Chapter 145: Meeting the Qin Family Again (2/2)

With Annie's help, she didn't have to waste time trying her luck and could just go straight to her goal.

She chose an area with the highest ginseng density. The ginseng-picking trip went very smoothly. She used night vision goggles and worked until midnight before returning.

When she returned, she was so sleepy that she could hardly open her eyes. But when she thought about the sixty-three wild ginsengs she had picked on the territory of Country S, she would wake up laughing in her dreams.

After simply washing her hands and feet, she fell on the bed and fell asleep.

"Knock, knock—" It was already dawn when there was a knock on the door.

Who is it? Disturbing my sweet dreams?

She finally doesn't have to do morning exercises anymore. Is it so difficult for her to sleep in?

She got up and opened the door, feeling a little grumpy. Standing outside was Chen Ziqiang.

"You better be okay."

Chen Ziqiang laughed awkwardly: "Your parents are here..."

Mom and Dad?

Si Yang's expression froze. The Qin couple are here?

It’s good that you’re here. It’s time to settle this face to face.

Si Yang followed Chen Ziqiang to the company's small auditorium. As soon as he entered, he saw a middle-aged couple looking at the photos hanging on the wall.

It was a wall of honor, on which were posted the glorious moments when the soldiers of the entire company won honors, including several shots of Si Yang receiving the award.

Qin Qiheng sat in a wheelchair, his once broad and straight back now hunched.

Chen Lan no longer had the dignified and energetic demeanor of the past. Her gray hair was a little messy, and her sallow skin was covered with fine lines. She even looked much older than other educated women of her age.

If she didn't have the thick calluses and chapped skin on her hands, she would be just an ordinary working woman.

"Do you two need me for something?" Si Yang spoke, breaking the silence between the couple.

"Yangyang..." Chen Lan's excited eyes dimmed a little after she saw the coldness in Si Yang's eyes. "We heard that you were getting married, so we wanted to... come and see you."

"Yes! Yangyang, are you doing well?" Qin Qiheng's hoarse voice was full of embarrassment.

Si Yang pulled a chair over and sat down. "How am I doing? From the day you published your announcement about breaking off our relationship, I have nothing to do with you anymore, right?"

The couple felt choked and felt like they had something stuck in their throats. After hesitating for a few times, Chen Lan slowly walked towards Si Yang.

"Yangyang, I'm sorry! It was Mom's fault back then. I shouldn't have been so obsessed with you and wronged you for such an unworthy ungrateful person."

Si Yang stared at Chen Lan, whose eyes were red, with cold eyes, but there was no emotion in his heart.

This belated apology is meaningless.

Seeing that she was indifferent, Qin Qiheng pushed his wheelchair over.

"Yangyang... We have already paid the price for our actions. Can you forgive us? During this period... Your mother has been crying every night. She misses you so much!" Qin Qiheng softened his tone and pleaded. His voice was still not clear after the stroke, but it was barely understandable.

Si Yang sneered, "Missing me? I'm selfish and vicious, so what's there to miss? She's thinking about that good daughter who died early, right? Is she thinking about how to kill me to avenge her daughter?"

Chen Lan's face paled visibly, and tears instantly burst out. "Yangyang, it's not like this... Mommy really knows she was wrong. Please forgive me and come back to me, okay?"

"I don't have a mother, so don't just recognize a daughter. If you really miss your daughter, go burn some paper for Qin Zhenzhen! She's well-behaved and kind, and maybe she'll come back to accompany you in your dreams."

Si Yang's words pierced the couple's hearts like a knife.

They knew that their past actions had caused irreparable harm to their daughter, but they still clung to the illusion and tried to make amends.

Since moving to the suburbs, every time I see other people's families with children and grandchildren while they can only depend on each other, the wound of guilt in my heart becomes deeper and deeper.

It seems that only by getting Si Yang's forgiveness can they be redeemed.

But how could Si Yang give them this opportunity?

People like them deserve to live in regret for the rest of their lives. This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
