Chapter 13 Madman, madman!
A thin earthen wall could not cover up any sound. Su Wanwan was sitting at the door picking vegetables and heard everything the two people said clearly.
She gritted her teeth and was secretly angry. When did she beat or scold Pei Changfeng? She was clearly protecting him as if he were her own apple.
Su Wanwan thought angrily, I really don’t know who spread these groundless words, isn’t it obvious that this will hurt their relationship?
She pricked up her ears and continued to listen.
Pei Changfeng was obviously silent for a moment, "Who did you hear that from, Brother Chen?"
Thinking of Zhou Chanyue's frightened look, Chen Liang smiled awkwardly and continued to persuade Pei Changfeng, "Although family disgrace should not be made public, nothing is more important than your own life. You are sick now. If she really wants to do something to you, you will have nowhere to cry."
As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of a chair being kicked over was heard outside the house, followed by the sound of Su Wanwan chopping vegetables, each sound getting louder than the last.
Chen Liang shuddered. "This woman is so unreasonable. Did we offend her by talking in the house? Or has she always been so moody?"
Pei Changfeng explained helplessly, "Actually, Miss Su treats me very well, Brother Chen, don't worry."
"Girl?" Chen Liang didn't understand what tricks the couple were playing, nor did he think too much. He continued to want to take Pei Changfeng away. "Come with me, live with me and study with me. My parents will definitely not object."
This classmate was too naive and he would never be able to figure out why Pei Changfeng had fallen into such a situation.
Pei Changfeng thanked him for his kindness and then rejected him.
"If Brother Chen really wants to help me, then please help me pick up the things that were left in the academy."
"I have packed it for you a long time ago, otherwise it would have been taken away long ago," Chen Liang said with a frown, "Are you really not going back to the academy? Are you going to study at home?"
"Brother Chen, my leg is lame, so I can't take the exam," Pei Changfeng smiled miserably, "Brother Chen, please pack up your things, but I just want to sell them to supplement my family income."
"Sold it?" Chen Liang couldn't believe it. "I don't believe it, you, anyway, I don't believe it!"
He was good friends with Pei Changfeng, so he naturally knew how difficult it was for Pei Changfeng to get to where he was today. Although the academy in the town was not as good as that in the provincial capital, all the students there were well-known figures. Those with a little background at home would invite famous scholars to teach them privately and predict the questions.
Only Pei Changfeng, who came from an ordinary family, relied on his intelligence and diligence to rank first in the academy for five consecutive years. Chen Liang had almost never seen him slack off for a single day.
The autumn examination is coming soon, and Pei Changfeng says he wants to give up and sell the book. How can Chen Liang believe him?
"There is always a way to cure it. Didn't someone in our academy break his leg last year, and he was cured?"
Pei Changfeng said nothing, but rolled up his trouser legs to show him his twisted and deformed leg bones, as if mocking himself, "Can such a leg be saved?"
"How could it be so..." Chen Liang's lips trembled, "How could it be so serious?"
Pei Changfeng lowered his eyes and smiled miserably, "It's useless. It's useless no matter what I do."
When Chen Liang came out of the house with red eyes, Su Wanwan was sweeping the floor.
The rice in the pot was fragrant, and Su Wanwan's eyes were curved to invite the guest, "Mr. Chen, why don't you stay and have dinner with us."
Although Pei Changfeng had explained, Chen Liang still felt that Su Wanwan was not good to Pei Changfeng. He felt a little aggrieved, and vaguely wondered if Pei Changfeng had fallen into a beauty trap and neglected his studies because of beauty.
"No need," Chen Liang wiped his eyes, "Thank you, Madam Changfeng."
Su Wanwan smiled at him generously, "Hey, you're welcome, come often when you have time in the future!"
When she smiled, her face was even more beautiful. Chen Liang held back what he wanted to say, and finally said sullenly, "Take good care of Changfeng. I'll come to see him another day."
To be fair, if Chen Liang had such a beautiful wife, he would not be unable to tolerate being beaten twice a day.
"Of course, Mr. Chen, don't worry!" Su Wanwan poured the rotten leaves in the frame into the chicken coop and knocked the frame against the fence twice to knock off the broken leaves. Her movements were skillful, and she looked like a good worker.
After Chen Liang left, Su Wanwan hummed a song and went to serve the meal.
She seemed to be in a really good mood, and Pei Changfeng couldn't help but feel curious.
Seeing him looking at her, Su Wanwan smiled and said, "Husband, we are united as a couple, and we can break metal with our strength. You can't listen to other people's nonsense. After all, only you know whether I am good or not."
There was a hint of pride in her expression, and Pei Changfeng couldn't help but laugh, "Yes."
·
"You said that was Pei Changfeng's classmate?" Uncle Pei smoked his water pipe and looked thoughtful. "Why did his classmate suddenly come to me? Did someone discover something?"
"Who knows?" Aunt Pei was worried. "Damn Su Wanwan, she really killed us!"
They couldn't find an opportunity to take action, and they were afraid that Pei Changfeng would suddenly come back to life one day and cause trouble for them.
"No," Uncle Pei exhaled a puff of smoke, "We can't wait any longer."
That night, two sneaky figures approached Pei Changfeng's yard.
