Chapter 204: First Heartbeat (2/2)

The girl was shivering with cold due to blood loss from her legs, but after seeing the beam of light, she managed to regain consciousness.

Pei Tingyu lowered his body and came to the girl. He pushed away the stone that was pressing on one of the girl's feet, then called on his comrades who were waiting at the entrance of the ruins to take the girl out.

"Can you still move?" Pei Tingyu asked.

"Yeah." The girl looked at Pei Tingyu steadily and nodded tremblingly.

"Let's go." Pei Tingyu pulled her up and motioned her to crawl out.

Just as the girl was about to crawl forward, she felt a sharp pain in her knee. She stumbled as if her legs were weak and fell to the ground.

Pei Tingyu was about to say something when the ruins above his head suddenly collapsed due to the rain.

He immediately rushed over without hesitation and protected the girl's head.

As the rubble collapsed, the two were buried in just a few seconds.

"Captain——"

Pei Tingyu was hit on the head by a stone and faintly heard the anxious shouts of his comrades before losing consciousness.

"Quick, dig it out with your hands—"

When Pei Tingyu woke up again, it was already noon the next day. He was lying in a bright medical tent with thick gauze wrapped around his head and severe pain on the top of his head.

"Captain Pei, are you finally awake?" A rather childish female voice sounded beside the bed. Before he turned his head to look, he saw a girl with small scratches all over her face rushing to his bedside.

Pei Tingyu frowned, "You are..."

"My name is Du Yue, and I'm a sophomore at Luocheng Middle School. You saved me last night, have you forgotten?" Du Yue said, with two blushes on her cute baby face.

Pei Tingyu then realized that she should be the female student whose face was covered in mud last night.

"This is what I should do, don't worry about it." Pei Tingyu said and called the medical staff to ask about the rescue situation outside, and then decided to get out of bed and continue to participate in the rescue.

"Captain Pei, your head injury is very serious and you should rest." Du Yue limped and tried to stop Pei Tingyu.

Pei Tingyu avoided her touch and walked straight out of the tent.

"Captain Pei--" Du Yue chased out from behind.

Pei Tingyu has already integrated into the rescue team, so how can he still be seen as a person?

Du Yue felt an inexplicable sense of emptiness in his heart. He pulled aside the soldiers and asked about Pei Tingyu.

The man knew what she was thinking as soon as she opened her mouth. "Comrade, our Captain Pei is already married, and his son is already one month old. Why don't you change your target?"

"I... I'm not..." Du Yue didn't expect the other party to expose her thoughts so bluntly, and she was at a loss.

"Xiao Yue." Just when she felt embarrassed, her classmate and good friend came over.

One of the girls injured her leg and the other injured her arm. After sitting together on the bed in the tent in silence for a moment, Du Yue took the initiative to tell her friend about her and Pei Tingyu.

"When those rocks were crashing down, I thought I was going to die, but Captain Pei used his body to support a living space for me. I think people like Captain Pei can be called iron-willed heroes."

"So, you like him?" the friend asked with a gossipy look on his face.

"Yes! I'm moved. It's the first time I'm moved by a man." Du Yue carefully grabbed her friend's hand and shook it excitedly.

"So what are your plans? Are you going to confess your feelings to him?"

"But he's already married." Du Yue looked dejected.

"So what else do you want?"

"I think maybe he doesn't love his wife? If their marriage is loveless, I might not be without a chance!" Du Yue's eyes lit up with a flame. She suddenly wanted to join the army. She wanted to go to Yangcheng to join the army...

The disaster relief mission lasted for ten days. Du Yue helped to accommodate the wounded despite his injuries, leaving a good impression on many people.

On the day Pei Tingyu was packing his equipment and leaving, Du Yue found him.

She tilted her head shyly, not daring to look at him, but quickly took out a letter from her crossbody bag, "Captain Pei, this letter... is for you..." This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
