Chapter 61 Reliable Brothers and Sisters

Chapter 61 Reliable Brothers and Sisters

Aiwass was stunned for a moment, and subconsciously reached out to touch the red powder remaining on Yulia's forehead.

He felt a scorching heat on his fingertips—just like when he touched a glass of freshly poured hot water, his fingers would subconsciously feel a burning pain.

The sweat that Julia shed has now turned into the fire essence exuded by the phantom demon "Rebellious Flame Butterfly" in her body!

Aiwass suddenly recalled that the day after the first warehouse explosion... that is, the day when Senior Haina came to his house, Yulia did not wake up until dusk in the afternoon and looked extremely weak.

And just now…it was clearly just a warehouse explosion, but Edward gave up on taking Aiwass home and immediately sent Sherlock away to deal with the matter alone. In the end, he returned earlier than Sherlock.

Aiwass immediately realized who was the "culprit" behind the two warehouse explosions.

From the very beginning, it wasn't a demonologist trying to summon a demon.

It’s because the “Butterfly of Rebellious Flame” in Yulia’s body has lost control!

The flames in her body leaked out uncontrollably, eventually causing the two warehouse explosions... and the fire essences collected in the warehouse were not imitation fire essences synthesized by alchemists, but traces left after the "Butterfly of Rebellious Flame" event!

“…Okay, it’s glued back together.”

Edward breathed a tired sigh of relief. "I'll leave the rest to you, Aiwass. I'll take a break and explain things to you later... You can help heal your sister first."

As he spoke, the invisible chains around Yulia dissipated. She fell, scalding hot, into Aiwas's arms. He was surprised to feel the unconscious girl's weight.

The cracks covering Yulia's skin no longer shone red, nor did they spew out terrifying flames and heat, but they hadn't fully healed yet. It looked like fresh cuts from a knife, slowly oozing blood.

Edward's lips were already dry from being roasted. After he sat down, he immediately poured himself a full glass of water. He drank it all and poured himself a second glass.

After finishing his second glass of water, he immediately closed his eyes and lay back on the sofa, his whole body stretched out, visibly weakened.

Aiwass also looked familiar. This was clearly a sign of nearly drained magic power.

He recognized clearly that the spell that sealed Yulia was not the spell learned by the law mage - because it did not have the mark of Avalon at all.

These transparent shackles are more like the soul shackles of the ancient Parthian Empire.

It was a restraining spell they used when capturing slaves or performing sacrifices, capable of directly binding souls and thus temporarily sealing the opponent's mana pool. It was by unleashing this spell with all his might that Edward forced the soon-to-hatched Flame-Butterfly back into the air.

Was this a spell he had mastered from Milton University… or was it taught to him by his adoptive father?

Doubts arose in Aiwass's mind, but he had no time to ask.

Yulia was only spared the fatal fate of being ripped out of her belly by the phantom demon, but her high fever still needed to be treated.

"Give me a clean towel and wet it with water."

Aiwass slid the wheelchair over to the bed and said quickly to Oswald, "Warm water is best."

"Okay, I'll be right there."

Oswald nodded and did it, while Aiwass frowned.

He removed Yulia's burnt and tattered pajamas and tucked her lower body into the quilt first. He held Yulia's upper body in his arms, let her head rest on his legs, and lay on the bed with her back facing up.

He extended his left hand and placed it steadily above Yulia's heart. He closed his eyes and visualized himself radiating light.

A brilliant light bloomed from Aiwas's palm, quickly burning and expelling the pain in Yulia's body.

Yulia became noticeably calmer. Her burned cheeks quickly began to fade, and her mumbling voice became quieter. But Aiwass's frown deepened.

Feeling his palms soaked with sweat, his expression became serious.

As he treated him, Aiwass could clearly feel a frantic, frantic heat flowing through his palms and into his body. It was like eating a spicy dried chili pepper, choking and causing a cough. The burning sensation spread from the depths of his throat to his entire esophagus. He could sense a tubular organ becoming more distinct in his senses.

