Chapter 25 Chapter 25 Come over with me and say hello?
25. Bowling Alley
Unable to find Chen Rong or Lu Zhao, it was boring to go out alone, so Jiang Nian started playing games again. Because he played too aggressively, he was punished by his brother again.
Jiang Nian started watching TV to kill time. He happened to see a variety show called Food Competition and was completely drawn in. He watched it with great interest and picked out a few dishes that interested him and imitated them.
The dishes he chose required extremely high skills, but he was just a layman who could barely cook the dishes and make them eatable, so it was really a challenge to do all of them.
The chef stood by, trembling with fear, afraid that the Jiang family's precious young master would be cut or burned. After a few days, the chef became haggard.
Lan Xin and her husband returned home for several days and ate everything Jiang Nian cooked. The first meal was fine, and Lan Xin praised Jiang Nian's cooking skills repeatedly. But after a few days of eating it continuously, she felt a little tired.
The food Jiang Nian served was edible and tasted okay, but Lan Xin and her husband had been accustomed to the cooking of five-star chefs for many years. Even if they favored their youngest son, they couldn't handle it after a few days.
Jiang Nian was particularly determined to learn these dishes, cooking the same exact dishes for several days in a row. Lan Xin and her husband were truly filled with joy just by looking at them.
Lan Xin felt that this couldn't go on and she had to find something for Jiang Nian to do. So the next day, Lan Xin asked Jiang Nian to go out and have a look instead of staying at home all the time and taking away the chef's job.
"Your doctor says your condition is improving. Although you can't work a nine-to-five job like your older brother, it's still okay to go out. Don't stay home all the time," Lan Xin said. "The weather is so nice now, the temperature is just right, go out and have some fun."
Jiang Nian cooked for a few days, and he saw his parents' reactions. He gradually lost interest. If he didn't cook, what else could he do?
He took an orange from the fruit bowl, peeled it, gave half to his mother, and tore off a slice for himself and put it in his mouth.
The sweet and sour juice filled his mouth. Jiang Nian narrowed his eyes, feeling a little better. He muttered, "It's a bit boring to go shopping alone."
Lan Xin showed a look of understanding. Jiang Nian only had Chen Rong as a friend. Chen Rong was busy with work and really didn't have time to accompany Jiang Nian. So she said, "You should have told me earlier. Mom would have found someone to play with you."
Lan Xin quickly made an appointment with the people, all of whom were good friends she grew up with.
Jiang Nian knew every one of them. When he was a child, these people would often come to his home to accompany his mother who was sad about his health condition, and would also bring him small gifts.
Now that he has grown up, his aunts all have their own families and children, and some have grandchildren so they don't have as much time, but when they meet his mother at a banquet, they will still ask about his situation with concern.
When they met today, these aunts all brought him gifts.
Lan Xin's good sisters all knew that Jiang Nian's health had always been a concern for Lan Xin. Now that Jiang Nian's condition was getting better and better, they were all happy for Lan Xin.
Jiang Nian was grateful for these people's kindness. He was sweet-mouthed and good at talking, so he called them "Auntie" one by one and made them smile.
It was Jiang Nian's first time at the bowling alley. He and his mother were both wearing white sportswear, which Lan Xin called parent-child outfits.
Jiang Nian laughed: "What parent-child outfit? Mom, I'm already grown up, not a little kid anymore."
"No matter how old he is, he is still his mother's baby." Lan Xin said with a loving face.
Jiang Nian said helplessly and movedly, "Yes, yes, whatever you say is what it is."
Perhaps middle-aged women always have similar hobbies. Even Lan Xin and her friends who come from wealthy families are no exception. The first thing they do when they get together is taking pictures.
Jiang Nian was even pulled by these aunts to take countless photos, and his smiling face became stiff.
The sisters hadn't gathered for a long time. They played and chatted together, and the atmosphere was very lively.
Seeing his mother happy, Jiang Nian's mouth curled up. He watched for a while and then got up to go to the bathroom.
It was ten in the afternoon, a day off for work, and the bowling alley was bustling with activity, with people standing in front of the lanes. Jiang Nian wiped his hands and glanced up, spotting a familiar figure in the crowd in the distance.
It’s Chen Rong.
Chen Rong is here, then...
Jiang Nian subconsciously looked around Chen Rong, and sure enough, he saw Lu Zhao sitting in the booth behind him. There were a few other people beside him, who must be their friends.
Seeing friends in a strange place should be a joy, but Jiang Nian's heart was filled with alarm. He had been cooped up at home for so many days, and he didn't expect to run into Chen Rong and Lu Zhao the moment he stepped out.
He must not be seen by them, he refuses to be a light bulb!
Although there were many people around Shen Rong and Lu Zhao, they were chatting and laughing, which did not affect the interaction between Lu Zhao and Shen Rong at all.
If he went over, Jiang Nian could imagine that one of Shen Rong and Lu Zhao would definitely focus all their attention on him, and then the two of them would not even have time to talk.
Jiang Nian was just thinking about it when Lu Zhao, sitting in the booth, suddenly turned his head and looked over, perhaps sensing something. Jiang Nian was so frightened that he quickly lowered his head, using the crowd's cover to reduce his presence.
Fortunately, there were enough people at the scene, and Lu Zhao glanced at the crowd and then looked away.
Jiang Nian breathed a sigh of relief, quickly returned to his seat, and sat quietly.
**
On the other side, Lu Zhao sat in a booth, absentmindedly fiddling with his phone.
Today is a rare day off, and old classmates who I haven’t seen for a long time made an appointment to hang out together, and Lu Zhao came.
The bowling alley was bustling with people mostly young. Lu Zhao's first thought was that Jiang Nian would also like it.
After returning from the island, Lu Zhao hadn't seen Jiang Nian since then. The longing was mild, not overwhelming, but the feeling was not pleasant either.
Lu Zhao clicked on Jiang Nian's profile picture. The chat history between the two was still stuck a few days ago. Jiang Nian wished him and Shen Rong a good time. Jiang Nian's circle of friends had not been updated. From what Shen Rong said, Jiang Nian did not take the initiative to contact him.
Lu Zhao now had no idea what Jiang Nian was doing, which made him feel a little bad.
Suddenly he felt a sense of being watched, and when he turned around he saw only a dense crowd of people. He quickly looked away, losing interest.
Soon, a young man in black sportswear strode over and apologized repeatedly: "Sorry, I'm late."
The friends exchanged pleasantries, and the visitor sat down and drank half a glass of water. He said to Chen Rong, who was standing by the fairway, "Oh, by the way, I saw Mr. Lan from Shengyun Group when I came here just now."
Shengyun Group is Jiang Nian’s mother’s company. Shen Rong turned around and said, “Really? Auntie might be here to relax.”
The man continued, "I saw there was a boy next to her. He's your childhood friend. His name is Jiang Nian, right?"
Lu Zhaoben's heart moved slightly when he heard Lan Xin's name, but he didn't react much. Now when he heard Jiang Nian's name, he immediately looked over.
Chen Rong was also a little surprised. He looked in the direction the young man came from and said, "Jiang Nian is here too?"
The man said, "I'm not sure. I've never met her in person. I've only seen her photo on your phone. She has fair skin, round eyes, and a pretty, sweet smile."
Shen Rong seemed to be amused by his description and nodded, "That's probably him. I'll go over and take a look."
He took two steps, then thought of something and turned to look at Lu Zhao with a mischievous smile in his eyes, as if he had seen Lu Zhao's suppressed impatience. "Mr. Lu, come with me to say hello?"
