Chapter 50

Chapter 50

Lian Yu had a dream.

In his dream, a soft, warm little rabbit jumped into his arms and rubbed its furry head against him. He looked into the rabbit's red eyes and felt that it seemed a little sad. He couldn't help but touch the rabbit's head. Just when he thought the rabbit was about to run away, it suddenly pressed its head against Lian Yu's face and shed silent tears.

Lian Yu felt so distressed that he fed it with carrots, sang to it, and made faces to amuse it, but the little rabbit was always unhappy.

Dreams are always bizarre and strange. I don’t know what’s wrong with Lian Yu. He took out a snow-white veil from somewhere and put it on the little rabbit’s head. Almost the moment he put it on, the little rabbit’s tears stopped.

Somehow, the little rabbit suddenly turned into a man in Lian Yu's arms, and that man had the same face as Qin Yi.

Those eyes with smiles and tears looked at him, as if they had waited for this moment for too long.

Lian Yu woke up in fright.

The morning sun shone on his face, tickling the tip of his nose. Lian Yu rubbed his nose and sat up. He was in his own room, but for some reason, the bed beside him seemed to have been lain by someone else.

Lian Yu patted his head, still aching from the hangover. Perhaps it was just his own fault for sleeping so much.

After a quick wash, Lian Yu managed to pull out a formal suit from among the hoodies and jackets in his closet. Today was his internship day. Although he was interning at Chu Tian's company, as usual, he kept his identity a secret and started as an ordinary intern. Hopefully, everything would go well.

Lian Yu sneezed twice at the registration office.

"Brother Yu!" Zhou Fei had just walked to the registration office when he was attracted by two exaggerated sneezes. The moment he saw Lian Yu, his eyes lit up and he ran towards Lian Yu. "You're also interning at Kaiyuan? Why didn't you tell me earlier? I was so sad yesterday and thought I wouldn't be able to see you for a long time."

Before Lian Yu could answer, a low voice suddenly sounded beside him.

"Brother Yu? He is Lian Yu?"

"That scholar Lao Ai?"

"It seems to be true, the face is exactly the same!"

Lian Yu was a little confused. He frowned and looked at Zhou Fei: "Are they... talking about me?"

"Well," Zhou Fei looked embarrassed for a moment. He stretched out his arm to put his arm around Lian Yu's shoulder, and tried to change the subject with a dry laugh: "Oh, it's nothing, it's nothing. We don't want to hear it."

Lian Yu dodged his move by tilting her body.

Seeing the situation was at an impasse, Zhou Fei sighed, opened his phone, and pushed the video, which had already reached millions of views, in front of Lian Yu. Seeing Lian Yu leaning over and frowning, Zhou Fei closed his eyes with a look of reluctance, then nervously opened one eye again: "Don't take it to heart, this is pure rumor--"

"That's it?" Lian Yu stood up expressionlessly. He pointed at the blurred figure in the video: "Thankfully, Teacher Qin's face isn't visible."

Zhou Fei:?

Was the shock that severe? The child was so frightened that he couldn't even react. Zhou Fei was about to explain something when the once bustling registration area suddenly fell silent.

A serious-looking woman walked to the door and waved at Lian Yu. "Mr. Lian, there's a problem with your work card. It hasn't been processed yet. Go back and rest. I'll let you know when it's ready."

They said there was a problem with the work card, but everyone present understood that it was just a polite excuse.

Everyone's eyes fell on Lian Yu secretly, a bit of a scrutiny. Unfortunately, this excuse was so perfect that even the usually outspoken Zhou Fei could only stutter, "What the hell is this..."

But Lian Yu didn't react. He nodded, stood up and walked out the door.

"Hey, Brother Yu!" Zhou Fei hurriedly grabbed his arm, looking a little worried: "Are you really leaving?"

Lian Yu nodded, the corners of his lips curled up, and he used his eyes to signal Zhou Fei not to worry. When he reached the door, he suddenly stopped in front of the woman: "Since it's not my fault, then the salary should be paid normally, right?"

The woman paused noticeably, then finally reacted and nodded: "Don't worry about that."

Lian Yu happily left the company. He had come to this world solely for the mission; working, on the other hand, was a separate matter. Lian Yu actually felt that the forum post had come at the perfect time; it finally gave him a good reason to distance himself from Qin Yi.

On Monday morning, most people on the road were in a hurry, but Lian Yu was the only one who was calm and relaxed.

He first went to the bun shop in a leisurely manner and bought two buns stuffed with pickled pepper beef, and then strolled slowly to the park.

The morning air is so fresh, Lian Yu took a deep breath.

Suddenly, the sound of several elderly women discussing something reached his ears. Lian Yu's heart skipped a beat. Could it be that the gossip had spread to the middle-aged and elderly? Lian Yu touched the tip of his nose, lowered his head, and prepared to make a detour.

"Young man!" one of the old ladies suddenly called out to him. He had short, neat silver hair, was wearing a Tai Chi suit, and seemed to be in much better spirits than the other young people in the office building.

Lian Yu looked around to make sure the person was calling him. After all, it was hard to find another "young man" in the park at this time.

He approached doubtfully, and the old ladies who had formed a circle suddenly dispersed a little, allowing Lian Yu to see the snow-white ball of fur in the grass.

It was a white rabbit with big bright red eyes squatting in the grass. Seeing the rain approaching, the rabbit's tail twitched, but fortunately it did not run away.

"Young man, look at this rabbit that ran out from someone's house. Do you recognize it?" The old lady with short silver hair spoke first.

But soon another person muttered, "Is this a meat rabbit? How can a meat rabbit have an owner? We'll just take it back and eat it."

Lian Yu squatted down and met the rabbit's gaze. The rabbit pricked up its ears and leaned toward Lian Yu. Lian Yu carefully reached out his hand to the rabbit's round nose, but before he could touch it, something warm and wet licked his fingertips. The little rabbit looked at him and blinked.

Even Yuxin is so cute. It's just like a little bunny dog!

He quickly took off his coat and wrapped up the rabbit: "I'll find a nearby pet hospital. I'll go check on its condition first and then help it find an owner."

He stood up holding the rabbit, and was suddenly hit in the face by a mobile phone.

"Hey, this young man is so kind! He is so kind to save the rabbit here." The old lady patted Lian Yu first and then patted the rabbit wrapped in his coat: "Look, whose rabbit is lost?"

Unable to free his hand to support his forehead, Lian Yu gave a bitter smile.

Not wanting another video to appear in the old lady's group of friends, Lian Yu quickly found an excuse to run away with the rabbit. Fortunately, there was a pet hospital across the street from the park.

Just as Lian Yu had settled the rabbit, his phone suddenly rang.
