Chapter 6 Who said Su Wanwan was virtuous?
Early in the morning on the day of returning to the parents' home, Su Wanwan invited the village chief to her home to look after Pei Changfeng.
The village chief walked around the yard with a look of satisfaction on his face. It seemed that the wife that Mr. Pei had married for Changfeng was really a good one. Not long after she got married, she had already tidied the house in tidy order.
He had also come to see him when the Pei couple were taking care of him. The dust in the house was piled up like a mountain. After all, it was not their family affair, so the village chief couldn't say much. After all, Pei Changfeng still relied on the Pei couple to take care of him.
"Village chief, I've already fed Changfeng this morning. Please wait until lunch time to feed him again. I'll be back in the afternoon," Su Wanwan was still worried. "My uncle and his family haven't brought Changfeng's medicine yet. They didn't even tell me where they got it. I have to find time to go to town."
The village chief looked at Pei Changfeng, who was washed clean, and seemed to be hesitant to speak. In fact, he didn't know that Pei's family took the money and didn't go to the town. However, he privately didn't want Su Wanwan and Pei's family to have a bad relationship. Everyone knew that since Pei Changfeng fell ill, it was Uncle Pei and Aunt Pei who took care of him. The child must have regarded them as his own parents in his heart.
He also heard about Su Wanwan's attack on Uncle Pei's wife yesterday. Su Wanwan was indeed wrong in this matter, but in front of her, the village chief said nothing. He just told her to go with peace of mind and planned to ask his wife to come and have a good talk with her after she had settled the matter of returning home.
After Su Wanwan left, the village chief sat on a chair and muttered to Pei Changfeng, "Your wife is kind and has no bad intentions. If you wake up and hear any rumors, don't believe them. At least remember that she has taken such good care of you."
The village chief stroked his beard and said, "Although she beat your aunt, she also wanted to get medicine for you. There must be a reason for it. Although her behavior is not advisable, her heart is good."
The village chief was sighing when he suddenly sat up from his chair, opened the closet and took a look. Seeing that Su Wanwan's clothes were all there, he sat back down.
It’s okay if you don’t run away, it’s okay if you don’t run away.
The one who acted faster than Su Wanwan was Aunt Pei. Seeing that Su Wanwan had brought the village chief into the house to take care of Pei Changfeng, she couldn't find an opportunity to take action, so she hurried to Su Wanwan's parents' home.
Widow Liu was feeding her son Su Chaochao. When she saw Aunt Pei coming, she greeted her warmly, "Aunt, why are you here today? Are Wanwan and Changfeng doing well?"
"Oh, your face..." Widow Liu shuddered silently, "Why did it become like this?"
When Su Chaochao heard the word "Wanwan", she shrank back in her chair, thinking that Su Wanwan was coming back. She didn't even eat and hurriedly hid herself.
Aunt Pei was furious. "Didn't you say Su Wanwan was virtuous and managed the household well? She beat me half to death yesterday. What kind of wisdom is this? Managing a shitty household?"
Hearing that another person had suffered at the hands of Su Wanwan, Widow Liu almost laughed out loud, but she still advised gently, "Alas, dear aunt, you don't know. When my husband was still alive, he spoiled Wanwan like the apple of his eye. Even my son Chaochao couldn't say a word in front of him. But it's a good thing for a girl to be a little pampered. Look at my Wanwan, she is like a flower. If you hadn't sincerely asked for her, I would not have been willing to marry her off."
Aunt Pei laughed angrily, "I think you did it on purpose. You saw that bitch Su Wanwan was hard to deal with, so you wanted to marry her off early to save yourself from trouble, right?"
"Hey, aunt-in-law, please don't talk nonsense. Although Wanwan is not my biological daughter, I treat her with all my heart," Widow Liu smiled with eyes curved, "Not only did I not take away a single copper coin of your betrothal gift, I also gave her three taels of silver as a dowry. Can you see which stepmother can do what I did? Aunt-in-law, you are just too narrow-minded and can't think straight. If you can be like me, there will be nothing in this world that you can't overcome."
Widow Liu has inquired about it these days and found out that Su Wanwan did not kill anyone this time. This is great. She is no longer afraid that Su Wanwan will come back to beat her!
Aunt Pei came here today just for this matter. Seeing that Su Wanwan not only served Pei Changfeng so well, but also dared to lay hands on her, Aunt Pei was panicked. She said to Widow Liu: "Take Su Wanwan back quickly. Our family can't afford to support this big Buddha!"
"That won't do. A married girl is like spilled water. Besides, our Wanwan is listed in your Pei family's genealogy. You must have a legitimate reason for asking me to take her back. My Wanwan has only been married for three days. What could she have done wrong? It really won't do..."
Widow Liu's eyes turned and she said with a smile, "If it really doesn't work, aunt-in-law, just bear with it."
When she first got married, she thought she could win Father Su's heart with her beauty and then severely bully his stepdaughter, Su Wanwan. Who would have thought that the father and daughter would not play by the rules? Widow Liu didn't want to experience being chased and stabbed by Su Wanwan with a pair of scissors in the middle of the night again. Su Wanwan was too scary...
