Chapter 172 Welcome to 1971 (1/3)

On New Year's Eve, after Si Yang and Qiu Xia had their New Year's Eve dinner together, they sat around the stove, listening to the radio and chatting while staying up late.

From time to time, the sound of children chasing after firecrackers could be heard in the snow outside. Some children were laughing, while others were crying.

Qiu Xia listened to the loud crying and felt that it sounded strangely familiar.

She walked to the window and looked out. The dim street lights shone on the snow, making the light much brighter.

Under the street light was a little boy wearing a red scarf and overalls.

Qiu Xia recognized the chubby little figure at a glance. It was Mumu.

It's New Year's Day, why is he squatting on the ground crying alone?

Qiu Xia hurriedly opened the door and ran towards the little girl, "Mumu, what's wrong with you?"

Mumu stopped crying when she heard a familiar voice.

His round eyes were wide open, as if he couldn't believe that he actually found Qiu Xia here.

After being stunned for a moment, the original fear instantly turned into grievance.

"Auntie Orange? Hug me..."

Qiu Xia couldn't resist the little guy's request and quickly carried him back into the house from the cold snow.

It was the first time that Si Yang met Mu Mu. The chubby little guy was not shy and called her "pretty auntie" as soon as they met. He was very lovable.

Qiu Xia found that his trouser legs and shoes and socks were all wet, so she quickly helped him take them off and put them on the stove to dry. Then she found a cotton coat, wrapped him in it, and carried him to the stove to keep warm.

Si Yang brought out a large plate of food including nuts, biscuits, fruits, etc. and placed it in front of him, letting him choose whatever he wanted.

The little guy ate while chatting with two beautiful aunts, shaking his short legs non-stop, and seemed to be enjoying himself to the fullest.

Si Yang and Qiu Xia were also very happy with his sweet talk. The originally quiet New Year's Eve became lively because they picked up a child.

"By the way, where are your parents? Why did you get here? They'll be worried if they can't find you."

Mumu pursed his lips in frustration, "Dad is very busy, and I don't have a mom."

"No mother?" Si Yang and Qiu Xia looked at each other, both a little surprised.

"Dad said Mom is very far away and will not come back until I grow as tall as him." Mumu answered seriously.

The atmosphere in the room was quiet for a moment. Qiu Xia didn't expect that such a cute child like Mumu didn't have his mother by his side.

"Where is your home then? Can I take you home?"

Mumu tilted his head and thought about it, but couldn't come up with any useful clues.

In the end, they only heard that he had seen Qiu Xia appear here earlier, so he ran into the yard.

"Can you still find the way back? Auntie will accompany you back to find dad, okay?" Qiu Xia asked gently.

"I don't want to look for my dad. I want to be with my aunts." Mumu said naively.

Qiu Xia was in a dilemma for a moment. If she left him here, wouldn't Brigade Commander Qi go crazy with worry if he couldn't find his son?

"Si Yang, what should we do? Do you know how to contact Brigade Commander Qi?"

Only then did Si Yang realize that he was the child of the brigade commander of the military region. She naturally didn't know the contact information of that person, but someone should be able to find him.

So she put on a hat and scarf, and went to the military district and the military compound in person to inform the sentries on duty of the little guy's situation.
