All coincidences are just careful planning9

Bai Yan almost hit the nail on the head.

Having tasted the sweetness of love, how could Bai Yan not see through Chrisel's love hidden behind his excuses?

"You know clearly whether that 'accident' that night was just a rip off of the paper you were deceiving yourself."

As a friend, that's all I can say.

Window paper...Christle closed her eyes and leaned back in her chair tiredly.

Many images emerged uncontrollably before my eyes. They were not the beauty and loss of control of that night, but fragments from a longer time and more subtle moments:

When Yun Wushu had a fever as a child, he curled up in his arms like a little stove, his little hands tightly grasping his clothes, as if he was the only drifting wood.

At that time, his heart was filled with heartache, and he wished he could bear all the pain for him.

It was when I built that garden for him where it was spring all year round, and when I saw the faint light flash in his eyes when he first stepped in, I felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction in my heart.

It was the inexplicable discomfort and wariness she felt when she saw him talking to a certain young nobleman for a while, with the other person's eyes full of admiration...

These images came one after another, so clear.

There's no label of "responsibility," no heaviness of "entrustment," only a natural, deep-seated concern and... a desire to protect. A near-instinct possessiveness that won't allow others to interfere.

Bai Yan was right. Taking care of Yunwushu had long become a part of his life, as natural as breathing.

The accident that night was like a rude key that opened a treasure chest that had long existed deep in his heart but had been deliberately ignored by him and wrapped in layers of "responsibility" and "protection".

What was in the box was not guilt, but... an emotion that he had never dared to delve into, nor allowed himself to face.

like?

This word exploded like thunder in his chaotic mind. Chrisel opened his eyes suddenly, his blue eyes filled with uncertainty and great shock.

He loves books? Not with the care one gives to an object of responsibility, not with the pity one gives to a fragile treasure, but with love?

This realization was so overwhelming that it left him feeling lost and even a bit absurd and panicked. He subconsciously looked towards the tightly closed door of the inner room, as if he could see through it and see the pale, fragile figure within.

*

In the inner room, Yunwushu was not asleep.

Bai Yan's voice was not loud, but it was loud enough for him to hear clearly. He lay on his side on the wide bed, his back facing the door. His body seemed relaxed under the thin blanket, but in fact, every nerve was tense.

He heard Chrisel's long silence and the subtle, struggling sigh.

Bai Yan's words shook the wall of "responsibility" in Chrisel's heart more powerfully than any guidance he had expected.

Yunwushu knew that now was the time.

It takes one more gentle push to make the crumbling wall collapse completely.

He let out a very light, suppressed sob, the sound was broken, and with the helplessness of waking up from a nightmare, it was particularly clear in the silent room.

Then, he began to curl up unconsciously and painfully, and the thin blanket slipped off, revealing his scarred shoulders and neck, which looked even more shocking in the dim light.

The door opened almost immediately.

Krystle's tall figure appeared at the door, looking anxious and worried.

Seeing Wu Shu's curled up and trembling back, his heart seemed to be tightened.

He quickly walked to the bedside, knelt on one knee, and said in a voice that was so gentle and urgent that he didn't even realize it: "Shushu? What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"

Yun Wushu didn't turn around, but buried his face deeper into the pillow, his shoulders slightly shaking, and he made a suppressed, animal-like whimper.

Chriselle's heart softened instantly.

She stretched out her hand, wanting to touch him, but stopped abruptly just before touching the bruised skin, her fingertips curled up with restraint and pain.

"Don't be afraid... I'm here." Chrisel's voice was low and hoarse, full of soothing power. He no longer hesitated, and carefully embraced Yunwushu's trembling body through the thin blanket, as if guarding a lost treasure.

Chrisel's embrace was warm and powerful, carrying the familiar scent of cedar, enveloping Yunwushu completely.

Yunwushu seemed to have found support. His body was no longer so stiff, but it was still trembling slightly.

He tilted his head slightly, revealing a red, swollen, and moist eye with tears hanging on his long eyelashes. The look he gave Chrisel was full of vulnerability and... an indescribable dependence.

"Chriselle..." His voice was heavily nasal, as weak as a sigh, "...don't go..." He subconsciously grabbed Chriselle's wrists that were wrapped around him, his fingertips cold.

This call, this fragile yet completely dependent posture, was like a key, accurately inserted into the lock of Chrisel's heart that had just been pried open by Bai Yan.

What surged up in that instant was an overwhelming pity, the pain of his heart being squeezed, a desire to protect and possess him so strong it threatened to burst through his chest! He wanted to hold him tightly in his arms, erase all his fear and pain, use his body warmth to dispel the coldness in him, and protect him forever, never letting anyone hurt him again!

Chrisel's body shook violently, and the arms around Yunwushu tightened uncontrollably, but she relaxed her grip instantly when she realized that she might hurt him.

He lowered his head and stared deeply at Yun Wushu's pale and fragile face. His amber eyes, which were always filled with alienation and coldness, were now like broken glass, reflecting only his shadow.

Something exploded deep in Chriselle's heart, and the fog dissipated, revealing the truest and most naked emotions.
