru. She has been giving you trouble before. You can't let her go easily."
Manager Song's unintentional words struck Ning Nanxue's mind like lightning.
A cold smile slowly appeared at the corner of Ning Nanxue's mouth, and her eyes became deep.
"Xiao Li, you reminded me." Her voice was low and slow, as if she was brewing some plan. "Some 'gifts' should be prepared carefully."
Ning Nanxue immediately took action, picked up the intercom on the table and dialed Secretary Chen's number.
"Secretary Chen, please come in for a moment." Ning Nanxue said in a concise tone, thinking of Xu Zhiru pretending to be depressed.
Soon, Secretary Chen knocked on the door and walked into the office. He stood respectfully in front of the desk, waiting for Ning Nanxue's instructions.
"Boss Ning, what can I do for you?" Ning Nanxue motioned Secretary Chen closer with her eyes and lowered her voice, "Secretly investigate Xu Zhiru and Fu Chen's recent situation, especially Xu Zhiru. I want to know what she's been doing recently and who she's been meeting."
She paused, then added, "Also, follow up on Xu Zhao's disappearance. Report any new developments to me immediately."
Secretary Chen's expression froze, and he immediately understood Ning Nanxue's intention. "Yes, President Ning, I'll do it right away."
He turned and left the office and began to carry out Ning Nanxue's instructions.
In the hospital ward, Xu Zhiru was carefully tucking the corner of the quilt for Fu Chen, with a gentle smile on her face: "Ah Chen, how are you feeling today? Are you feeling unwell?"
Fu Chen's eyes wandered a little, not falling on Xu Zhiru's face. He just replied lightly, "Not bad."
His tone was cold, with a barely perceptible hint of distance.
Xu Zhiru noticed the change in Fu Chen's attitude and suddenly felt uneasy.
She suppressed her panic and said more gently, "The doctor said you need to rest more recently. Let me peel an apple for you."
As she spoke, she picked up the fruit knife and apple on the table and began to peel the apple carefully.
Fu Chen looked at her busy figure with complicated eyes, but still did not speak.
While peeling an apple, Xu Zhiru carefully observed Fu Chen's expression, trying to regain the intimacy and warmth they had before.
"Fu Chen, are you still angry with me? I know I shouldn't have said that before. I shouldn't have doubted you and Ning Nanxue..."
Her tone was soft, with a hint of grievance, "I promise I won't do it again in the future, please don't be angry, okay?"
Fu Chen finally turned his gaze towards her, but there was no warmth in his eyes: "You don't have to tell me this."
