Chapter 199 The Child is Born (2/2)

"What did you say? A baby girl?" The old lady of the Wang family didn't understand the meaning of deformity at all. She only keenly caught the word "baby girl" in the doctor's words.

She quickly unwrapped the child, revealing his little bottom. She could no longer hide the disgust on her face, "How could this really be a girl? Doctor, are you mistaken? My daughter-in-law is pregnant with my eldest grandson. Are you guys going to switch my grandson?"

The doctor was furious at her ignorant words. "What can we give you in exchange for your grandson? This is a new society now. Do you still favor sons over daughters as military dependents?"

The old lady of the Wang family was also furious. She raised her voice and asked, "You just exchanged my eldest grandson. This girl was born by his wife, right?" After she said that, she pointed at Pei Tingyu who was waiting on the side.

The doctor impatiently pushed the old lady away and said, "What nonsense are you talking about? The other woman hasn't even given birth yet. What can I exchange with you?"

The old lady was speechless when she heard this, and Deputy Captain Wang next to her finally had the chance to ask what deformity meant.

The doctor pulled the baby girl's hands out of her sleeves. "She has syndactyly, which means her fingers are stuck together and can't move normally."

The mother and son looked at the child's hands that were connected into one piece, and their faces turned pale.

"How could this happen? Doctor... Can my daughter's condition be cured?" Deputy Captain Wang looked at his daughter's rosy little face and was obviously still worried about her.

"It's hard to say for now, but..."

"It's all his wife's fault! It was his wife who killed my eldest grandson!" The old lady of the Wang family suddenly pointed at Pei Tingyu and screamed hysterically.

Pei Tingyu looked puzzled. "What do you mean? How did my Yangyang harm your grandson?"

Aunt Wu also stood up and said, "Yes! Sister, you should be reasonable. Your granddaughter is in your daughter-in-law's belly. Can anyone else replace her?"

"Mom! Can you please stop making trouble?" Deputy Captain Wang held the child and comforted the mother.

Old Lady Wang's eyes were filled with resentment. After being pulled back by her son, she jumped and yelled, "It was your wife's sick cousin who cursed my grandson! Otherwise, how could my healthy grandson become a disabled girl?"

When she said this, Pei Tingyu was speechless.

What else can you say to an ignorant and superstitious old lady?

But the doctor couldn't stand it anymore and immediately scolded him, "Comrade, please speak with scientific evidence. Your granddaughter's condition is a congenital developmental deformity, and it's very likely a family genetic disease. Please don't promote feudal superstition."

The old lady of the Wang family wanted to continue to refute, but was stopped by Deputy Captain Wang beside her. He naturally did not believe the so-called curse, because he remembered that he had an uncle who seemed to have syndactyly, but it was not as serious as his daughter's.

He just wanted to know if this disease could be cured. Now that his daughter was born, he had to find a way to let her live a normal life.

Just as the mother and son were struggling, Niu Daqin was pushed out.

The old lady of the Wang family no longer had the same good attitude towards her daughter-in-law as before, and told her directly that she had given birth to a disabled daughter.

Only after Niu Daqin saw her daughter's hands was she pushed out of the delivery room and sent to the emergency room.

Deputy Captain Wang was so angry that he kicked me back.

Silence finally returned outside the delivery room. Pei Tingyu stood nervously at the door of the delivery room, feeling that the air around him was particularly thin.

An hour later—

"Wuwaaa...Wuwaaa..." The baby's cry could be faintly heard in the delivery room.

"Godmother, did you hear that? Is it my and Yangyang's child crying?" Pei Tingyu turned his head and asked Aunt Wu, his heart almost jumping out of his chest with excitement.

Aunt Wu also looked forward to it excitedly, "It must be, they are the only two who will give birth tonight."

"Is Comrade Qin Siyang's family here?" Ten minutes later, a doctor came out holding a swaddling baby.

"Here!" Pei Tingyu rushed forward.

"Congratulations, it's a boy weighing 7.62 catties..." This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