Widow Liu shuddered again and waved her handkerchief, "Auntie-in-law, if you are alright, please go back. I have to go feed my son."
Seeing that Su Wanwan had not come back for such a long time, Su Chaochao ran out of the house again.
Aunt Pei was so angry that she wanted to die. Widow Liu was too much! No, she had to find a way to send Su Wanwan away.
"Aunt, mother, what are you talking about?"
As soon as Su Wanwan entered the room, she saw Aunt Pei and Widow Liu talking. She walked over to them with a smile, looking curious.
Upon hearing Su Wanwan's voice, Widow Liu's smile froze, and then she quickly went to greet her joyfully, "Our Wanwan is back. Did you miss your mother?"
In fact, Widow Liu is eight years older than Su Wanwan. She is less than 30 years old this year. She was also a beauty in the village back then. Later, she was blinded by Su Dad's appearance and married Su Wanwan to be her stepmother for seven or eight years. The youngest son born to her and Su Dad is only six years old.
Su Wanwan pinched her brother Su Chaochao's face before she spoke: "Isn't today the day to return home? Changfeng is not feeling well and can't go out, so I came back by myself."
Widow Liu didn't care what happened to her family. She just hoped that she would leave quickly. She looked happy as if she had seen her own daughter. "You are not feeling well. Wait for me. I will catch a chicken for you and make soup for Changfeng. Don't worry about me. I and your brother are both fine."
Su Chaochao also nodded tremblingly, "Sister, mom and I are fine!"
Seeing how spineless Widow Liu and Su Chaochao were, Aunt Pei was really scared. How could Su Wanwan be so powerful? She had brought herself into big trouble when she returned home.
Seeing Su Wanwan turning around to look at her, Aunt Pei laughed twice and ran away quickly.
Su Wanwan gained a lot from this trip. She got a cotton quilt that Widow Liu had just asked someone to make, as well as her own clothes, sheets, and bedding from home, as well as two jars of pickled vegetables, two chickens, twenty eggs, and a basket of vegetables. Widow Liu had no complaints at all. If Su Wanwan could take more, she would have given her her pillow.
When saying goodbye to Su Wanwan, Widow Liu almost burst into tears with Su Chaochao. It was great that she finally got married!
On the other hand, Zhou Chanyue had just inquired about Su Wanwan's affairs and was about to go to Peijia Village to publicize all the bad deeds of this person, such as chasing her stepmother for two miles with scissors in the middle of the night, beating her half brother every day, and scolding her father so much that he couldn't stand up straight. Who knew that as soon as she opened her mouth, the people in Peijia Village stared at her in surprise.
"Ah? You just found out about this?"
Pei Daniu scratched his head and said, "You are too uninformed. I knew it yesterday."
Zhou Chanyue's mouth twitched, "W-what?"
Pei Daniu counted on his fingers, "She also beat her biological father with a stick, beat her stepmother with a ladle, tied her younger brother to a chair and refused to give him food. Oh, she also beat Pei Changfeng's aunt yesterday. Pei Changfeng's aunt's face is still swollen now."
Zhou Chanyue: “…Really?”
"Why would I lie to you?" Pei Daniu looked around and rubbed his arms. "I won't talk to you for now. My mother won't let me go out alone, lest I get beaten by Su Wanwan. I'm leaving first, and you should be careful too!"
Zhou Chanyue originally wanted to come back to ruin Su Wanwan's reputation, but God knows Su Wanwan's reputation was already so bad that there was no need for her to ruin it!
Zhou Chanyue clenched her fists. No, even if Pei Changfeng died, he could only marry her and never any other woman!
Zhou Chanyue went home angrily. As soon as she got home, Wu Sanniang grabbed her ears and scolded her, "Did you go to Pei Village again? What did I tell you? Huh? Don't you have ears?"
"Mother, please stop twisting my ears!" Zhou Chanyue's eyes were filled with tears. "Although you didn't allow me to marry my cousin, he's married now, so I have to go and see him. Aren't you curious about what kind of woman he married?"
Wu Sanniang is Pei Changfeng's aunt. She crossed her arms and looked at her daughter, snorting and laughing, "He is a paraplegic now. What does it have to do with me who he marries?"
Zhou Chanyue whispered, "My cousin is a scholar after all. I don't mean anything else. I just think that Uncle Pei's family doesn't take good care of my cousin. It's simply a waste of the money the government gives him every month."
Hearing this, Wu Sanniang became angry again. In fact, when Pei Changfeng just fell, she was planning to take him back, not for anything else, but for the monthly subsidy from the government office! Who knew that Uncle Pei's family was so ruthless that they not only didn't let her take him back, but also didn't give her a penny of the money.
Zhou Chanyue continued to strike while the iron was hot, "Now that they have found a wife for my cousin, it will be even more difficult for us to take him in and take care of him."
Wu Sanniang clapped her hands vigorously. Yes, Uncle Pei and his gang of evil-minded people must be thinking so. If that woman is really allowed to stay, how will she get money in the future!
No, that woman can't stay!
