Floating to your side (8)
This ghost baby’s last memory of its enemy was actually a wolf?
"Wolf, did this child die accidentally in the wolf's mouth?" Shen Tang was a little unbelievable. Shouldn't such a young child stay with his mother normally? Even if he died, it shouldn't be such a terrible way to die.
Shen Tang's eyes were unconsciously filled with astonishment. She looked at Wen Ting again, waiting for him to give her a reasonable explanation. If she said that the child died accidentally, she might believe it, but being bitten to death by a wolf was really unexpected. If it wasn't in the wild mountains, there shouldn't be any wolves.
Wen Ting stared at the ghost baby, his beautiful eyes fixed on it. His dark pupils seemed to be looking at something through the ghost baby's eye sockets which were full of pupils. After a while, he shook his head.
"Whether it was a wolf or not, I'm afraid I'll have to probe the kid's memory to find out. There are all kinds of strange things in this world. If someone really attacked a baby, it's not impossible."
Wen Ting thought carefully about the era in which he lived. If he had met a cruel mistress, immersing the baby in water would have been a small matter. It was also entirely possible that the baby would be thrown into a mass grave and taken away by wild wolves.
He moved slowly, and his slender white fingertips slowly moved from the forehead of the little ghost baby to its eyes. The strong murderous aura that had originally gathered behind the ghost baby suddenly rushed towards Wen Ting's position, shocking Shen Tang to look at him with his eyes slightly widened.
The murderous aura quickly flowed into the boy's forehead, freezing him in place. His eyebrows were twisted into a river shape above his closed eyes. Shen Tang subconsciously reached out to grab Wen Ting, but his fingers went straight through his body.
"Wen Ting, are you okay?" She looked at the motionless boy, wondering if he had been overwhelmed by the evil spirit. However, the moment she was about to retract her hand, Wen Ting's eyes finally opened again. For a moment, his eye sockets were filled with pupils like a ghost baby, but soon returned to normal.
Wen Ting slowly withdrew his hand, but his eyes when he looked at the ghost baby again were filled with pity.
Seeing this, Shen Tang immediately asked, "Did you see anything?"
The young man walked to the table originally used for worshipping statues in the ancient temple, lifted up his long legs and sat on it, and began to talk about what he had just seen.
"It's not so easy to solve the problem of this little brat. It saw a wolf before it died, but it was not killed by the beast," Wen Ting said slowly. "It didn't die as early as me, probably only a few decades ago. If you really want to help it reincarnate, you'll have to go to this place."
After Wen Ting finished speaking, she retracted her long legs, walked to Shen Tang's side, took the pen from her easel, and wrote a few big words on the white paper that had been replaced.
"Gushi Village?" Shen Tang read out loud the three big words that appeared out of thin air on the drawing paper, and then moved away from the drawing paper with a slightly puzzled look. If she remembered correctly, this village seemed to be a village that one would pass by when taking the urban bus from the ancient temple in front of them. Could it be that the place where the ghost baby had the accident was there?
That's not too far from here, Shen Tang thought, and picked up the white paper with the words on it and looked at it for a while.
"Is the biological mother of this child from this village?" She ran her fingers slowly across the paper. "Can you see anything else?"
Wen Ting shook his head: "Sir, although I am dead, I am not a god, so how can I know everything? You have to find out how this ghost baby died. I don't have the time to do that..."
The boy sat back on the table with his hands clasped over his chest and complained, feeling a faint burning gaze on his back.
"If you hadn't told me, I would have almost forgotten it." Shen Tang's eyebrows slightly curved, "When I return this time, I have to take you back to Liu Ling."
Wen Ting:!
He doesn't want to be with that woman!
Wen Ting coughed lightly and smiled with his handsome face. "Tangtang, you see how people should be grateful for what they have done for them, right? I have told you what you wanted to know. Couldn't you have sent me to that woman named Liu Ling? I have nothing to do with her. You don't want me to acknowledge her kindness in digging me out of the ground in this way."
Wen Ting kept talking, wishing he could list 800 reasons for Shen Tang why he couldn't go with the heroine. But Shen Tang didn't want to cause trouble for himself. He wanted the plot to develop normally, and not wait for a bug to appear and he couldn't even fix it. Shen Tang thought of his experience in the previous worlds where he was entangled in a dog-skin plaster for his whole life, and he almost reached out to support his forehead out of habit.
"Don't tell me these reasons. I wasn't the one who got you out," Shen Tangqing replied coldly. Then, without even glancing at Wen Ting, he walked straight to the gate of the ancient temple with the ghost baby on his back.
"Don't worry, I will find a way to help you reincarnate," Shen Tang whispered to comfort the ghost baby behind him, and then looked at the sky outside. The heavy rain that had been pouring down before had suddenly shown signs of slowing down, which was exactly what Shen Tang wanted.
