Chapter 2: You should do some good deeds

Chapter 2: You should do some good deeds

The Wei family’s banquet ended only after Chunxi fell asleep.

Three months ago, Wei Lingze could barely stand. Now he seems to be moving normally, but his legs will become sore and swollen if he stands for too long.

After seeing off the guests, the smile on Wei Lingze's face disappeared and he became gloomy and terrifying.

When he returned to Lingfeng Courtyard and learned that Chunxi had returned home with the indenture, the aura around him became even more bloodthirsty and violent, and the servants in the courtyard were silent for a moment.

Xingzhou couldn't help but ask, "Master, do you want me to go and bring Chunxi back?"

Wei Lingze flicked the teacup beside him and said in a cold voice, "Let her go. She will come back naturally when she has had enough trouble."

After serving Chunxi wholeheartedly for three years, he didn't believe that Chunxi would leave like this.

It started raining in the second half of the night.

The late spring cold snap came so violently that it seemed like we were back to winter.

It was wet everywhere. Chunxi was too lazy to go out and stayed in bed most of the time.

But after two days, Wang became dissatisfied and urged her to work and earn money in a roundabout way, fearing that she would just sit at home and do nothing.

Chunxi's face turned cold. "In the past three years, I've taken home at least thirty taels of silver as monthly allowance. Did I spend it all in just two days?"

"What are you talking about? Of course we still have money at home, but we can't just sit there and eat up all the money."

"Since my family can't afford to support me, mother, you might as well marry me off. I can be lazy and eat well in my husband's family and won't bother you anymore."

Chunxi entered the Wei family at the age of ten. In two months, she would be nineteen and should have been married long ago. However, Wei Lingze could not leave her, and Wang Shi was reluctant to give her the increased monthly salary, so she did not arrange for her to get married.

Hearing Chunxi wanted to get married, Wang's expression froze slightly. "I don't mean to urge you to get married, but it's not good for you to lie in bed like this all day long."

Although Wang was afraid of getting into trouble, she did not give up completely. In case Wei Lingze regretted his decision, he would be willing to keep Chunxi as a concubine.

Even though it cannot be done in public, one does not have to worry about other people's feelings. If a child can be born, Chunxi will live longer than the legal wife, so she will eventually be able to get the status of a legitimate wife.

But if Wei Lingze couldn't bear to leave Chunxi, he would have arranged a way out for her long ago. Why would he wait until now?

Chunxi was too lazy to analyze the matter with Wang Shi, and simply said, "Mother knows it won't sound good if it gets out, so let's hurry up and find a matchmaker to arrange a marriage."

The spring rain lingered and lasted for ten days before stopping.

The weather cleared up, the cold immediately melted away, and warmth filled the air.

After dinner, Chunxi went out.

The cloths that Madam Wei rewarded her with were too good to be worn daily, so she planned to go to clothing stores and cloth shops to inquire about the prices so that she could sell them.

Ordinary shops don’t buy very good materials, so Chunxi can only go to the most prosperous places in the city.

Halfway through the journey, a team of luxurious carriages drove by, and Chunxi followed the crowd and retreated to the side of the street to avoid them.

The crowd was talking about it. It turned out that the young men and women from aristocratic families went out for an outing because the weather was good.

It is fun to gallop on horseback, admire flowers and catch butterflies, but the accompanying servants have to set up tents, build earthen stoves and prepare food, and they will be exhausted at the end of the day.

Chunxi sighed and felt that the spring scenery was not so beautiful anymore.

Just as he was thinking, a sudden voice came: "Huh? Isn't this the maidservant next to Brother Wei?"

Chunxi: “…”

I was careless because I didn't check the almanac before going out.

Looking up, she saw Wei Lingze and several young masters from aristocratic families riding horses passing by her.

After being reminded, several people stopped.

Wei Lingze glanced at Chunxi with a stern face, his eyes as sharp as a knife.

