Chapter 392 A Bite of Food Caused Trouble

Porridge, cakes, roast meat, cheese, pancakes, and all sorts of exquisite dishes were laid out on a large table.

Looking at these strange foods, Song Liyun's eyes widened: They hadn't been delivered for a long time, and now they had so much food. Even if I went hungry for three more days, I still wouldn't be able to finish it!

Just as she was about to ask someone, she saw Aunt Li walking gracefully towards her. She was as elegant as last time, but her clothes were plain, she was not wearing any makeup, and she looked a little haggard. She was also not accompanied by her two maids.

Upon seeing Song Liyun, she gave a guilty smile: "Miss Song, did you sleep well last night? It was my fault the other day. In the past, Madam was in charge of the household affairs, and I was only serving Master, so I neglected Anhua Courtyard, which frightened you. My master scolded me severely and even wanted to punish me by selling me... Miss, can you forgive me?"

Song Liyun glanced at the table full of food, then at Aunt Li who was clearly blocking her way, and raised an eyebrow: "To pull such a stunt just for a word of forgiveness, starving yourself to beg for it, the women in this household really do something!"

She smiled faintly: "Aunt Li doesn't need to apologize. In the chaos of the night before, it's inevitable that there were oversights. Besides, Aunt Li has made contributions, so she should ask the garrison commander for a reward! Don't you think so, Aunt Li?"

Aunt Li looked embarrassed. Song Liyun's words seemed reasonable, but how could she dare to ask for it?

Zhao Tinglei was so angry that he almost kicked her over, and he was too busy to look for her these past two days.

Seeing that her face was pale, Song Liyun knew that she had not yet gotten past Zhao Tinglei.

She didn't care about the couple's quarrel; eating was the important thing. So she walked around Aunt Li to the table and was about to sit down when Aunt Li stopped her again: "Miss Song, you'll have to wait a little longer!"

"Still waiting? Aunt Li, what kind of game do you want to play?"

Song Liyun's eyebrows shot up in anger. They didn't send it at first, and now that they've sent it, she can only look at it. Is it because she doesn't want to make a fuss that they're making fun of her?

Aunt Li hurriedly shook her head: "No, it's because the adults are coming soon, so we can't touch these plates."

"Miss Song, if these maids saw you like this, they would laugh at you."

Song Liyun then remembered that the little girl had said Zhao Tinglei was coming over for dinner. She frowned and muttered, "What a nuisance. Are we going to starve to death in Hecheng?"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than a chorus of greetings and bows came from outside the door: "My lord!" "Third Young Master!" "Young Master Song!" "Young Master Lin!"

There was another flurry of footsteps, indicating that quite a few people were approaching.

Aunt Li had already deftly waited by the door and lifted the curtain. Only Song Liyun, who knew nothing, stood by the table, staring blankly at the group of people who rushed in.

Upon seeing Song Liyun for the first time, Zhao Tinglei's face darkened, and Zhao Tingduo was dumbfounded.

Lin Qingyuan raised an eyebrow and laughed out loud: "Oh my, what did I see today! The pastries at the garrison are so delicious that even our Miss Song has started sneaking bites!"

Song Dekui shook his head and sighed, "Xiaoyun, even if you really want to eat it, wait a while. Don't be so greedy!"

When Song Liyun saw Zhao Tingduo suddenly appear, her eyes lit up, but she covered her mouth and coughed, unable to speak and could only stare blankly.

Zhao Tingduo couldn't help but chuckle, and with a smile in her eyes, she quickly walked to Song Liyun's side, massaging her back while bringing her a cup of milk tea from the table: "Eat slowly, have a sip of tea!"

Song Liyun was already choking. Without saying a word, she took the milk tea, took a sip, and then swallowed the small pastry in her mouth: "Ouch, I almost choked to death!"

She was starving, so when she saw Aunt Li walk to the door, she quickly picked up a piece of cake from the plate and stuffed it into her mouth.

Unexpectedly, not only Zhao Tinglei and Lin Qingyuan entered, but also Zhao Tingduo. In her anxiety, she choked.

Zhao Tinglei didn't look at Song Liyun, but pulled Zhao Tingduo to sit down at the table and said, "Third brother returned overnight, and we should have had a proper feast. However, I've been busy with official duties lately, so I can only have a simple meal with you."

Zhao Tingduo glanced at Song Liyun, but with everyone watching, he could only suppress all his concern.

"Brother, you have official business to attend to, so please don't stand on ceremony. Just have something to eat..."

Zhao Tinglei raised his hand to stop him from saying anything more: "Hey! Eat quickly, there are still people waiting outside." Then he gestured for Lin Qingyuan and Song Dekui to sit down next to him.

Aunt Li handed a copper kettle to Song Liyun, who had just caught her breath, saying, "Miss Song, please pour tea for these gentlemen!"

Song Liyun stared at her as if she were a monster, making Aunt Li feel a little uneasy: "Miss Song, pour some tea! Can't you see that all the young masters are watching you? Don't embarrass the Third Young Master!"

"Look at me?" Song Liyun suddenly realized, and chuckled, "Aunt Li, you're still trying to pull this on me, how ridiculous!"

She turned to look at Lin Qingyuan, who was closest to her: "Young Master Lin, would you like me to pour you some tea?"

Lin Qingyuan waved his hands repeatedly: "No, no!"

He sat down next to Zhao Tingduo and asked Song Liyun to stand beside him to pour him tea and wine... Never mind, he wanted to live a few more days.

Song Liyun shoved the copper kettle into Lin Qingyuan's arms: "Make way for me, I need to eat too!"

Lin Qingyuan jumped up as if his pants were on fire: "Sit down!"

Song Liyun sat down in Lin Qingyuan's seat without hesitation.

Beside them, Zhao Tinglei and Zhao Tingduo had stopped talking and were both looking over.

Zhao Tingduo's expression darkened, and she pulled Song Liyun aside, saying, "You haven't eaten yet?"

Song Liyun picked up a piece of food, took a bite, and then slowly said, "Do you know why you saw me eating when you came in? It was because I was hungry."

I've been starving since I went to bed last night. I only ate two dishes of snacks this morning, and I'm starving.

"Now I have to stand up and pour tea for you all!"
