The red flames made the branches crackle, occasionally emitting a few sparks.
Si Yang was wrapped in Pei Tingyu's military coat, sitting by the fire with his neck hunched over to warm himself.
Pei Tingyu's coat was not only warm, but also filled with the scent of his sandalwood. It was light and very soothing.
The firelight danced in her dark brown pupils as she stared at Pei Tingyu who was boiling water.
After he took off his heavy coat, he was wearing a light grey round-neck sweater underneath. His temperament was upright and clean, and his usual fierce and violent aura was gone.
He now has a more youthful look.
How old is he this year? A burning question suddenly popped up in Si Yang's mind.
"Give me your hand." Pei Tingyu's low and mellow voice sounded.
Si Yang came back to his senses, and before he could think, his hand had already reached out naturally.
Pei Tingyu squeezed her fingertips lightly and frowned again.
"It seems that what you said before was not entirely false. Even after covering your hands like this, they are still so cold."
Si Yang suddenly remembered that during his interrogation, he had told them about her cold hands and feet in the winter. Pei Tingyu didn't even wear a cotton coat, and his palms were so warm. But she was so wrapped up, but her hands were still cold.
"Hold this." Pei Tingyu filled Si Yang's military water bottle with hot water, wrapped it in a handkerchief, and gave it to her to warm her hands.
Si Yang held the warm kettle, feeling the warmth soaking into her fingertips and palms, feeling so comfortable. If it weren't for the blood loss, she wouldn't be so cold.
"Captain Pei, thank you for helping me again today."
Pei Tingyu added some more firewood to the fire. Hearing her sincere thanks, there was no extra expression on his face, he just raised his eyelids slightly.
"From now on, when there's no one else around, don't call me company commander." He said it nonchalantly, but his eyes were serious.
Si Yang didn't mean to be pretentious, so he took the opportunity to ask, "Captain Pei, how old are you this year?"
"One year older than last year." Pei Tingyu answered without thinking.
Si Yang raised his eyes and glanced at him. "Since when has a man's age become a secret?"
"Don't ask me unless you want to introduce me to someone."
Si Yang looked at his somewhat gloomy face and was suddenly choked by his words.
"Captain Pei is so outstanding, does he need someone to introduce him to someone? He can't stun a lot of people wherever he goes."
Pei Tingyu ignored him. After making sure there was enough firewood in the fire, he stood up, bent down and walked towards the exit of the shelter.
Seeing him leave without saying a word, without even a glance at her, Si Yang thought about the temperature outside, which was over 20 degrees below zero. Wouldn't he be frozen into an ice sculpture if he was wearing so little?
"Captain Pei, I'll give you your coat back." Pei Tingyu didn't look back, but just walked out. Because the shelter was cramped, he needed to keep his head down as much as possible, so he walked slowly.
Si Yang felt that this person was a little strange. Why did he suddenly become angry like a little wife?
"Captain Pei..." she called softly.
Pei Tingyu turned a deaf ear and walked outside.
"Pei Tingyu! Where are you going?" Si Yang shouted anxiously with a hint of anger.
She was afraid that he would freeze to death outside.
She was responded with a brief silence. She was about to get up and take a look, but saw that the person who went out had turned back.
This time, there was a faint smile of success on his face.
Si Yang frowned and looked at him. What was this bastard laughing at?
Pei Tingyu returned to her, bent down slightly and said to her: "Remember, call my name when no one is around."
Si Yang's brows furrowed slightly before he reacted.
The reason he was angry was that she didn't call his name?
She raised her eyebrows and said nonchalantly, "Of course, as long as you don't take revenge on me and accuse me of disrespecting you."
