Chapter 3 Gift from Auntie
Su Wanwan got up before dawn. The first thing she did after opening her eyes was to put her hand under Pei Changfeng's nose to see if he was still breathing.
"Great, you're still alive!"
Su Wanwan breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank God, thank God, I'm still alive."
Su Wanwan stared at Pei Changfeng's slightly rising and falling chest, and she couldn't stop smiling. Pei Changfeng was the first person who had survived her marriage and lived to the next day.
Su Wanwan now sincerely feels that Pei Changfeng and she are a match made in heaven, and he is the only one who has not been killed by her! If this is not called a match made in heaven, what else can we call it?
After hearing this good news, Su Wanwan became more energetic to work. She quickly got up and went to the kitchen to cook two bowls of pumpkin porridge. Pei Changfeng drank half a bowl of the cooked porridge, and she drank one and a half bowls.
After breakfast, she took out the damp and moldy sheets and quilt covers from the cupboard, squatted in the yard to wash and hang them up, and also hung the thin quilt that she had retrieved yesterday on the rope to dry, preparing to replace the bedding that Pei Changfeng was sleeping on in the afternoon. She could already smell the odor yesterday.
There wasn't even a stool in this yard, so she would have to go to Uncle Pei's house to "borrow" a good stool later.
Aunt Pei had been waiting outside the door since early morning, waiting for Su Wanwan to come and announce the death. As soon as she went out, she saw Su Wanwan washing in the yard. She felt something was wrong, so she went over to her and asked, "Wanwan, how is Changfeng today?"
"I'm fine," Su Wanwan wiped the sweat off her forehead without even looking up, "I can eat and sleep well. I might wake up in two days."
Wake up, wake up!? How can this be possible!
Uncle Pei didn't believe it, so she ran into the house to check Pei Changfeng's breath, and saw that he was clean. She felt dizzy for a moment. What was going on? Shouldn't Pei Changfeng be killed? Could it be that the poison was really used to fight the poison?
"Aunt, you must be very happy too," Su Wanwan smiled with her eyes curved, "I'm out of oil at home, aunt, please give me some, and I'll return it to you when Changfeng wakes up."
Aunt Pei's head was buzzing. When she heard that she was still asking her for oil, she was furious, "Are you a beggar?"
"Yes," Su Wanwan said in a pitiful tone, "I am almost like a beggar. I just ask my aunt to give me some food. Otherwise, I will have to borrow some from the village chief."
Aunt Pei's face turned blue and purple, and finally she said resignedly, "Come with me."
She has to give it to him. If this little shrew really goes to see the village chief, he will definitely scold her.
Aunt Pei couldn't help but stare at Su Wanwan. She was really a poisoner... She could even bring the dead back to life with her poison.
Su Wanwan found a big jar in the house, picked up a basket, and followed Uncle Pei.
A villager saw her and asked curiously, "Mr. Pei, what are you doing?"
"My aunt felt sorry for me because I had no food to eat, so she asked me to get a can of oil and said there were a lot of vegetables at home for me to take."
Pei Daniu, the villager who asked the question, was shocked and asked, "Is it true?"
Su Wanwan pushed Aunt Pei and said, "Of course! She is my husband's biological aunt!"
Aunt Pei's smile was stiff, "Yes, yes..."
She really wanted to shut up this damn girl! When did she say that she had a lot of food to give her?
With Su Wanwan's publicity, soon half the village knew that Aunt Pei was going to get oil and vegetables for Su Wanwan, and they all praised Aunt Pei for her authentic cooking.
Aunt Pei held her breath and scooped two spoonfuls of oil for Su Wanwan. Seeing that she was still holding the jar, her heart ached for a moment, "It's gone, there's nothing left for my family to eat."
Su Wanwan didn't indulge her. She snatched the jar and scooped a large spoonful. She scooped the jar to the bottom before returning it. She smiled sweetly, "Aunt, you are so kind."
Her smile was as sweet as honey, and Aunt Pei almost fainted from heartache. So much oil was enough for their family to eat for two months!
"And there are eggplants," Su Wanwan was quick to take the eggplants and put them into her basket. "Aunt, you grow eggplants really well. How do you grow them? Teach me tomorrow. I just don't know if my son Changfeng likes them."
Aunt Pei screamed, "Go grab it!"
Su Wanwan blinked, "How can this be called robbery? This is mutual help among our relatives."