At this moment, this "burning" feeling appeared in the palm of Aiwas' left hand, and quickly flowed along the palm towards his heart, forcibly opening up a burning channel in the middle of his left arm.

Aiwass didn't know what was going on, but he instinctively sensed the danger.

He released his grip before the heat could reach his heart.

By this time, Yulia's breathing had become steady. The scorching heat on her skin had almost dissipated, and the blood-soaked wound had healed.

But the heat did not dissipate immediately, but remained in Aiwass's left arm.

It felt painful and distended, like the swelling of swollen gums. His left arm was even redder than his right, and the temperature of each arm was different.

He frowned and didn't immediately take care of his left arm. Instead, he stuffed Yulia back into the quilt to preserve her body temperature and let her rest for a while.

Although this might make the quilt dirty with her sweat... but that is fire essence after all, and it can provide good warmth after drying.

"Towels are here."

At this moment - less than half a minute later, Oswald brought over a clean towel soaked in warm water.

He also handed over a basin of water and placed it on the shelf beside him.

Aiwas nodded and took it, carefully wiping the sweat off Yulia's body with the towel.

After just a few wipes, the originally pure white towel turned red, but the dark red did not look like blood, but rather like it had been used to wipe strawberry jam that had fallen on the table.

He handed the towel back to Oswald and motioned him to wash it.

After repeating this three times, he had finally wiped away almost all of the fire essence that had been released from her body. He even deliberately kept some and put it in his pocket.

Yulia's body temperature finally returned to normal, and she fell into a deep sleep with her head tilted on the pillow.

Without waiting for Aiwass's orders, Oswald had already brought a soft, warm blanket. He wrapped it around the old one and rolled the already sleeping Yulia into the new one. He then replaced the blanket and sheets that had been contaminated by the fire spirit.

"This quilt is obviously unusable—it's full of fire essence residue."

Aiwass breathed a sigh of relief, leaning slightly against his wheelchair as he explained softly, "It's just like this basin. Even drying it out is dangerous—even after drying up, if there's even a hint of fire essence left, it only needs a spark or a slightly higher temperature to burst into flames. Similarly, pouring it down the drain is unsafe."

"I understand, Master Aiwass," Oswald nodded, clearly very adept at handling the situation. "I'll find a place to burn them first."

After watching the old butler leave, Aiwas glanced at Yulia who was fast asleep, and then looked at his eldest brother Edward.

He asked in a deep voice: "What is going on?"

"You should know that Yulia is the 'Phantom Demon Egg', right?"

Edward pressed his forehead hard, took a deep breath, and replied in a tired voice, "Even if you didn't know it before, you should have guessed it after reading so many occult books.

"Yulia is already fifteen years old this year. Generally speaking, a phantom demon egg rarely survives past twelve... However, the Hypnos decoction my father bought can keep the phantom demon within her body in a deep sleep, and the blood-purifying potion can gradually extract the body fluids contaminated by the phantom demon's power.

"But as she ages, the suppressed power within her body grows stronger. Even a double dose of Hypnos Decoction is no longer enough to suppress the phantom demon, and increasing the dose could cause irreversible damage to her nerves. Even the slightest emotional fluctuation could trigger a leak of her power."

Having said that, Edward stretched out his hand and pressed hard on his temple, then opened his eyes and looked at Aiwass: "Come to think of it, this matter has something to do with you."

"...and me?" Aiwass opened his eyes wide in surprise.

"Yes. She was very worried about you because you were attacked and fell into a coma last week. She didn't sleep well that night and came to see you several times. The next morning she had a high fever."

Edward said in a deep voice: "Yulia had a feeling that she was about to lose control. But her father had not left yet, so Yulia immediately told her father about it.

"Father sent Mr. Oswald to take Yulia to a nearby, deserted seafood warehouse, where he allowed her to burn out as much energy as she could, releasing her overflowing energy. That warehouse was a subsidiary of our family, so there was no need to worry about the warehouse owner repeatedly requesting an investigation from the Inspectorate or hiring a private detective due to financial losses.

