Chapter 57
"Wait a minute!" Before Lian Yu could answer, Qin Yi suddenly grabbed his wrist.
Qin Yi hung up the phone. Under Lian Yu's bewildered gaze, he clicked back on the video Zhou Fei had forwarded to him. A naked body momentarily filled the screen. In the video, the short man who had previously cursed "faggot" was kneeling on the ground, his eyes blurry. Another distorted male voice could be heard.
Lian Yu blushed and shuddered, reaching out to cover the screen: "Don't look at it for now. Can we wait until we get back to study it? There are so many people here..."
Seeing Qin Yi press the pause button as he was told, Lian Yu breathed a sigh of relief. But before he could completely relax, he saw Qin Yi zooming in on a certain frame again and again - it was a blurry profile, and after magnifying the pixels several times, only a delicate outline could be produced, and it was even difficult to tell whether it was a man or a woman.
"This person," Lian Yu keenly sensed something, "Do you know him?"
Qin Yi looked up at him, his dark pupils slightly shrank, as if he was shocked and frightened after accidentally uncovering some shocking conspiracy.
Pop.
The glaring interrogation light came on, and the short man in handcuffs tilted his head in fear, listening to the cold footsteps stop in front of him.
Wan Heyi's shoulders shook and he looked up at the person who came.
"Mr. Chu." The young police officer who was interrogating nodded and greeted Chu Tian, and extended his hand to Chu Tian.
"Thank you for your hard work." Chu Tian shook the other's hand firmly, appearing friendly and humble, but his gaze quickly shifted. His gaze, gleaming from behind the silver-framed glasses, was like an iron nail, ruthlessly anchored in the flesh of Wan He Yi.
Under the light, Wan Heyi's face was pale.
"I, I'm just jealous of Lian Yu. Why does he have everything I want? Why do I live like a nobody, while he can live so confidently and legitimately?" Wan Heyi covered his head, the veins on his forehead bulging, as if he was filled with hatred. "But I didn't intend to do anything to him. I just wanted to kill his spirit!"
"Really?" Chu Tian raised his chin, and there was more pity in his eyes: "How pitiful."
"Shut up!" Wan Heyi suddenly jumped up, shaking the handcuffed chair loudly. "Don't pity me!"
"Quiet!" The young police officer pressed Wan Heyi down on the table.
The muscles in his neck tensed, gradually turning red as if from an alcohol allergy. Wan Heyi gritted his teeth, tears spilling from his red eyes. As the tide of hatred receded, the empty neural pathways were quickly filled with grievance, leaving the table damp.
"Why? Why does Lian Yu appear in my life? He has everything I want and lives such an easy life. What else can a person like this do except highlight my shortcomings in every way?" Wan Heyi muttered, not knowing who he was talking to.
Chu Tian smiled, crossed one of his long legs, and his shiny leather shoes shone with a cold light: "In that case, let's wait until Xiaoyu comes before telling him."
As soon as he finished speaking, Wan Heyi's eyes suddenly widened, and he raised his suppressed head eagerly and with great effort: "The rain will come!"
Chu Tian raised his eyebrows with interest: "Is it important to you whether Xiaoyu comes or not?"
"Of course!" Wan Heyi's eyes were crazy: "I want him to apologize to me in person!"
Chu Tian burst out laughing, as if he had just heard some ridiculous joke. How could someone be so foolish and so self-righteous? But Chu Tian thought to himself, maybe a good kid like Lian Yu would actually apologize to this lunatic.
"As long as Lian Yu can apologize to me, I will tell you who gave me those photos!"
These words really struck a chord with Chu Tian. He raised his chin and motioned Wan Heyi to continue.
A few seconds later, the answer was revealed, and Chu Tian's calm demeanor vanished. When his phone rang in his pocket, Chu Tian felt his scalp tingle.
"Xiaoyu!"
As if frightened by the fear in his tone, Lian Yu paused before speaking hesitantly: "...What's wrong, Dad?"
Chu Tian heard his heartbeat violently, and he slowly relaxed. He pinched his brows and pressed his weight on the back of the chair: "Nothing, where were you first? Don't come, don't run around, go home immediately."