After she finished speaking, she bent down to pick up the taro on the ground. Aunt Pei tried to stop her, but Su Wanwan picked up two and went to the yard to pick loofahs. Aunt Pei tried to grab them again, but Su Wanwan was quick and even took out three eggs from the chicken coop!
"Robbery! Robbery!"
Pei Yaozu came out upon hearing the voice and saw that it was Su Wanwan, so he stopped Aunt Pei and said, "Mom, my sister-in-law has suffered enough! Just let her take it!"
Aunt Pei glanced at her son, then looked at Su Wanwan who had emptied her salt jar, and screamed again, "Is this Su Wanwan a bandit! ?
Salt...salt!
Su Wanwan walked to the door and did not forget to thank Pei Yaozu, "Thanks to you, cousin."
Pei Yaozu blushed. His sister-in-law was so pretty. It would be great if she was his wife. It would be a waste for her to be Pei Changfeng's wife.
Ignoring Aunt Pei's crying and shouting, Su Wanwan started loudly praising Aunt Pei for being so good to her as soon as she went out. The villagers also started praising her when they saw the full basket.
"Yes, Changfeng has been ill for so long, and he relies entirely on Pei Da's family to take care of him."
"As expected, my uncle's family is the most reliable."
"Yes, yes. There is no overnight hatred between relatives. There is nothing that cannot be discussed."
Uncle Pei, who was squeezed in the crowd, overheard what happened, then returned home suspiciously. As soon as he entered the door, he saw Uncle Pei's wife cursing the sky, the earth, and Su Wanwan.
When she saw him coming back, she cursed, "That little bitch stole all our stuff!"
Uncle Pei's face fell, "Didn't you give it to me?"
"I'm crazy for giving her these things?!"
Pei Yaozu tried to smooth things over, "My sister-in-law and her family have a hard life, it's only right for us to help them."
Uncle Pei is not most concerned about those things now. He asked, "How are the people?"
Aunt Pei's face turned even worse, and she gnashed her teeth, "She's still alive! I said that what the matchmaker said was a lie, that Su Wanwan is not unlucky at all! Su Wanwan's stepmother is a liar, she just wants to marry this little whore off quickly!"
"Not unlucky in marriage?" Pei Yaozu became excited. It was good that she was not unlucky in marriage. As soon as Pei Changfeng died, he would marry Su Wanwan. It would be a good opportunity for him to get married too.
"Wait a little longer," Uncle Pei lowered his voice, "Don't worry, wait two more days. Even if he doesn't die, I have a way to kill him."
"If she doesn't die soon, I'll go talk to that widow Liu and ask her to take this whore back!" Aunt Pei was so angry that her face was twisted while holding the salt jar.
When Su Wanwan returned home, it was not yet time for lunch. She was thinking about taking care of Pei Changfeng, so she steamed a bowl of egg custard for him first, and then fed him the second meal after she finished her meal.
She rubbed Pei Changfeng's thin arm with heartache, "Your uncle's family is really a piece of shit. They took care of you like this. If you hadn't married me, what would you have done?"
After saying that, she became a little happy again, "It seems that I am not a bad star that brings bad luck to your husband. I am your lucky star. Please wake up soon. I promise to treat you well!"
I don’t know if it was an illusion, but Pei Changfeng’s eyelashes seemed to tremble.
Su Wanwan stared at him for a while, but couldn't figure out what was going on. She put clothes on him and stroked his face like she was coaxing a child. "Just wait patiently. I'll cook you some meat porridge this afternoon."
Although she didn't get a response, Su Wanwan was still in a good mood. This was her first man who survived!
In the afternoon, the sun was scorching. Su Wanwan put bedding on the ground for Pei Changfeng to lie on first. Then she changed the quilts that were almost moldy on the bed, took them out to dry, and replaced them with bedding that had been washed and dried today.
After thinking about it, Su Wanwan boiled water in the pot while installing the bed curtains, intending to give Pei Changfeng a good bath while the weather was good in the afternoon!
"Don't be afraid. You can sleep comfortably only if you wash yourself clean."
Su Wanwan threw his clothes onto the chair and gently wiped her cheek with a wet towel.
"My dear husband, you don't even know that you smell," Su Wanwan said to herself, "Even men should be clean, otherwise I won't sleep in the same bed with you in the future.
The water in the pot had already boiled. Su Wanwan had just added the warm water and returned to the house. Before she could take off Pei Changfeng's pants, she heard a woman's scream coming from the yard.
"You shameless vixen, let my cousin go!"