"Perhaps after her last outburst, her father forgot to re-seal her...and because you attended Princess Isabel's dinner today, or maybe you have to go to school tomorrow, or for some other reason, Yulia lost control again. I think it happened when Oswald was seeing you off.

"At that time, you and Mr. Oswald went to attend the Princess's dinner. I was invited by Sherlock to investigate a Lloyd's Quarter gang, and my father temporarily left Avalon. The other servants had never come into contact with the extraordinary. She didn't know who to ask for help, and she was afraid of causing trouble for us, so she decided to handle it herself.

"I guess she wanted to go to the warehouse by herself. After all, it's not far from home, and it only takes about fifteen minutes to walk there... But she didn't know that the place is still under martial law.

"She couldn't get to her destination, and she didn't know how to get outside. But she followed the road and started looking for an unmanned warehouse... In the end, she was lucky enough to run into an abandoned stone warehouse before losing consciousness."

"Yulia doesn't even know the way, and she actually dares to go out alone..."

Hearing Edward's words, Aiwass shook his head in fear. "Fortunately, we didn't run too far. We're still in White Queen. If we went to Lloyd's, it might have been dangerous."

"No, I think she actually has a pretty good memory. Last time, she was only carried there by Mr. Oswald, and she was still running a high fever and unconscious. This time, she was able to find the warehouse on her own with what little memory she had.

"I think she acted too decisively. If not, the mansion would have burned down by now. Many servants would have died, and her identity as a Phantom Egg might have been exposed. According to current law, Phantom Eggs are usually subject to euthanasia.

"From this perspective, Yulia might be well-suited for the Path of Balance or the Path of Wisdom. I think she should be praised rather than criticized."

Edward sighed. "But there's no point in saying that. Everything's fine now. On the bright side, this might be a good thing. Yulia has used the power of the phantom twice in a row, and it's almost exhausted. I've just used a secret method to re-strengthen the seal. As long as she takes the potion on time from now on, even if her emotions fluctuate, she won't lose control so easily."

it's all over.

Aiwass's eldest brother said this while lying on the sofa tiredly.

Even though his clothes looked a bit disheveled, half black and gray, and half torn, Edward's voice remained calm and steady, neither impatient nor anxious. "Don't worry, Aiwass. It's really too late today, and we've been delayed for too long... That's why I need you to use the 'illumination spell'. If it were daytime, I could call Bishop Mathers to come and take a look."

"Although the fire wasn't as intense as last time, I discovered it too late. I wasn't home that day—luckily, I happened to hear Mr. Oswald mention it this morning. So when I saw the fire, I immediately thought of Yulia, and was able to rush over immediately.

"But her burning lasted too long this time, causing her spiritual shell to crack and rot. If it can be suppressed in time next time, this won't happen again, and sealing it will be much easier."

This square-faced, serious-looking man, with a perpetual frown, spoke calmly and clearly in the voice of a reliable adult: "It's my fault this time. I forgot to remind my father to check the seal, and he left in such a hurry... This won't happen again.

"As for the remaining fire essence, you don't have to worry. Due to historical and political reasons, the Avalon royal family can only employ a few alchemists. The only scholar responsible for examining the dangerous alchemical products brought back by the Glass Island Supervisory Bureau is that one person."

"Who is it?" Aiwass asked.

"Dr. William Wayne Westcott. He currently teaches alchemy in the fifth department of the Royal Law University, the Department of Esoteric Studies. He also teaches anatomy in other departments. You might run into him at school. He's a good friend of Father's, and Father has already made arrangements... I'll go to school with you tomorrow, and I'll stop by to say hello to him."

Edward narrowed his eyes and said dangerously calmly, "I'm sure he'll give a different result after the test."

Then, he looked at Aiwass and comforted him, "Although my father is not here, I will come home every day from now on. If the Inspectorate is fine, I won't go out.

"Just go to school and study hard. Leave the housework to your big brother."
