Chapter 254 Picking up a Second Aunt

Spring 1976

In the first month of the year, the joyous atmosphere of the New Year is still strong.

In the alley, the bare sycamore trees were wrapped in white snow, and the red lanterns on the trees were also covered with a layer of snow. Long strings of footprints were printed in the snow on the road, extending into the courtyards of each household.

When acquaintances meet on the street, they will say Happy New Year to each other, and then go from house to house to pay New Year's greetings.

The children, wearing new coats bought for the Chinese New Year, excitedly followed the adults, kowtowed to their elders, and said auspicious words in order to receive red envelopes of a few cents.

When I got the chance to break away from the adults' control, I couldn't wait to buy the picture book I had been looking forward to for a year.

The boys liked to stuff firecrackers into the snow and play with them, showing off their new purchases to each other. Even though their snot bubbles were almost frozen, they still had a lot of fun.

Most girls like to save their New Year's money, but of course... in the end, it becomes their mother's before they can even get a chance to save it...

Si Yang rarely slept in, and while still in bed he heard the sound of Pei Tingyu shoveling snow in the yard.

It snowed again last night, covering the roads in the yard. In order to prevent his family from falling, he got up early and shoveled the roads.

Yubao took the opportunity to pester his father to build a snowman in the front yard. With the man and the dog pestering him, he had no choice but to agree.

Si Yang lost all desire to sleep as she listened to the father and son chattering outside.

Gently lifting the warm quilt, the two little kids woke up. When they saw their mother, they gave her a heart-melting smile at the same time.

Little Youbao turned over and crawled to his mother, turning on the automatic milk-seeking mode.

Little Ningbao also followed suit and asked his mother for milk.

Si Yang quickly sat up, put on her clothes and went to make milk for them. Now that the two children were almost one year old, she decided to wean them off breastfeeding.

Aunt Wu also prepared some weaning tea for Si Yang. In order to wean him smoothly, Pei Tingyu would take care of them both to sleep from tonight onwards.

Si Yang asked to go to the guest room.

Pei Tingyu has completed the adjustment period in the new unit and can come back almost every day unless there are special circumstances, which makes it convenient for Si Yang to wean the children.

At night, when Si Yang went to the guest room to sleep alone, he took the opportunity to write a letter to Qiuxia. The clothes she made received very good response due to the joint promotion of Long Lizhen and Xia He.

She asked Qiuxia to continue to calm down and start looking for help, but she had to find someone with excellent skills.

In addition, Xia He asked Qiuxia to help make a wedding dress. She would send the specific size, requirements, and remuneration separately.

Si Yang asked her to take the opportunity to think of a brand name for the clothes she made.

About ten days later, Si Yang received Qiuxia's reply. Looking at the neat handwriting on the letter, Si Yang was a little surprised.

I still remember when I first met Qiuxia, she was illiterate and could barely recognize a few words. In just a few years, she could not only recognize words, but also write such beautiful words.

Si Yang couldn't help but think of the saying, 'The harder you work, the luckier you are'. It turns out that no one's success is entirely due to luck.

"Pah--" The snow on the roof fell into the courtyard. Si Yang looked through the glass at the eaves covered with icicles. The aroma of tea filled the warm room, and his thoughts returned.

She sat in front of the warm fireplace, making tea and reading Qiuxia's letter.

The first part mostly talked about what happened after Si Yang left the military family home. Later on, she talked about the clothing business. She handed the task of naming the clothing brand to Si Yang. She said that her ability was limited and she could only make clothes. She really didn't understand anything else.

So Si Yang had to make the decision for her.

After much thought, she wrote the two words "Ruixia" on the white characters, which means auspicious colorful clouds, and named Qiuxia, which has a good meaning.

So she used the auspicious cloud pattern to design the two words "Ruixia" into a trademark and mailed it to Qiuxia.

Soon in early May, Si Yang received the first bright red wedding dress embroidered with the "Ruixia" trademark.

The overall style of the skirt is traditional Chinese, with a stand-up collar and buttons on the upper body and a knee-length skirt on the lower body.

Upon closer inspection, one can see that the skirt is embroidered with a circle of glittering peonies. The lifelike flowers seem to be hidden in the fabric, appearing and disappearing with the changing light and shadow.

Not only does it not appear ostentatious or extravagant, but it also adds a layered and dreamy color to this seemingly simple skirt.

Xia He fell in love with it at first sight and said it was worth the months of waiting.

Si Yang smiled and reminded her to take good care of the skirt. After all, this was Ruixia's first embroidery work and it might be priceless in the future.

Xia He thought Si Yang was joking, but who could blame her for really liking the dress? So even if Si Yang didn't say anything, she would still cherish it.

On the day Qin Lingxiao and Xia He got married, Si Yang and Pei Tingyu brought their three children to the wedding.

Even Qin Shiyan, who had practically made his home in the laboratory, was present.

The newlyweds are a perfect match, making others envious.

While the other guests were staring at the bride and groom, Qin Shiyan was holding his two little nephews while being stared at by Si Yang and urged to get married.

"Aren't you anxious? There are so many bachelors. Even if you're gone, the species won't be extinct. There are plenty of suitable women in your lab. If you just look up, you might find a match."

"I don't have that idea for now." Qin Shiyan thought that he had no parents now, and no one would care about his affairs even if he remained single until his death. He didn't expect that he would be controlled by his sister.

"When is 'temporarily'? How old are you this year? Almost 30, right? By the time you think of finding a woman, your body functions will have deteriorated. Will your offspring still be healthy?"
