Chapter 54

Chapter 54

It was called market research, but in fact it was just the two of them strolling on the street and occasionally looking into roadside shops.

When the two of them walked into a jewelry store again, Lian Yu looked at Qin Yi, who was half-crouching in front of the shelf, picking out keychains. He touched the tip of his nose and said hesitantly, "As for market research...is this enough?"

Qin Yi did not look up: "What else do you want?"

Lian Ye was afraid that Qin Yi misunderstood that he was questioning him, so he hurriedly waved his hands to explain: "No, no, it's nothing."

Qin Yi looked up at him and suddenly stood up.

When the two stood facing each other, Qin Yi's chest happened to be level with Lian Yu's. He clenched his fist and put it in front of Lian Yu.

Lian Yu blinked, tentatively clenched his fist and lightly touched it with Qin Yi's fist.

With a clang, a copper bell dropped from Qin Yi's fingers, making a clear and loud sound.

Qin Yi shook the bell slightly, then took Lian Yu's bony knuckles and put them into the ring above the bell: "Since you don't want anything else, then this is it."

So that's what it means. Lian Yu stared at the bell jingling between his fingers, then suddenly raised his head as if realizing something: "This is..."

"Gift."

While he was stunned, Qin Yi had already paid the bill, crumpled the receipt into a small ball and threw it into the trash can, "Let's go."

Lian Yu hurriedly caught up with him, the bell swaying with his steps: "Isn't this a bit bad? Do you need anything? I'll buy it for you!"

"No need." Qin Yi refused, but his steps suddenly stopped and his eyes turned to the big screen on the outer wall of the shopping mall.

Lian Yu followed suit. It was a movie poster, not particularly impressive in terms of cast, but the style suggested an art film.

Lian Yu carefully studied the white artistic words on the light blue background:

Gazing at you in countless worlds.

"What does it mean?" Lian Yu was a little confused by this mysterious name. But he quickly remembered something and said "Oh".

"Do you want to see it?" Lian Yu met Qin Yi's eyes, "I'll treat you."

Qin Yi's gaze dodged, and his voice was a little stiff: "No need."

Lian Yu tilted her head to look at him for a moment, then suddenly grinned, revealing a row of healthy, white teeth: "Why are you being so polite to me?"

After saying that, Lian Yu grabbed Qin Yi's hand and ran away, ignoring Qin Yi's whispered struggle behind him: "What are you doing!"

He did what he said. Seven minutes later, Lian Yu pressed Qin Yi onto the cinema seat.

Just in time, the movie started.

The content is plain and simple. It is just a story about a human who keeps traveling through different worlds to save his lover. Unfortunately, his lover didn't remember him until the end of the story, and the human disappeared forever because he violated the rules of the world.

It's a rather clichéd and pessimistic story.

The ending song had not yet finished and the lights in the theater had not yet come on. Lian Yu looked at Qin Yi in the residual light of the screen.

Noticing his gaze, Qin Yi blinked quickly and said in a cold voice: "What a waste of ticket money."

Lian Yu leaned in closer, so close that he could see his own reflection in the other's eyes.

Qin Yi's eyelashes trembled in panic.

"But your eyes are red." Lian Yu's gaze fell on Qin Yi's lower body. The fragile skin there had been rubbed red at some point, and it inexplicably revealed a sense of illness.

Qin Yi's pupils shrank, and then he suddenly turned his head, blocking Lian Yu's sight. He spoke quickly: "Second-rate acting, third-rate script, only the camera is okay, this director is a photographer by profession -"

"How did you know!?"

A voice suddenly sounded behind the two of them, and soon a man with black-framed glasses came over, put his arms on the back of their chairs, his face full of excitement.

Lian Yu glanced at Qin Yi beside him, and Qin Yi showed the same puzzled expression as him.

The man with black-framed glasses then remembered to introduce himself: "Oh, sorry, I got a little too excited. The director you were just talking about is me, my name is Qian Qian."

"You're the director?" Lian Yu's eyes widened slightly. "Does a director need to buy a ticket to see it?"

Qian Qian chuckled and touched the back of his head a little embarrassedly: "Isn't this just contributing to my own box office...even if it's just psychological comfort."

Qin Yi suddenly spoke, his tone somewhat cold: "Your movie won't be a hit."

"I know." Qian Qian's hand, which was rubbing the back of his head, froze, and he gave a wry smile. But he quickly regained his spirits and moved closer to Qin Yi. "Oh, by the way, brother, your comments are so reasonable. Are you an industry insider? Can you write a review for me? Even a negative one is fine!"

Qin Yi frowned uncomfortably at the sudden close distance.

"cough!"

A strong hand suddenly stretched out, separating the two. Lian Yu pulled Qin Yi to his feet and said, "We're just taking a look."

