Chapter 77: The Price of Truth
Qin Xue stood in the hospital's main control room, the screen in front of her showing surveillance footage from inside the hospital. Her eyes were fixed on the screen, searching for any possible clues.
She knew she was close to the core of the truth, but she also understood that the price of uncovering the truth might be very high.
Suddenly, the image on the screen changed, and a familiar figure appeared. It was the dean, with a strange smile on his face, as if he was expecting something.
Qin Xue's heartbeat quickened. She knew this was the final battle. She decided to face this challenge, no matter what the cost.
She walked out of the control room, through the dim corridor, and came to the dean's office. She pushed open the door and saw the dean sitting behind his desk, with that same smile on his face.
"Qin Xue, you are finally here." The dean said slowly.
Qin Xue looked at him coldly, "Do you think you can escape?"
The dean shook his head. "I'm not running away. I'm waiting. I know this day will come."
Qin Xue walked up to the dean, her eyes gleaming with determination. "Do you think your so-called truth can threaten me?"
The dean looked up at Qin Xue, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. "Qin Xue, don't you understand? This truth will change everything."
Qin Xue sneered, "I'm not afraid of change. What I fear is that those innocent lives will be trampled upon by crimes like yours."
The dean sighed, knowing that Qin Xue had seen through everything. He stood up and faced Qin Xue, still with that smile on his face.
"Qin Xue, are you ready?"
Qin Xue nodded, a document tightly clasped in her hand, a determined light flashing in her eyes. She knew that her battle had just begun.
Chapter 78: Deal in the Dark
Qin Xue stood at the bottom of the hospital, holding the key document tightly in her hand, her eyes determined. She knew that this would be the last link to uncover the secrets of the old hospital.
She walks through a dark corridor and arrives at a deserted operating room, where she is about to make a deal with a mysterious figure who is said to hold all the secrets of the old hospital.
The lights in the operating room were dim, and the air was filled with the faint smell of disinfectant. Qin Xue glanced around vigilantly and saw a dark figure sitting on a chair in the corner, as if waiting for something.
She walked over and sat on the chair opposite. The shadow slowly raised his head, revealing a pale face with a cunning glint in his eyes.
"Are you Qin Xue?" The black shadow's voice was hoarse and low.
Qin Xue nodded and looked at the other party warily. "You hold the secret of the old hospital, why do you want to trade with me?"
The shadow chuckled softly, "I hold not only secrets, but also lives. If you want to uncover the truth, you must pay the price."
Qin Xue's heartbeat quickened, but she didn't back down. "I'm willing to pay the price, as long as I can uncover the truth and let those innocent lives be redressed."
The shadow's eyes became complicated. He looked at Qin Xue, as if assessing her determination. Finally, he sighed and took out a box of CDs from his arms.
"These discs contain all the secrets of the old hospital. But you must agree to one condition."
Qin Xue clenched her hands and looked at the shadow with a determined gaze. "Tell me what you want. As long as I can do it, I will definitely agree."
The shadow gave a sly smile, "I want you to promise to let the dean go after you uncover the truth."
Qin Xue was stunned. She hadn't expected the shadow to propose such a condition. She knew that the dean had committed an unforgivable crime, but the truth behind him was even more shocking.
After some thought, Qin Xue finally nodded. "I promise you, as long as the truth comes out, I will make him pay the price he deserves."
The shadow smiled with satisfaction and handed the disc to Qin Xue. "Then we have a deal. I hope you can find the truth you seek."
Qin Xue took the disc and held it tightly in her hand. She knew that this would be the key to uncovering the secrets of the old hospital. She stood up and prepared to leave.
At this moment, the shadow suddenly called out to her. "Qin Xue, be careful. The road to uncovering the truth won't be smooth sailing."
Qin Xue glanced back at the shadow and nodded gently. She knew that this road was full of difficulties and dangers. But she had gone too far and could not turn back.
As she stepped out of the operating room, a shadowy voice whispered behind her: "The truth is often more cruel than you imagine."
Qin Xue's heart tightened, but she didn't stop. No matter how cruel the truth was, she would uncover it and seek justice for those innocent lives.
