"A man named Howard works for a Mr. Martin." Xu Zhao paused. "They are backed by a very successful international venture capital firm, far more powerful than Huayun."
Fu Chen's breathing stagnated: "Are they willing to help me?"
"Of course not the Bai Gang." Xu Zhao's tone turned cold. "They can invest in Fu Corporation and help you kick Hua Yun out, or even get Ning Nanxue out completely. But the condition is that they have to replace Hua Yun and take a considerable portion of the profits."
Fu Chen was silent.
This is tantamount to inviting a wolf into the house.
But compared to letting Ning Nanxue take control of the Fu family, this seems to be the only option.
"I want to see him." Fu Chen's voice was dry.
After hanging up the phone, Fu Chen looked at the dark night outside the window.
He knew that Howard's conditions were harsh and like drinking poison to quench thirst, but in order to take back the Fu family, he had no choice.
As long as he can regain control of the group, he is willing to pay any price.
Xu Zhiru walked in cautiously, holding a cup of warm water in her hand.
"Ah Chen, drink some water."
Fu Chen didn't answer, but just waved his hand: "Zhi Ru, go and rest first."
His voice was tired, but filled with a desperate determination.
Xu Zhiru looked at his tense back, opened her mouth, but ultimately said nothing and quietly retreated.
Ning Nanxue's office was brightly lit.
She stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, the neon lights of the city flickering in her eyes.
The Huayun investment brought by Jiang Tingchen was like a timely rain, solving the urgent problem.
But it was also like a layer of fog, making it difficult for her to see clearly.
She picked up her cell phone and dialed Secretary Chen's internal line.
"Secretary Chen, come in for a moment."
Soon, Secretary Chen, dressed in a professional suit, pushed the door open and walked in.
"Mr. Ning."
Ning Nanxue turned around, walked to the desk and sat down.
"Help me find someone."
Her voice was calm and steady.
"Please go ahead."
"Jiang Tingchen." Ning Nanxue said the name, "I want all the detailed information about him after he returns to China. The more detailed the better."
"Especially, his relationship with Huayun Group."
Secretary Chen was stunned for a moment, but quickly regained his professionalism.
"Okay, Mr. Ning. I'll do it as soon as possible."
"Remember," Ning Nanxue added, "do this in secret. Don't let anyone know, including Jiang Tingchen himself."
She needed to figure out what was behind this just-right help.
Is Tingchen approaching her simply because of old feelings, or does he have a deeper purpose?
"I understand." Secretary Chen nodded and turned to leave.
The office returned to silence.
Ning Nanxue opened the drawer and found a photo of her and Jiang Tingchen taken many years ago.
The boy in the photo has a bright smile and clear eyes.
She reached out and gently brushed her fingertips across his face in the photo.
Tingchen, who are you?
Fu Chen's meeting with Howard went more smoothly than expected.
Howard is a typical Western businessman, with blond hair, blue eyes, a formal smile, but sharp eyes.
The "Windhead Company" he represents has a style of operation that is just as its name suggests, swift and direct.
Without much small talk, both sides got straight to the point.
The conditions proposed by Howard were more stringent than what Xu Zhao had relayed. Not only did he demand a high share of the profits, but he also wanted to occupy a key seat on the board of directors.
Fu Chen had almost no hesitation.
"I agree."
Over the next few days, everything progressed at an astonishing pace.
The funds of Fengtou Company poured into the Fu Group’s account like a tide.
Its scale is so large that it even exceeds the previous investment of Huayun Group.
The atmosphere in Fu Chen's office changed completely.
He straightened his back again, and his arrogance returned to his face.
After signing the contract, he bought Xu Zhiru a valuable diamond necklace.
"Do you like it?" He put it on her, his fingers sliding over the skin on the back of her neck.
Xu Zhiru was flattered and a smile appeared on her face again.
"I like it! Ah Chen, you are so nice to me."
She snuggled into his arms.
Fu Chen hugged her, but his eyes were looking out the window.
This time, he wants to get it back with interest.
He picked up the intercom.
"Announce that an emergency board meeting will be held at 9:00 AM tomorrow."
His voice was steady and full of authority that brooked no argument.
"Yes, Mr. Fu." The secretary responded respectfully.
Fu Chen’s funds were in place and he regained his confidence.
In Ning Nanxue's office, Ning Nanxue was reviewing a project report when Secretary Chen knocked on the door and walked in.
"Mr. Ning."
"Speak." Ning Nanxue didn't even raise her head.
"President Fu just announced an emergency board meeting tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM," Secretary Chen said gravely. "Also... according to the Finance Department, a large sum of money was injected into the company's account today. The source is an overseas company called Fengtou Capital."
Ning Nanxue's hand paused as she signed.
Windhead Capital?
She raised her head: "What's the scale of the fund?"
"It's nearly 30% more than Huayun Group's investment..." Secretary Chen replied in a low voice.
It came as expected.
Ning Nanxue put down her pen and leaned back in her chair. Fu Chen's counterattack was faster and more violent than she had expected.
He is really capable of letting a wolf into the house.
She picked up her phone and dialed Jiang Tingchen's number.
The call was connected quickly.
"Xue'er." Jiang Tingchen's gentle voice came.
"Fu Chen has found a new backer." Ning Nanxue said succinctly, "A company called Fengtou Capital, whose investment scale exceeds that of Huayun."
