Chapter 12 The Opportunity Has Arrived!



Song Lizheng, his face dark, pointed at those people and cursed, "What are you looking at? You've never even seen a mad dog bite someone before."

Laughter erupted all around again!

Just then, two piles of firewood walked over from outside the village.

The people who had been laughing and joking just moments before suddenly fell silent, their expressions turning strange.

The gate on the courtyard wall slammed shut quickly, and those along the roadside slowly slipped away along the base of the wall.

Song, the village head, dropped the clod of earth he was holding and went to the woodpile: "Daping and Xiao'an, you two are gathering firewood again!"

Of the hundred or so households in the village, only Song Lao Er's family had the most firewood.

As soon as he entered the courtyard, he saw a mountain of firewood piled up behind the house. The two brothers had chopped the firewood day and night, intending to sell it in the city in the winter.

With these stacks of firewood, Song Lao Er earned another source of income.

In years when heavy snow closes the mountains, it's possible to sell the goods for three taels of silver, enough to buy food and drink for a family.

Hearing someone call his name, "Big Pile of Firewood" looked up, revealing a dark, thin face, his two big eyes filled with exhaustion.

Song Zhangping asked in confusion, "Did the village head come from my house?"