If the rain could stop soon, she wouldn't have to be trapped in this temple and could go out with Wen Ting's possessed object and the ghost baby.
Wen Ting stayed behind Shen Tang, and although he still looked at her like a little resentful husband, he obviously had no intention of rejecting Shen Tang anymore. He finally found someone who could see him, and if he really chased the person away, he didn't know how many years he would have to wait before he was discovered.
Rather than being captured by some country sorcerer, he might as well follow the little girl's instructions and go home.
He still didn't believe it. He was such a good ghost. When he was alive, he helped an old man with a broken leg back home and rescued a drowning person. Still, he couldn't impress this family!
Shen Tang was completely unaware that Ah Piao, the passionate man behind her, had regained his fighting spirit and was waiting to show off his skills to her when they returned. She said nothing, just staring at the heavy rain outside.
"Mu Tang, right?" Wen Ting called Shen Tang's name, but did not call him back at first. Shen Tang was stunned for a moment before turning around and looking at Wen Ting slowly.
She was used to being called by a nickname, and she was stunned at first when Wen Ting called her by her full name.
"What is it?"
Wen Ting looked at her with some curiosity: "Why do you have to help this ghost baby reincarnate? I can't reincarnate either, why don't you help me?"
Shen Tang was silent, screaming silently in her heart. Of course she had to help. If she didn't help, how could the hero and heroine fall in love with each other if the heroine couldn't see Ah Piao!
However, the girl remained silent for a long time before blurting out, "Maybe I have a connection with it?"
The young man was stunned. Instead of looking dissatisfied, his expression changed from weird to a strange...enthusiasm?
"I understand. I never thought that you, a little girl, might look young, but you actually have a good heart. I understand that you must want to do some good deeds to accumulate merit for yourself. I understand that I did the same when I was alive! Every person who can be saved is a good person!"
Shen Tang slapped her head as she watched the topic gradually develop in a strange direction. Really, she couldn't forget the innocent and kind character of the male protagonist when he was still a human.
Wen Ting was still immersed in the good things he had done while alive. Although he was still a scholar, he had learned real kung fu and had saved many good people.
"According to what you are saying now, isn't it just some core values?" After staying in the temple for an unknown amount of time, when Wen Ting was about to start nagging like an old monk again, the expression on Shen Tang's face finally relaxed.
"Oh, the rain has finally stopped. Let's get out of this ancient temple as soon as possible!" Shen Tanghe rushed out of the ancient temple with her painting supplies and the ghost baby on her back as if she had seen a life-saving straw. She then stuffed Wen Ting's possessed object diagonally into her trouser pocket.
Finally, she could leave the ancient temple. If she stayed any longer, she would probably be overwhelmed by the hero's voice.
The rain outside had stopped, but the grass in the mountains was still wet. Even though Shen Tang came out in a hurry, he didn't dare take too big steps for fear of stepping on the loose mud and falling.
Shen Tang walked out of the temple for a long time, and then the red-dressed woman in the temple, who was thinking back to the boy's passionate and righteous speech, carefully reminded the boy who was talking happily, "Well, the girl has already gone far away, why don't you go over?"
Wen Ting paused, his head immediately turned towards the gate of the ancient temple, and then he ran hurriedly in the direction where Shen Tang left.
"No, you guys should wait for me, sir, I haven't caught up yet!"
As the female ghost watched the evil spirit drift away, she finally relaxed. The two gods in the ancient temple had finally been sent away. The evil spirit was really frightening her to death. Fortunately, she still had the painting left by the little girl.
Just as the woman in red was happily floating to the edge of the drawing paper, a shadow quietly moved to the foot of the altar and asked in a tiny voice.
"Are they gone yet?"
The female piao was so frightened when she saw an old piao crawling to the foot of the table that she almost screamed again. But when she saw the fork in the old piao's hand, she pouted her lips and said, "You want to see them? It's a pity that you came too late. I'm afraid they will never come back to this ancient temple again."
Lao Piao slowly raised his head, revealing his wrinkled old face and smiled strangely, "In my opinion, that may not be the case."

Shen Tang walked for a long time with her painting supplies before returning to the place where the group had camped. She looked at the tent that was wet by the rain and carefully poked her head in to take a look. The things inside were already soaked. To be more precise, all her belongings except the painting supplies were already soaked. Liu Ling's things were not to be found either, and it was estimated that they had been moved away.
"See, didn't I tell you that your friend is not a good person? He took away all his own things and only left your things."
Wen Ting opened his mouth softly, but before he could say anything else, Shen Tang heard the sound of a horn coming from not far away.
Is someone coming?
