Chapter 8

Chapter 8

The guests at several tables who were eating walked towards the source of the sound and found the stunned man standing at the kitchen door.

Maori Kogoro had never expected to encounter such a thing when he was having a meal with his wife and daughter. He reacted quickly and took out his ID: "Everyone, step back and don't disrupt the scene.

"I'll take a brief statement from everyone before the police arrive. I'm Detective Kogoro Mori from the First Investigation Division," the mustachioed man said seriously, his expression calming the panicked guests.

"Why, why did the master die? Who killed Master Wakita?" asked the chef who came to his senses.

"Judging from Chef Wakita's body temperature, body stiffness, and blurred pupils, Chef Wakita died within half an hour," said Kogoro Mori after performing a simple autopsy.

Chef Wakita was lying on the ground with his chest completely pierced by a knife, his mouth wide open, and he seemed to have died without reacting to what had happened.

Maori Kogoro's sharp eyes swept over the people in the room whose expressions gradually changed one by one, and he took a deep breath: "Since there have been no new guests in the past half hour, it means that the murderer is among us."

As soon as these words were spoken, the customers' expressions changed.

Kogoro Mouri couldn't help but let his gaze linger on the calmest couple in the crowd, and frowned.

"Hey, don't look at me like that. I was just released on bail from the police station because of you, a police officer with poor reasoning." Zenyuan Shen'er yawned and looked speechless.

Kogoro Mouri trusts his intuition very much. As a detective, his intuition tells him that the young man with a scar on the corner of his mouth is definitely not a good person.

But Kogoro Mouri remembered very clearly that this man had never come near the kitchen since he first entered the store.

The office worker, who was working hard for the next seven days, noticed a fiery and scrutinizing gaze resting on her: "Miss, you are too calm in the face of this situation."

"I worked overtime until seven o'clock all night, and then hurriedly found a lawyer to bail my friend out of the police station, and I've been busy until now." Sugawara Yoshiyo showed a tired expression: "I just don't have the energy to scream."

Yoshiyo Sugawara never expected that the chef would die before she could even eat the eel rice.

Zenin Jiner was very dissatisfied with the lousy detective's behavior of directing his fire at Sugawara Yoshiyo: "If I remember correctly, you should have gone to the bathroom within half an hour, Detective."

The bathroom is right across from the kitchen. Zen Yuan didn't even need to say anything about the subtext of this sentence, as everyone's faces changed.

"In that case, why don't we reconstruct the incident before the police arrive, so that we can know who the criminal is." said Eri Kisaki.

Whether the police came or not, there was no way for everyone to leave.

Everyone looked at each other, and in the end, most people agreed. Zenyuan Shener, who didn't react, couldn't help but rub his forehead: "In this situation, you still have the mood to reason."

Yoshiyo Sugawara, the god of death whose original resident area was Beika, quietly expressed her agreement. She really didn't know why the culture of reasoning was so popular in Beika Town.

"Let's start." Sugawara Yoshiyo looked at the eel that was grilled to perfection and sighed.

Another chef noticed Sugawara Yoshiyo's look and rubbed his head: "I'm sorry, sir. I'll make you some eel rice after the police arrive."

"Let's talk about it when we have a chance." Sugawara Yoshiyo replied, just hoping it would be over quickly.

"Chef Wakita was killed in the kitchen, so the murderer must have been someone who had the chance to get close to the kitchen within half an hour," said Eri Kisaki, scanning the crowd.

"I didn't go to the bathroom, but I went to get some udon noodles 25 minutes ago. Chef Wakita was fine then," said Chef Koharu, who took orders. "It was 1:25 p.m., and I was standing at the front counter the rest of the time."

"I didn't go to the bathroom. I said that before I got up just to avoid worrying my wife. Actually, I went to the back door to smoke." Maori Kogoro scratched his head embarrassedly and said, "I smoked outside for ten minutes and walked out the back door at 1:20."

"I used the bathroom and stayed there for ten minutes." Sugawara Yoshiyo raised her hand. "I entered the bathroom around 1:30 in the afternoon."

Because Sugawara Yoshiyo was sitting with her back to the kitchen, she didn't know where Mouri Kogoro had gone, and only got up after the person came back.

"So according to time, you are the last person to enter the back area." Everyone's eyes were on Sugawara Yoshiyo.

Sugawara Yoshiyo sighed. She decided that from now on, there would be a crappy police officer who would describe this little mustache: "So, sir, I am the most suspected criminal now, right?"

"In terms of time, you are the closest person." said Kogoro Mouri.

"But what's the motive? Is it because the chef is too slow in making the eel rice?" Sugawara Yoshiyo couldn't help but say.

"First of all, the knife used as the murder weapon was used for cooking. There is grease on it, so it was probably from the table. There are traces of wiping on the handle of the knife, so it is very likely that the murderer wiped it after committing the crime in the heat of the moment," said Kogoro Mouri.

Sugawara Yoshiyo couldn't help but show a surprised expression on her face. This police officer's observation skills were not bad enough to notice this, but why did he draw a completely incorrect conclusion?