After saying that, Lian Yu pulled Qin Yi and ran out of the square in one breath.

The two of them slowly stopped in the wind. Behind them, Qin Yi looked at Lian Yu's forehead, which was covered with sweat from running, and a small arc appeared at the corner of his lips.

"Are you hungry?" He turned around and interlocked his fingers with Lian Yu.

Lian Yu's pupils trembled, obviously not expecting him to be so bold.

“No, I…” Lian Yu tried to free his hands, but his stomach growled first.

I'm hungry.

Qin Yi bent his fingers to hide the smile on his lips, "Okay, it seems to be quite lively over there, let's go and take a look."

As night falls, the lights on the glass buildings have already been turned on, becoming part of the night city landscape.

The bright spots of light were dotted in Qin Yi's dark eyes, like an endless galaxy.

He didn't let go of Lian Yu's hand.

Lian Yu seemed mesmerized, letting Qin Yi pull him toward the bustling market. So many unfamiliar gazes, yet now, they seemed to be gently deflected by a gentle yet resilient shield, leaving only the two of them.

Qin Yi pulled him to a pancake stall and stopped.

The stall owner was a plump, white woman with a washed-out apron tied around her waist. Her strong arms swung a thick, wooden rolling pin. Seeing a customer approach, the stall owner took a break from her busy schedule to call out, "Are you here? Which one do you want?"

Lian Yu was about to answer when someone bumped into his shoulder. He turned around suddenly and saw a crowd of people behind him. He felt that there was a familiar figure.

Lian Yu frowned.

"What's wrong?" Qin Yi raised his hand and waved in front of him.

"...Nothing." Lian Yu shook his head slowly. Perhaps it was just his imagination. This was a city three hundred kilometers away. How could there be someone he knew?

Qin looked at him for a moment, then returned his attention to the stall in front of him. The young man half-lowered his gaze, looking at the golden pancakes on the stall. "What do you think the filling is?"

Lian Yu thought about it seriously for a while, and finally decided to ask the stall owner, but just as he was about to speak, he was stopped by Qin Yi.

As if playing a child's game, Qin Yi smiled lightly and looked at Lian Yu with a pair of eyes that were not malicious and provocative: "Let's make a bet. I guess it's apple filling."

"Apple?" Lian Yu almost laughed out loud. "Okay, let's make a bet. What's the bet?"

"Let's gamble first." Qin Yi's smile remained unchanged.

Lian Yu raised his eyebrows: "Then I guess it's filled with meat - Boss, give me a piece of this pancake."

"Okay!" The stall owner swiftly pulled the food bag over and put the pancake inside. "Here, the one with chive filling."

Lian Yu's smile froze, and even the act of paying became slow. Qin Yi didn't react in any particular way. He took the pancake from the vendor and thanked him with a smile.

"We all lost the bet." Lian Yu smiled and shook his head. "It seems our luck is not very good. I was thinking of setting up a bet, but now it's all over."

As Lian Yu was speaking, he bent down and wanted to take a bite of the cake, but Qin Yi suddenly pulled it back. Lian Yu missed and could only stare at Qin Yi with his eyes wide open, condemning him.

Qin Yi's eyes curved even wider with a smile, and he leaned over to whisper in Lian Yu's ear.

"You can't kiss after eating this."

Lian Yu heard his heart beat loudly.

There was a bustling crowd of people under the lights, and the two of them were outside the crowd. A thin wall separated them from an inviolable space, and the atmosphere in the space gradually became thicker.

"Actually, I've already thought of the bet." Qin Yi leaned forward, his lips brushing against Lian Yu's neck, leaving a soft touch that lingered for a long time: "If I win, you'll kiss me; if you win, I'll kiss you."

Somehow, a faint sense of loss lingered in Lian Yu's heart. He rubbed his fingertips nervously on the surface of his pants, his throat rolling, "But we both made the wrong bet."

"Then let's kiss."

As soon as the words fell, a familiar breath fell on Lian Yu's lips, burning like a falling star in the sky.

Lian Yu's eyelashes trembled unconsciously, as if something was about to break out of his heart.

The footsteps and conversations of passersby, as well as the dim lights outside the wall, everything receded so far away. Inside the wall, there were only two passionate and sincere souls.

In every minute and every second of the past, Lian Yu constantly reminded himself of their identities——

Qin Yi is his father's wife.

But at this moment, he put everything behind him.

The response seemed to come from a kind of muscle memory. Lian Yu leaned over and deepened the kiss. Qin Yi's body was forced to lean back in an arc, swaying.

A second before falling, Lian Yu stretched out his arm to grab it.

The two men pressed their foreheads together and panted heavily.

Qin Yi raised his hand and put it on his shoulder, looking at him with a pair of clear eyes, but his voice was bewitching: "You still like me, right?"