"Don't worry, Dad. I called to tell you we're not going. We're almost home now." There was silence on the other end of the line for a moment. Lian Yu suddenly spoke in a serious tone, his voice sounding a little distorted due to electronic signal processing: "Dad, is this Chen Yuan?"
Chu Tian's grip on the phone suddenly tightened.
He stood up and walked out, neither saying yes nor no, but only admonishing: "Don't think too much, go back and rest early, and leave the rest to me."
After the call ended, Wan Heyi yelled in the interrogation room, "Is Lian Yu not coming?! He said he would come!"
Chu Tian paused, his tone as cold as ice: "Shut up."
"Uncle Li, please take good care of the young master, keep an eye on him, and don't let outsiders in." Chu Tian's voice came from the other end of the phone, and Uncle Li patiently agreed one by one.
"Okay, okay, don't worry, young master." Uncle Li put his phone on his shoulder and unlocked the doorbell for Lian Yu and Qin Yi outside. "When will you be back? You've been so tired recently because of the things going on online. Come back and rest early."
Lian Yu heard this when he walked in.
I don’t know what Chu Tian said on the other end of the phone, but I saw Uncle Li hung up the phone with a sad face.
"Uncle Li?" Lian Yu was a little worried.
"Ah, nothing, young master, go and have some rest, I'll be guarding here." Uncle Li said, locking the door behind him. He looked up and met Qin Yi's gaze.
Uncle Li paused and smiled: "Mr. Qin, is there anything else?"
"It was you who sold the photos to Chen Yuan, right?" Qin Yi opened his mouth, but it was not a rhetorical question.
As soon as he finished speaking, Lian Yu, who had already stepped onto the stairs, stopped abruptly because of this sentence, and stared at the two people who were silently confronting each other in front of the door with wide eyes.
Uncle Li remained calm, only smiling helplessly, "What are you talking about? How could I betray Mr. Chu?"
"Because you don't think you're betraying Chu Tian by doing this, right?" Qin Yi's dark eyes were bright, and he had clearly seen through everything. "What's your purpose? You probably hate me. After all, in your eyes, I'm an unfaithful person who married Chu Tian and seduced his son. I'm the culprit who ruined their father-son relationship."
"Qin Yi!" Lian Yu couldn't help but interrupt. He quickly walked to Qin Yi and held the cold hand.
Qin Yi saw the worry in Lian Yu's eyes. Lian Yu was just like that. Even when he spoke harshly to her, she would feel distressed. Qin Yi shook his head, smiled at Lian Yu soothingly, and then looked back at Uncle Li.
Uncle Li's expression had clearly changed. "You're right! It's people like you who have harmed Mr. Chu! Without you, Mr. Chu wouldn't have so many troubles to deal with, and wouldn't have to work so hard!"
"Uncle Li!" Lian Yu: "The person who spread the rumor is targeting me. What does it have to do with Qin Yi?"
"You've been deceived by this man's appearance!" Uncle Li interrupted him abruptly, his eyes suddenly softening, with the pity of an elder for a lost child: "Young Master, I will rescue you from this scam right away."
"What?" Lian Yu's scalp tingled.
Almost at the moment he asked the question, a black shadow rushed out from behind the kitchen sliding door and headed straight towards Lian Yu and Qin Yi.
Qin Yi's pupils suddenly constricted, and he cried out, "Chen Yuan!"
When had Chen Yuan been hiding here? Had he been watching them from behind that door the entire time? Qin Yi suddenly felt a chill creeping through his bones, but everything happened so quickly that he had no time to think.
The snow-white blade flashed, and Qin Yi instinctively protected Lian Yu behind him.
"Go to hell!" Chen Yuan shouted loudly and stabbed viciously.
The blade pierced the flesh, breaking through layers of tissue and splattering crimson blood. All the strength in his body seemed to be drained away, and Qin Yi felt himself falling into a soft embrace.
Lian Yu held his face in her trembling hands, shouting something, but he couldn't hear it all. Blood continued to flow from between his lips and teeth, covering his mouth and nose. Qin Yi slowly smiled.
I'm so happy. At least this time, Xiaoyu doesn't have to get hurt for him anymore.
Qin Yi looked at the affection bar above Lian Yu's head, which had already turned mostly red, and his vision gradually blurred. In the next world, you must fall completely in love with me.
Well, Xiaoyu, see you tomorrow.