"My mother is kind and, considering her loyalty, she has returned her bond to her. She is no longer a servant of the Wei family."

Wei Lingze distanced himself from the matter, but the others showed no intention of leaving, so Chunxi had no choice but to step forward and pay their respects.

"I, Chunxi, have met several gentlemen."

"Miss, are you here to see Brother Wei?"

The person who was speaking was the second son of the Minister of Works. Chunxi didn't know his name, but had only heard Wei Lingze call him Ye Er.

Ye Er didn't know why he didn't get along with Wei Lingze. When Wei Lingze brought Chunxi to the banquet before, he was quite sarcastic to her. It was also he who recognized Chunxi just now.

It's really a fight between gods, and mortals suffer.

Chunxi complained in her heart, but said respectfully on the surface: "Replying to Master Ye, Madam Wei has given me a lot of cloth, but the material is too good, and my family dare not enjoy it. I just want to find a shop to sell these cloths for money, and I dare not pester Master Wei for more."

"You took good care of Brother Wei for three years, and the Wei family just gave you away with a few pieces of cloth?"

Ye Er raised his voice, and his intention to stir up trouble was obvious.

Chunxi said quickly, "Madam is so generous, she naturally gave me more than this. My family and I are grateful."

Regardless of whether Wei Lingze was present or not, Chunxi didn't dare to say a word that was detrimental to the Wei family.

Ye Er was a little unhappy that he hadn't achieved his goal. He changed the subject: "I can pay double the price for your cloth. Would you like to go on an outing with me?"

Without waiting for Chunxi's answer, Ye Er looked at Wei Lingze again: "Brother Wei, you shouldn't mind having more people, right?"

Wei Lingze was too lazy to pay attention to him, so he lightly stepped on his horse's belly and left first.

Ye Er didn't care. He smiled and stretched out his hand to Chunxi, motioning her to get on the horse.

Chunxi's throat was dry. "I am a commoner of low status. I am afraid I am not qualified to ride on the same horse with Master Ye."

"It's okay, I don't mind."

“…”

Ye Er, you should do some good deeds.

The outing location is in a valley east of the city. The valley is covered with green grass, wild flowers and a winding stream. The scenery is very pleasant.

Chunxi had no time to appreciate it.

Ye Er carried her horizontally on the horse's back all the way. She squatted on the ground and vomited in a panic. When she turned her head, she saw Wei Lingze standing not far away, helping a woman down from the carriage in a graceful manner.

The woman had a slim figure, and her long peach-pink brocade dress outlined her slender waist. Although she was wearing a veil, only a pair of watery almond eyes were exposed, but her gorgeous appearance could not be concealed.

The two of them standing together are really a perfect match, made in heaven.

Chunxi withdrew her gaze, wiped her mouth and prepared to stand up. Ye Er's voice reached her ears again: "Miss Chunxi is vomiting so violently, could it be that she is pregnant?"

Ye Er's voice was not loud, but what he said was so shocking that everyone present was attracted and pricked up their ears silently, waiting for what to say next.

Got it?

What's the matter?

"Master Ye... Ugh..."

As soon as Chunxi opened his mouth, he started vomiting at Ye Er again.

Unfortunately, he had vomited too much just now and there was nothing in his stomach, so he only vomited a little acid on Ye Er's shoes.

"Bitch! You're so brave!"

Ye Er shouted harshly, but he had no energy to deal with Chunxi. He hurriedly took off his shoes and threw them far away, then rushed back to the carriage to change clothes.

It’s so dirty, he needs to take a shower right away!!!

Chunxi patted her chest, finally feeling relieved. She raised her voice and said sincerely, "I'm sorry, Master Ye. I didn't mean to do that. Please be magnanimous and forgive me. If you hadn't insisted on bringing me here, I wouldn't have been thrown up."

There was a lot of noise here. As soon as Chunxi finished speaking, a maid came over and said, "There are spare clothes for my young lady in the carriage. Please come with me."