"You are wrong. Jia Shisang is the least likely to be the murderer among the three suspects." Chanyuan Shen'er said. He wanted to clear Jia Shi's name and was ready to defeat him in the area where the mustache boy was good at.

"Why? Because she is a woman. But the knife was inserted from behind, which means it was an attack from behind. Doesn't this point more towards the weaker woman?" asked the blond-haired man.

"Because of the angle at which the knife was inserted." Zenin Jiner looked at the wound on Wakita's back. Although the blood was spread out, he could still see some details clearly.

"The angle at which the knife entered Chef Wakita's body. Although the knife may have entered twice because the chef fell with his head tilted back, we can tell from the wound that the knife entered downwards at this angle." Zenyuan Jiner made a stroke.

Amidst everyone's expressions, some understanding, some bewildered, Zenin Jiner explained, "This angle indicates the killer's height is at least above Chef Wakita's heart level."

Among the three suspects, only the female Sugawara Yoshiyo is the shortest, at a standard height of 1.5 meters.

"It really wasn't me. I just went to get some udon noodles and then I was at the front desk the whole time. If I hadn't opened the door and urged for the food just now, I wouldn't know what happened." Chef Gu Chun panicked.

The silent and unsuspecting table consisted of a father and son. The blond man with a headband said, "After the chef delivered the udon, I went to the sushi counter to add kimchi. I could see the chef grilling the eel from the window."

A look of relief appeared on Chef Gu Chun's face. "Now I can prove my innocence!"

"The self-service area for kimchi is on the left side of the sushi preparation table, which means you are at least separated by two layers of curved glass. Are you sure you can see it clearly?" asked Zenyuan Shener.

The sushi making table is more than one meter away from the kitchen at the back.

"Hey, what do you mean? My eyesight has always been good and I'm not nearsighted at all. I just saw the chef standing there with his head down grilling eels." said the blond man.

Chanyuan Shener stretched his neck when he heard this, and after hearing this, he knew what was going on: "I already know who the murderer is."

Zenin Jiner looked at Maori Kogoro, whose expression was obvious and he just realized what was happening, and looked at the chef: "You are the murderer, stop pretending."

"Hey, hey, what are you talking about? Why is it me? The chef was still alive when I took the udon away." The chef became visibly panicked.

"Logically speaking, grilling eel shouldn't be that slow." Maori Kogoro checked the charcoal grill. "Sure enough, there are signs that the wind speed has been changed. It must be to add an extension device."

"You used a thread similar to silk to secure Chef Wakita, who you were about to kill, in front of the oven. Then, as the fire grew higher, the silk burned to ashes, and the chef naturally leaned back.

If anyone discovers this again at this time, you can completely eliminate your suspicion, Chef Gu Chun." Chanyuan Shen'er said.

"And he can't be a bad policeman," said Sugawara Yoshiyo.

"Hey, why are you shouting like that too?" Kogoro Mouri said after being stunned for a moment.

"Although he tried to cover it up, his right hand kept moving unnaturally, probably because he was injured at work. And judging from the angle of the knife insertion, the criminal used his right hand," said Yoshiyo Sugawara.

The prisoner looked at everyone, turned around and ran out. He opened the wooden door and bumped into the sheriff with a big belly.

"The criminal was caught so quickly, you really deserve to be my brother Mori." said Inspector Megure.

Kogoro Mouri clicked his tongue and said, "This case was not solved by me." He raised his head and saw a man and a woman walking away leisurely after taking their statements.

Sugawara Yoshiyo was at a loss whether to laugh or cry while holding a stack of rice flower business coupons that she had hurriedly received as compensation. Although the meal was free, it was really bad luck to encounter such a thing.

New restaurant, big portions of eel rice.

Sugawara Yoshiyo finally got what she wanted to say: "Shinji-kun, if you want to work temporarily, would you be willing to be hired as my assistant?"

Zenyuan Shener opened his chopsticks and said, "Of course, but I have to say I've never forged iron before."

"It's not about making kitchenware." Sugawara Yoshiyo spun her teacup. "Actually, I work part-time as a detective. I'm currently working on an investigation and would like to have Shinji-kun assist me."

Detective?

Zenin Jiner looked at the woman in front of him and felt his curiosity was completely piqued. He had no idea that this guy's side job was actually a detective. "Is it the kind of thing you see on TV where they film clues of the president cheating on a wealthy woman?"

"My business scope no longer focuses on capturing men and women having affairs. My focus is on helping find people and investigating incidents." Sugawara Yoshiyo said, "There will be certain risks. I am willing to pay Jiner-kun a salary according to the market price or use forged weapons as a substitute.

Jia Shisang was somewhat reserved, and Chanyuan Shener, realizing this, became even more curious: "Is there anything I can help with?"

"This mission was entrusted by a lady who hopes that we can investigate the truth behind her child's suicide," said Yoshiyo Sugawara.

Zenyuan Shener thought this kind of investigation was meaningless, but because he could make money, he cheered up and said, "How can we investigate this?"

"After that child committed suicide, three similar incidents occurred nearby," said Yoshiyo Sugawara.

She wants to investigate this matter thoroughly and retrieve the children's souls.