Uncle Pei learned from his last failure and did not climb over the wall again. Instead, he used a thin bamboo stick to reach into the crack of the door and pried open the bolt of the courtyard gate.
Uncle Pei's wife was holding a drugged towel in her hand. Uncle Pei had injured his hand, so after he opened the door, he stood watch from a distance, in case Su Wanwan screamed again and called everyone over.
Aunt Pei took off her shoes, quietly opened the door, and then pounced on Su Wanwan who was lying on the bed.
Pei Changfeng woke up the moment she opened the door, but he didn't make a sound.
Su Wanwan was frightened awake and struggled helplessly. Soon her head became dizzy and the choking smell of medicine brought tears to her eyes.
Through tearful eyes, she glanced at Pei Changfeng who stood motionless, and felt an unspeakable pain in her heart.
Aunt Pei laughed arrogantly, "Bitch! I told you to hit me! After I sell you out, I'll kill Pei Chang... "
With a puffing sound, Aunt Pei's body twitched. She fell to the ground, holding her neck and struggling like a dead fish, "You, you..."
Before she died, she still hadn't figured out why Pei Changfeng suddenly woke up.
Pei Changfeng looked down at her condescendingly. There was no pleasure of revenge in his eyes, only the indifference of looking at a dead person.
After a while, Aunt Pei passed away.
Pei Changfeng glanced at Su Wanwan who had fallen asleep, then slowly got up from the bed, holding on to the head of the bed, and dragged Pei's aunt's body out of the door with great effort.
Uncle Pei waited for a long time but Aunt Pei didn't show up. He was a little suspicious. Did it work? Why didn't she show any sign of anything?
Seeing that the sky was getting brighter, Uncle Pei knew that he could not wait any longer, so he quietly went into the yard.
The yard was very quiet. He looked in from the window and saw a person lying on the bed. It should be Pei Changfeng. What about Su Wanwan?
"Oh no," Uncle Pei cursed inwardly, "that bastard found out again."
He looked around, could it be that Aunt Pei had been knocked unconscious?
"What is uncle looking for?"
Pei Changfeng's voice suddenly rang out, and Uncle Pei looked over as if he had seen a ghost.
I saw Pei Changfeng standing not far away. I don’t know how long I looked at him. His black hair was disheveled, and he looked like a ghost.
If the person lying on the bed is Pei Changfeng, then who is this person?
Uncle Pei's heart began to beat violently. Either he saw a ghost, or Pei Changfeng had woken up!
Uncle Pei wanted to run, but was stopped.
"Get out of here!" Uncle Pei ran away without even looking back.
Halfway through the run, he came back to his senses, panting heavily. What was he afraid of? Pei Changfeng was awake, so what? He didn't believe that Pei Changfeng had recovered 100%. As long as he took the initiative...
Uncle Pei swallowed his saliva, took an axe from home, and went straight to Pei Changfeng's house.
“Go to hell!”
Pei Changfeng was still waiting for him there, and Uncle Pei chopped hard in his direction.
He missed his attack and had a mouthful of mud. He was so bloodthirsty that he wanted to kill Pei Changfeng without even thinking about where Aunt Pei had gone.
Pei Changfeng suddenly smiled and took a step back, and Uncle Pei's hand stopped in mid-air.
A sharp piece of bamboo pierced his left leg.
Uncle Pei half-knelt on the ground, panting heavily, but Pei Changfeng smiled and said, "Uncle, do you feel pain now?"
"It hurt more when you hit my leg."
"You know everything?" Uncle Pei stared at him viciously.
"Perhaps," Pei Changfeng said without a smile in his eyes, "I know more than you think."
Just a piece of bamboo made Uncle Pei breathless with pain. Pei Changfeng found it ironic because he watched with his own eyes how his leg was crippled.
They took stones and smashed them down on him again and again, breaking his legs.
His most trusted relative not only broke his legs, but also pushed him off a cliff.
The cliff was not high, and Pei Changfeng knew that Uncle Pei's family was reluctant to see him die, but they also didn't want to see him live too well.
He remembered the taste of the bark water he drank when he was unconscious, how the flesh and bones in his legs howled in pain day and night, and their smug laughter when they knew he was half dead.
Pei Changfeng squatted down, "Shh, do you want everyone to know that you almost killed me?"
As soon as he finished speaking, his hand loosened and another piece of bamboo pierced into Uncle Pei's leg.
Pei Changfeng flicked his hand and a piece of bloody meat was cut off.
Uncle Pei rolled and struggled on the ground. A dog from somewhere started barking, and the barking sound filled the entire village.
"Killed but not dead, the principal offender was sentenced to hanging, the accomplice to 100 strokes of the cane and exiled 3,000 miles. I don't know if my cousin can survive this."
"W-What are you going to do?"
Pei Changfeng smiled, "Uncle's leg seems to be stronger than others."
"Mad, mad!"
Uncle Pei crawled to the door, he knew that Pei Changfeng would kill him if he stayed any longer!
He ran away, and Pei Changfeng did not stop him. However, cutting off a piece of his flesh was not enough to relieve his hatred.
What he had to do was to peel off his good uncle's bones and flesh bit by bit, and then chop it into minced meat.
Pei Changfeng wiped the blood off his hands with hay. When he looked up, he saw Su Wanwan looking at him at the door with a pale face.
